    Been watching you for awhile, you started talking about organic, soil conditioning with cover crops, and working with nature to rebuild, you got yourself another subscriber young man. That cover crop is green manure, produced by nature, I like that. Thanks for the ride along.

      Thankyou for that Terry, I hope you enjoy my adventures 😆. Building the soil, and the organic farming has been alot of trial and error, I've learned from a few people in the area how not to do things lol they have both given up organic farming at this point too. Thankyou for watching Terry!

    I had a home-build tractor about that size in the 1950s. It pulled 2 plows with a Model-A ford engine.

    Tim this one was amazing!!! I know it was tuff to be in such a rush to finish and be broke down....but man the plowing was amazing!! I absolutely loved seeing all the older stuff out there getting it done!! Oh my that clay spot, boy I bet I will have lots of those to deal with 🤦🤦😳😳😳 Just amazing video my friend, that cover crop is doing exactly what you are wanting it too 😉😉😉😉 Thank you for that insight a while back too 😁😁 Looking fwd to more !! Hope you are doing better my friend!!

      Thankyou my friend, it was a rough go at getting seed in the ground this spring, but we stick to it adapted and made it happen, we've gotten 2 inches of rain since then too corn should be popping out of the ground today maybe tomorrow, as soon a it dries out I be making my 1st cultivation passes I'm gonna hit it with the rotary hoe then drag right behind that I'm going to really break the dirt up and get the small weeds broke out of there clumps, I upped my population from 32000 to 36000 so I could be more aggressive with my tillage I'm hoping to end up around 32000 by the time I'm done, it's awesome watching the soil get better every year and the crops getting better with it, I managed 40 bpa beans last year with zero inputs beyond my plow down crop. And I didn't mess up my soil health for the corn this year, if love to see your average conventional farmer do that. He might get the 40 bpa but would kill his pockets the next year for fertalizer on the corn. And would be paying for it for years to come not in my system 😆 smithereens thing about that 40bpa I got $23 a bushel for it picked up at the farm, over 100 acres you can do the math if ya want to but it's good money for a little farm especially. It only cost me about 50000 to plant and harvest last year too.

      Lol I saw the episode your taking about and I was thinking the exact same thing 😆 I've got a good patch of clay that's been sod for about 20 years of love to them so there plows in. The 1st year I plowed this field or was all the poor 190 had to pull 5 shined up 16s in 1st gear, it's got windshield eager fluid in the rear tires and I had 3 sets of rear wheele weights on it, it definitely earned its lunch that year.

      Thanks Ed!! I think that the overheating thing is leftover from the covid, I'm used to working all day in the fields 105 degrees on the D-17 and front mount cultivator 12 hours a day no problem, or work a hay mow during the dog days of summer all day and come back with it a problem the next, I wasn't out there for a half hour this year and that happened 🤦‍♂️this video was a few weeks ago before planting and everything, but I'm handling it better every day I'm in it so I've got hope I'll get back to normal. You had me at 1940s. This tractor is lovely. I know nothing about them, but I appreciate them. I live my life in the 1940s/using stuff of the era etc so I had to click this and very neat. BUT as someone who overheats easily, please take care of yourself. I can't believe what a straight row and even while turning around to film. Anyway, thank you for the upload!

    • @TimothyFluegel
      @TimothyFluegel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it did, exactly %300... but considering that it started at $10 a ton I feel bad complaining about it, especially to the guys that are paying for urea. It was the bird flu that drove the price up, it was unaffected by covid, the war, or Brandon, I knew something was going to happen, why not another blow to the food chain out of no where 🤦‍♂️

      I'm definitely handling the heat better and better every day I'm in it, I had covid over the winter and I think the overheating is left over from it, I'm used to running a d-17 with front mount cultivator in 100 degree plus weather 12 hours a day no problem, or working the hay mow during the dog days of summer for a week straight and not bat an eye at the heat, I was out there for a half hour before that happened 🤦‍♂️but lie I said it's getting better every day I'm in it. We're mainly orange around here, we're pushing 30 tractors on the farm and 3 combines, all but 2 of them are allis chalmers/ gleaner, the Oliver 99 and a Massey 22 are the only odd ones out. Our 2 lawn mower are even simplicity 😆, but there's always been a local allis chalmers dealer and now agco is about a 25 minute drive from the farm down back roads even 😆. Thanks for watching I've gotta check out your channel!!

    D17 loose belt getting too warm, put some honey or molasses on the belt that will make it pull till you can get to the parts house for a new belt. It worked for flat belts on the steam traction tractors on the sawmills and threshing machines and silo fillers.

    Glad you got some video of the 99 getting a workout. I know it wasn't the plan for this year with both big horses going down, but the old timers got the job done! I love seeing old iron in the field. I guess that's part of why I love my WD45. It would be nice sometimes to have something a little bigger, but when you're barely farming 10 acres it really doesn't make sense to go bigger. And old tractors just look BAD ASS in the field too...Thanks for the video Tim, have a good one

    • @TimothyFluegel
      @TimothyFluegel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree completely there nothing lie seeing the old iron still doing its thing, with the Oliver 75 years later lol its amazing how stuff was built to last back then. With the 3 of us running we were only one bottom short from the big tractors it was amazing how much ground we were covering, being on the open tractors made it funner working together too could communicate better and give eachother shit right from the tractors on the way by 😆

But all jokes aside I am a 5th generation farmer, that was taught 2 things growing up... how work like a Mexican and cuss like a sailor, that's just me how I was raised they are just words, studies acually show that people who cuss in stressful situations have less stress. But also why I lable all of my videos for 18+.

      Thankyou John! I'm not used to overheating, I can work a hay mow in the dog days of summer all week, or run the d17 and front mount cultivator in 100 degree plus 12 hours a day no problem. But I think this was left over from having covid last winter, I'm getting better every day I'm in it but not quite right yet. Between my dad my brother, Bob, and me, There's too much equipment around here, I have to alternate year to year so stuff doesn't just sit and rott, this year it was definitely a blessing to have it but some times it gets a bit overwhelming keeping carbs clean and batteries good mainly, thanks again for watching and commenting John.
