    Is there any performance improvement or degradation in file transfer rate using NTFS?

    I remember this used to be a HUGE problem about 12-13 years ago when I started working.
    Then I discovered exFAT, and it was a revelation.
    Such a useful format.

    How do I permanently move all my NTFS files to an Mac compatible HD format quickly? I have over 2 TB worth

    So how reliable would this be if I am switching from PC to Mac, and my external RAID (DAS not NAS), is formatted as NTFS. Would I eventually want to change it, or could I just keep it? Only archival usually, barely ever use it to work off of. For an M2 Mac Studio Ultra.

    Cool vídeo! I've just bought a MacBook pro m1 pro and it's not recognizing my external drives (formatted as exfat).
    I tried seagate paragon software and nothing happens...
    Do you think it's a M1 compatibility thing? Does this software has a better chance?
    Thanks

      I've been using Seagate products also, u just need to carefully read the installation guide.

    O I should have asked the most critical question. Does it improve the mounting as I have 6Tb Drive that takes 24 minutes to mount.🤔

    I plan to switch from Windows to Mac; can I plug my NTFS external HDD into a Mac and transfer the files to a Mac external drive? I need to know before I spens lots of money on a Mac system. Thanks.

      Ntfs you can just read in mac with exfat you can read and write in both windows and mac.

    I can't even see the NTFS drive on a mac, not even in the mount. Nowhere to be seen. Also, I don't need another subscription just to read the NTFS drive. Hating on every company that's pushing ongoing fees. Does anyone else know another workaround ?

    Does it also work with BitLocker protected NTFS drives?

    • @iBoysoft
      @iBoysoft 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      iBoysoft NTFS for Mac doesn't read and write BitLocker encrypted drive with NTFS, FAT32 or exFAT file system, but iBoysoft BitLocker for Mac can do it.

    But with this software, do you need to downgrade your system security settings by entering the recovery mode and tinkering with how your system loads system extensions? I remember that being a problem with paragon ntfs

    • @ValentinKossenko
      @ValentinKossenko ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do need to also do that with this software.

    • @chrisalexthomas
      @chrisalexthomas ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ValentinKossenko which is a deal breaker for a lot of people, some who don’t want out system security compromised and others without the technical skill to do it. I’m genuinely surprised there isn’t a way to load file system drivers that don’t require this. What is different about the macOS operating system that you can’t safely load file system drivers? There is no publicly exposed system interface?
      I remember something changing recently with Mac and kernel extensions being replaced with system extensions. Are file system drivers not part of that?

    • @ValentinKossenko
      @ValentinKossenko ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisalexthomas That's a great question and I wish I could answer it but I just recently started to research all that stuff as I made the switch to a Macbook Pro after almost 20 years of using Windows.
      Right now I am still figuring out a viable way to access all my BitLocker encrypted drives on MacOS but I fear, I'll have to switch to APFS due to very slow transfer speeds (6-7 MB/s) with any of the solutions I have tried so far. On top of that, changing security settings like these make me very uncomfortable and it isn't necessary on Windows, which also allows you to at least read from the APFS (Encrypted) file system with third party software.
      As far as my research goes, APFS also seems to be superior in some aspects compared to NTFS and since I want to fully switch over to MacOS for the unforeseeable future, I think it should be worth it.
      But I'm not 100% settled yet as I have over 10TB of files sitting on BitLocker encrypted NTFS drives that I need to copy over to a new APFS drive somehow first.

    I loved the argument part of this video. Well scripted. Well acted. Great camera work. I enjoyed it a lot. Makes me wonder if you should be creating a TH-cam scripted show like this because I really could watch more of that type of content.

      Thanks Kevin! As with most of the things on this channel that was a bit of an experiment. I appreciate the feedback and definitely something I’ll be exploring in the future.

    I used to use Mounty for NTFS all the time. It's free and tiny. Drag and drop the files and that's it. Then Ventura killed it! :(
    Now I have to use Windows on the VM to transfer the files. Sure my external HDD is exFat but other people don't do that.

    • @nandoloken
      @nandoloken ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you found any other solution?

    • @NinPossible
      @NinPossible ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nandoloken Sadly, no. Mounty's website said they work on Ventura now but you have to install something extra which I don't quite understand.
      For now, I'm using Parallels. I know the trial period is only 7 days but you can set the time back and it'll work just fine. I only use it to transfer some files anyway.

    Of course, Apple is such a "great" company that their computers cannot write to NTFS discs without some additional fiddling. Shame on Apple!
