    Testing out each suspension of the Ram HD trucks with a pallet of wheel/tires estimated to be roughly 1500# give or take... This pallet squatted the 2021 Ram 2500 a whopping 2.25" while only squatting the 2019 Ram 3500 only 1.75" before air assist bumped it back up to only .5" of squat!

    Great comparo. One thing you might want to check is the actual max payload in your 3/4 ton. It look's like you have the Cummins, so I'd bet your payload is closer to 2200-2400 lbs rather than 3400 lbs, that you alluded to. Anyhow, good info on how much stiffer the 1 ton rides when empty.

      Appreciate it! So after filming all of these videos I read my door sticker on the truck… shows a payload of 2170# 😬 I was going by the Ram website when getting these stats. So I should’ve looked at my door sticker way before filming!
      Otherwise, the 3500s empty ride pretty harsh in my opinion. Feels like an old school straight axle Chevy or Ford. Lol Or like a low rider hitting bumps. The 2500 is so much more plush, riding almost like a 1/2 ton.

      @@JohnWargo93 Thanks for checking!! Yeah, the payload with the diesel is pretty low, especially considering what the Cummin's will allow it to tow. I had been looking at one to haul a slide-in truck camper and most of the truck campers of decent size (and amenities) have dry weights well over the payload of a 3/4 ton Ram with a Cummins. I guess if you bumper pull a trailer it's not as much of an issue. Great to see someone compare the sag though. Seems like daily driving a 1 ton wouldn't be too much fun, ride wise!!

    I think a better comparison would have been using your truck vs a non-bagged 3500. Non-bagged 3500s have beefier leaf springs, with two overload springs on top of the four main leafs. Still a very good video though, I wonder how my 2006 2500 cummins with leafs would have compared to your truck.

    2 1/4 and 1 3/4

    I have the coils and I don’t like them towing. Just not as solid. I have heard updating the rear track bar really helps so I am going to try that.

    Back in 2008 I put a skid of rock salt in my 2008 Ford F 350 it was 49 50lb bags and it handled it like a champ. I could put two of those same skids in my 2002 F 350 dump. no problem.

    Cargo capacity includes people, gear, hitch/pin weight, and whatever you put in the bed. I'm assuming this is known by all but wanted to make sure.

    It is one thing to put it on the truck and just sit there. But how do those coils handle that weight going around turns. Damn it they need to quit wossying up work trucks. When you buy a work truck you should be willing to accept a somewhat stiff ride because long term it is going to hold up better.

    There was a time when we did not give a damn we wanted a work truck. I'll take e leaf all day and every day. Now you go to the dealer and all you find is loaded up four doors with a sandbox. Remember when everyone wanted a eight foot bed no more a god damn shame.

    What's the price difference between 2500/3500? Just wondering if it makes sense to just get a 3500 or get a 2500 and do an add a leaf or frirestone airbags.

    • @JohnWargo93
      @JohnWargo93  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ironically these two trucks were ballpark the same cost…. 2500 that’s a higher trim vs. 3500 that’s a base model. If I’m not mistaken, generally the 3500s with the HO will be roughly $6-8k-ish more than the same trim package 2500. At least back in 2021. Can be different now days but on Rams website they’ll give you all the “starting msrp” and whatnot for each trim level.

    • @lucman22aa
      @lucman22aa ปีที่แล้ว

      When I was ordering my Ram this year....the dealership told me that the price difference between the 2500 vs 3500 Tradesman is approximately $1,700, This is assuming the same trim package for both.

    • @JohnWargo93
      @JohnWargo93  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lucman22aa I think the big difference is bumping a 3500 up to the HO vs. the SO. It’s an entire different transmission and all. Head onto the online Ram builder. It’s a considerably expensive upgrade itself. But if you stay SO for both the 2500 and 3500 I believe it. If it were that cheap for a HO 3500, it’d be a no brainer for everyone to get one!

      @@JohnWargo93 the 2500 hd I'm looking to purchase is not a z71 which has twin tube rancho shocks. Without the z71 package it has multileaf rear springs. I'm just trying to figure out which is better for towing a 7000lb trailer 3 to 4 times a year

    • @JohnWargo93
      @JohnWargo93  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jasonmcclinton6074 ohhhh you’re talking GM trucks.. sorry, didn’t realize. From my understanding with GM and Ford HD trucks is that the 3500s will be a helper spring added to the leaf pack vs. the 2500s. But 7000# is nothing for a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck. I used to pull around 6500ish with my 1/2 ton Chevy pretty regularly without any issues. Definitely no match for a 3/4 ton.
