8 Bit Horror On The Game Boy Color

- This is a list of horror games available on the game boy color. The list includes some game boy color exclusives, as well as some homebrew games and fan made games. The homebrews and fan made games can all be played on a p.c. using a gameboy emulator, or can be copied to a flash cart and played on original game boy color hardware.
I'm legit stunned how gorgeous some of the art on these games have; I never expect much from mini/transportable consoles.
I really like how you show each cartridge (?) I didn't have a GB so apologies if terminology is wrong. So satisfying the way you snap it in --- that SNAP! is a great sound; I imagine it must be nostalgic for those who grew up with GB colour --- then transition to play screens, & you show a nice variety of active play & you don't race to cram tons of words in, & you're using an Indoor Voice & not bellowing at me at the speed of sound like were media-trained by a pack of roving car sales advertising spokespeople (otherwise known as TH-camr Voice lol). You take just enough time to show things.
Finally, it's a nice touch you sum each entry up with the title + other info, especially the price. Only a few retro games people take the time to do all that & I'm really glad that a more chill style of sharing retro games is evolving with the community. You do high quality work so I hope 2024 sees you grow as much as you are comfortable with.
I grew up in the Game Boy era (I was 5 when it came out) and yea, it was THE shit. I got an Analogue Pocket and the games I haven't held onto I am going back and buying to have my original collection. Then I watch videos like these to see what else I can add.

Fallen Crown is definitely one I'll be looking into. Looks kind of similar in concept to NeverDead. Hopefully the final product will be a lot more polished and entertaining than that one turned out. Nice overview. Put me on to some stuff.

Your channel has potential but PLEASE look into sound balancing. This video goes from barely audible (the first commercial with the kid moving through school) to the next segment being LOUD. The segment covering Buffy has a good balance of the game's background music and your voice.
Yeah the audio is the part I struggle with the most, and I agree, the intro ended up being not loud enough.
@rareplaygaming7109 this channel sucks kid 😂 hence why you can't even get 3k subs after doing it this long 😂. Maybe you should ACTUALLY put horror games instead of non horror games?

Blade was better than it had any right to be. I was definitely fan of Aliens: Thanatos Encounter though. The Aliens games had a few really unique takes on "Lives" and I loved the implementation here. That chance to "Rescue" a fallen soldier before he get facehugged (?) always had me contemplating whether I could afford to rush to the nest or if I'd snowball and get more people killed if i tried. Aliens: Infestation was another good twist on lives.
I picked up Blade and Dracula Crazy Vampire based on this video.
I agree 100 percent, Blade was so dam good! I wasn't a big fan of Aliens: Thanatos Encounter, but it did have some unique features, and it was definitely extremely ambitious.

45:30 ok now you just made me curious how many Adam Sandler video games are out there.
Are you using HQ2x or a similar upscaling filter? If so, it really didn't help Buffy (probably wouldn't look good anyways). Also, I'm going to have to disagree with you about Roswell Conspiracies looking good (fairly ugly, IMO).
I'm playing my cartridges on a Retron 5 to capture the footage. The rest are played thru an emulator and a hand held clone system that's preloaded with tons of games and has an A/V connection.
@rareplaygaming7109 If I'm not mistaken, the Retron 5 has some image filters like HQ2x. For me, sometimes they look good and other times they look a bit off. Though I don't think you can really hurt or help Buffy's graphics.
