DESCRIPTION:
Welcome to my first video back at Palisades Tahoe, formerly Squaw Valley, in 10 years! I've only spent one season at Squaw and it was all the way back in 2014. Back then, I was definitely still a novice and the hardest run I was able to "ski" was Siberia Bowl. I wasn't really able to appreciate the mountain back then and even disliked it to an extent because there seemed to be so many lifts (KT-22, Headwall, Granite Chief, etc...) that I wasn't even "allowed" to ride up. Throughout the next few years, as I got better and learned more about what Squaw/Palisades had to offer, I started to develop the hunger to come back. And so for the 2024-25 ski season, I finally picked up an Ikon pass and decided to check out the mountain as soon as possible. Historically, I've never really done much Spring skiing, but for Squaw, I decided to make an exception.
For the first run of the day, we (Daley Spam, Sean, and myself) rode up Siberia where Daley Spam immediately suggested that we check out the only remaining run open in the Palisades, National. The hike wasn't too bad although definitely a bit bare in a few spots. I'd seen quite a few videos of National beforehand and it surprised me just how steep it was in person. Nothing too crazy, but definitely steep enough to make me hesitate a bit (especially since I hadn't skied since March!). I had nothing to worry about however as the snow was super soft and had plenty of grip. The pitch also mellowed out a good bit after the first few turns.
I don't have too much else to say about this run! It was a great way to start the day and a fantastic first run back after 10 years! National's definitely a run I want to practice straightlining from top to bottom, although when conditions are better. I overall had a fun time skiing National and this really set the tone for the rest of the day!
PERSONAL ENJOYMENT RATING: 7.5/10
TIMESTAMPS:
0:00 - Approaching National
0:07 - Daley Spam's Attempt
0:15 - National

This was my very first run back at Squaw/Palisades! So much more to come from this beast of a mountain over the next few days and throughout next season!
Looks like fun spring skiing! ⛷️ 😊
Absolutely! It was a whole lot of fun, definitely opened my eyes to skiing more in the Spring-time!
Oh what a day, what a lovely day!
Absolutely man! It was a blast and hella inspiring riding with you, Sean, and Martin! Definitely one of the most fun days of skiing I've had! 😁
Making use of the full season!
100% worth it! The snow quality, terrain, and vibes were absolutely fantastic!
Nice! I am set to go this weekend. I decided to do Ikon this year and its amazing that they let you go this season for spring. Haven't been to Palisades in like 6 years.
That's awesome man! I absolutely love that Ikon lets Squaw/Palisades stay open this late, wish Epic did something similar with Kirkwood. Given that you love Kirkwood, you're gonna love all the upper mountain terrain here!
Curious if you can just go in a t shirt and thin pants?
Absolutely! That is the beauty of spring/summer skiing. Nearly everyone on the mountain was in shorts/t-shirt
@@arjunski Interestingly, it was kind of windy and cold when I went. I was fortunate to have packed a long sleeved t shirt and brought some regular gloves and ski pants. Also, props to skiing with Martin. I'd probably be too afraid i was way off his level.
great run!!
One of my favorites of the day!
