I finally was able to gain the trust of a small dog that visits my workplace nearly every day. she is very friendly but out of our team she does not like to be touched by anyone but two or three of my colleague who have known her for years. I did start to gain her trust by letting her sniff my hand and face every time I see her. She finally gave me the signs that it’s ok to touch her and it was such an in read feeling to see she trusts me a bit more now. It is still a long way until I can pet her properly but we are getting there slowly on her terms :)
Long comment, I’m sorry; I watched a few videos (including this one) and read a few wikihow tutorials almost a year ago when I was yet to visit my aunt’s dog, for some reason I always get scared before visiting a new dog. so much so, when I hadn’t met my aunt’s dog, I had a dream in which people were telling me “it’s okay the dog is really friendly, just look” with a pretty cute pup in their hands and in that dream when I looked at the dog and smiled (thinking it was happening in reality for some reason) the dog bit me and ripped off my neck (i had a few more nightmares of dogs killing me but that one would have to be one of the most uniquely violent way of doing so.) And when I finally went, back in last year’s may I think, that dog was the best dog I’ve ever been near. Not biten once, and not ripped off my neck once either. (He has biten only 2 times in his entire life, both of which were to my cousin, the same cousin, but that’s a different story.) In conclusion: I know this video was like months ago or maybe even years but just wanted to thank you for the contribution in making me less afraid when it came to dogs:)
I did not know that hugging a dog was not good. I was doing that with my new adopted dog to show him affection. I'm going to let him come to me from now on.
i have too much turmoil to take 3 years🫤this dog is a gem, her insane biting pushed me, i developed so much fear of her, she’s so smart…i’m trying to get her used to my touch but i have to move so slow, this is going to take too long, this morning while feeding her a treat i just tried to touch her and she growled….i’m out. won’t get rid of her, but lately i just ignore her. all i am to her is someone to throw the ball. getting her was a mistake, shelter puppy adopted at 7 weeks old, too early and i must now admit the challenge was too great, i am defeated.
@@Kate98755I’m so sorry. 😞 it’s hard when reality doesn’t meet expectation. I can tell you care about the dog, given the circumstances. I hope you find some peace around the situation.🙏🏼

Hi please help me! I was really mad at my dog so I hit her but regret instantly. Now she is scared of me, how do I regain her trust? She doesn't accept treats, any food, she runs away from me. What do I do? I regret it so much 😭😭😭
@@cupvidmist i didn't hit her hard, just like how some dog owners literally hit their dog in like a kind way, and to the answer "why" I got very frustrated, so frustrated I even cried and I really just acted on impulse. But it's been a long time ago and now we have an amazing relationship
@@cupvidmist And you may ask, why was she scared of me for a time if I didn't hit her hard? Because she's very sensitive, just like me. But I didn't hit her ever since then and I won't ever do it again
@@AmberPlayzzz I Said wow because I do the same to my dogs as well hit him a kind way I was just saying that because I'm very sensitive when people hit dogs in a mean way 😭
When a stranger dog or cat chooses to spend time with me, it's one of the best moments in life.

We used some of these tips when we adopted our baby girl. She fit right in. :) Thank you for sharing.

If my dog doesn’t like hugs why does he throw himself into them he hugs right back! Otherwise i agree
I think it depends on the dog. One of my dog's likes hugs to, the other one not so much.
My dog finally trust me after three years
