Exactly! It's not Samsung's fault that DJI is too lazy and not innovative enough to make their device and software fully compatible with the s21 ultra.
DJI are the idiots... iPhone only makes one type of phone... Samsung makes phones that can be compatible with different carriers...DJI need to step up and not going the easy way... Make your stuff just as compatible with Samsung as you do with iOS...
it is an issue for those who buy Samsung. And that is what this video is about. And it is also downselling DJI gimbal in a way. Cos it is not all apples and oranges :D... But no gimbals app can meet Samsung camera apps. And there is always bluetooth options with limited features. That is still best when compared to other phones/gimbal apps.
It will soon be the case that apple pays for it at DJI, so that it has perfect settings, preferably only iOS and not Android. The same is true for Filmic Pro, instagram and the like. Therefore, even if you close Apple devices compared to Android, this is their advantage. I use android for openness, but the system is actually closed ... I can only change icons and trivial things. Important third-party applications are very limited in Android compared to iOS. That `s my opinion.
Companys are literally giving the market to Apple, because they are too lazy to optimize Android. Samsung with his hardware and updates optimization would completely destroy Apple by a mile!

It seems to me all the issues you had were operator error. Learn how to set up your ultra for the shots then I bet you'll get much better results. The S21 is an amazing peice of gear but any gear is crappy if you don't know what you're doing.
This is not the case, i 'upgraded' from the P30 pro 2 weeks ago, ive tried a multitude of different settings on this phone and this phone cannot compete with the P30 pro in terms of video quality, only if the lighting conditions are optimal can it compare. I truly hope they can sort this out via updates, otherwise ive wasted my money
You can use the buttons on OM4 in the native camera app - connect it by Bluetooth (not via the Mimo app)
All of your complaints are the third party issues, not the phone. The third party apps will/may eventually upgrade.
Not all, the cameras have different colors the stabilization has some issue. Everything can be fixed with some update. The argument about the lazy devs I hear all the time, but instagram has thousands of devs, dji is a really huge company as well. When you buy the phone you buy the whole package so if video content creation is important to you those are valid arguments to consider before getting that phone

The US version that uses the Snapdragon 888 has better camera and video with performance than the exynos international version.
100% fact and video performance has been tested against iPhones and the Snapdragon 888 actually has better video quality than iPhones.
If you are using the US version then I don't know what to say because most people I know prefer the performance from the Galaxy S21 Ultra video compared to iPhones.

Amazing video. First video I saw where someone so specifically highlighted all the cons regarding the videography on S21 ultra. Android should really focus on perfecting the compatibility with 3rd party software especially instagram.
I have the S21 Ultra and iPhone too. I think the issue with the candlelit videos you took with the S21 was probably that you had auto HDR on (which can be switched off in the video settings). If you switch it off and manually set the exposure, it should look much better.

@@FreeGafo the 21 ultra is grate in good lit conditions and the 8k is amazing, it's the low light where samsung has failed, but I have heard people say samsung is having a camra update so when that comes out it may fix some of the issues

The very first shot that you showed where the camera is rotating. Did you do that with the gimbal or post production?
You can use the rsd button to start/stop video or take s photo when you are using default app.
You can connect the gimbal to Bluetooth manually before opening the gimbal app and then you can use buttons to take photos using the third-party camera apps and native app.

Samsung recently released a software Expert RAW where you can shoot raw images using all lens. I'll look for your review about S22Ultra as it is said they'll bring some massive improvements to videography and maybe also bring sensor shift.
Yes it's true. Do you have a personal experience with this APK? When I still had the S21Ultra I always minded that not always after choosing a zoom lens the phone really took pictures through the zoom lens. Often he just made a cut out of the main sensor. The new Expert raw application is for photography only. When I want to set the video manually, I am again limited to the apk Expert raw. In Pro video mode, I only have the main and wide-angle sensor available. Both zoom lenses are again unavailable. It's the focus of samsung that I don't understand. But probably samsung will get money for making such a function not possible, otherwise I don't understand.
the real reason being for all those problems of dji mimo app/Filmic Pro/ Protake/ Insta/Tiktok/or any third party apps to fully control all the lenses in every Android phone is the CAMERA API access Level 3 Support that all the Android Manufacturer purposely locked it .And the only way to unlock all these features is to root the phone and enable Camera API access which is not worth it. You really nailed this issue in your review, lots of people dont even realize it.
Therefore, apon samsung should try. It should have its own applications where all these options are available. But for an incomprehensible reason, he voluntarily blocks these options from the user and does not want to make them available. I mean to record video with all lenses at 60fps and switch between them while recording, choose the frequency of shooting in fps in pro mode, the ability to balance white, compensate exposure, sharpness and so on. What I write is not impossible for samsung. He has access to everything, he is not a third party.
All the points as you mentioned 100% agree. There are other issues however that make any Samsung flagship basically useless for anyone seriously considering photography or video recording. Issues like stuttery4K 60 FPS, over sharpening, motion blur due to slow shutter speed, jelly effect on the edges while recording and even after post processing, dark and grainy indoor videos. Most reviews just plaster daylight and night time photos and compare with two or three other popular phones from the same year, and pat themselves on the back for making reviews.
100% agree the problem is all phones produce crappy footage indoor. And people wanna watch the epiick stuff that is why everyone is recording outside when it is sunny and at night
I have to agree. I use android and Samsung. I often take pictures of my children indoors by phone. Not in bad light at all. But the phone prefers to automatically select low iso and take photos at 1/30 or 1/50. It doesn't matter on static things, but when photographing people, the photos are blurred ... I also don't understand when I want to record video in 60FPS, I can't use a zoom lens anymore, and I have two at the end.
In order for them to be available at all times, I only need to record 30fps.
In addition, when I record with only one zoom without the ability to switch between other lenses, I also have the option to record 60fps. Another pointless restriction. In my opinion, this is only an intention, it would not be technically possible and the phone would not have the power to do so.
There is also a difference between Snapdragon and Exynos. Exynos in a worse light begin to decay and details are lost. This is most evident in the surface structure where the video is too scratched, out of focus. The snapdragon doesn't do this at all, and the video's detailed amount is natural, it can be regulated by reducing the iso, but at least it's possible to keep the details.

I got s20 ultrs I figured it out too ages ago when I upload to instagram and compare it to TH-cam That's why I never upload 2k or 4k video or photo above 12mp ON Instagram.

S21 ultra was a better phone, best video quality for me. I have no issues with S21 ultra. Highly recomended!
You can still use the gimbal without the app and overcome some of the issues you speak of. My buttons work just fine.
since you talked about screen recording, here is the issue I have with iphone and ipad screen record: it is giving me some odd frame rates and in post there are many frame misplacements and frame jumps. do you have the same problem? the workaround I do is to render it once at 25fps using media encoder and then put it in the premiere pro. but you know the frames are not aligned perfectly. I tried even right clicking, modified, interpret footage and set to 25fps and it crashes in premiere. it is frustrating
Yes, I've run into that issue. Most of the time I get consistent frame rates when screen recording but when I edit a video and screen-recording at the same time the frame rates are going crazy. The problem for me comes when I do a talking video and the video is completely misaligned. To fix the issue I chop the screen recording on parts like 3-5mins like that it is easy to audio sync.

You need to disconnect your phone from mimo app first and then you can use the Gimbal with Samsung camera app.

Filmic pro works fine for me in my s21 and you can use the gimbal without any problem, it's perfectly integrated with the app. IG really has problems not only with s21, with all android devices. About RAW option in automatic mode, I don't know if it was updated but now you can turn on RAW option in auto mode. Great video!
That’s great that they release updates and fix some of the issues. If they push hard on the updates the phone can become a killer
Do you have the option in Filmic to also select 3x or 10x zoom and shoot like this? You can select a frame rate of, for example, 50Hz
I love S21 ULTRA best video quality, before I used DJI pocket . If use good gimbal, S21 is best for video with surprising zoom .

I agree with everything. What version did you have? Snapdragon or Exynos? The video is a nice summary for people who want to get the most out of the S21 Ultra. Almost nothing is possible. There is a mode for, but only for the main and ultra-wide lenses. Both zoom lenses cannot be controlled. And that's a really big shame. Now samsung has released an application that zoom lenses can finally be used when shooting raw. But the video is not for an incomprehensible reason. I also don't like that in bad or bad light, the phone decides whether to use a zoom lens, or just cut out from the main sensor even if I switch to a zoom lens. With the new EXPERT RAW apk for photography, perhaps this is already solved ... but not for video.
The same goes for the settings restrictions in the DJI apk ... certainly the same in FILMIC PRO.
I don't believe Samsung could prove it. I almost think that's the point so it's not perfect. It's a deal between Apple and Samsung. The battle between the two companies is only to the naked eye. The same goes for Instagram and the like. Apple probably pays for this advantage.
I also had high expectations with the features on the papers and parameters of the S21 Ultra, but after personal experience I remained disappointed in many things. I have no personal experience with Iphone. I use android.

hey any issues with the super blurry video quality in super steady mode? mine is having that issue, mine is S21+, exynos version. this also happened in outdoor with much sun light
I didn’t like the quality of the super steady. Try to update to the latest version. They fixed some of the issues

I already took my phone to my local samsung service center, they did changed the camera hardware, but still didnt change. but one thing that made me confuse, this blurry quality in super steady mode video was found better in normal lens than the wide angle lens. yes i know, maybe i dont use super steady mode very often, but i find it stil useful for my shaky hands, and also, i'm very disappointed because the super steady mode in Note 10 + and S20+ (my family members got them), is much better, why does this newer version get worse. and also my wide angle camera for the back camera, is a bit not sharp. any suggestions? because i did type "S21 blurry super steady mode video" in google, and many people experience it too
I think The problem with manual control using gimbal is not in the Samsung phone, the problem is with DJI gimbal, only open features on iPhone and doesnt Open features on android phones in general not only in Samsung phones.
First, the video footage you made was great :D Now for the flaws you mentioned isn't really flaws. When you create content videos with the aims to upload them on IG or any other social media, it's better to record with the stock camera, edit in post with Premiere Pro, FCPX, Da Vinci Resolve or whatever and then export to the right format to have no lost of quality when uploading on IG or whatever. However the Pro Video only give access to the wide and ultra wide angle and yes... that's a bummer. I suppose we dont have access to the telephoto or zoom capacity because they are solely based on the AI and image processing therefore... the zoom capacity isn't really lenses dedicated to telephoto or zoom. I doubt we will have Telephoto or zoom in Pro Mode Video for that reason. I may be wrong but... why didn't they directly provide us access to these tele and zoom lens on Pro Video.
But there is one NEAT feature I love about the Pro Mode Video is the ability to record at 120p at 1080p. Why is that good ? Because it is fair enough to create great B Roll sequences, and B Roll with wide lens and ultra wide lens are actually what we are looking for to create some Daniel Schiffer style B Roll sequence. That's absolutely an underrated option that no one talk about :D

Dude. If you are using the S21 Ultra for IG, you don't need to use the Social Media App to use it's Camera. All you need is just use the Camera App of your phone and then send it to your IG story? How's that sound?
It sounds reasonable but it doesn’t work if insta is important to you. You cannot use the filters and 95% of the people record stories with filters especially girls. It really depends on your use case

I tried recording myself with a phone camera, And I tried sending it on my Instagram to see it's quality, I can actually use filters with it. But there's a bit of a problem, there's a lag of my video being sent to my story on Instagram. Idk why? Do you know why?

I just got the s21 and dji and noticed that the dji app doesn't utilize the full potential. My guess is because the ultra has so much more than the previous generation that they need to make updates specific for the ultra. Where as the iphone didn't need it because it was similar to the previous generation.
Maybe but I don’t think that is the only reason . If you switch to pro mode you don’t have access to 2 lenses so tthere are some restrictions.

DJI memo app has some restrictions in Android and that's not the negative for only s21 ultra..
That is annoying because than you have to use the default camera app but if you want to change some setting you have to jump back to the Mimo

Gabriel, you could use a £200 Android phone and make epic videos. Go on, get your hands dirty with a cheap Samsung, and upload them. You can always throw it in the Isar after. 😁 Another enjoyable video. 👌

Watching this a year later and a lot of this seems to not be the case anymore. And if you want a great gimbal, get a Moza MX 2. If you are serious about good footage from a phone, then nobody has really good stabilization. Just a fact. I shoot with a gimbal or tripod base. Truth is, I was part of a team that shot a commercial on iPhone 6’s. Nobody who watched knew what it was shot on unless they were told. Personally, I think that the 2021 iPad Pro is a much better camera than either the iPhone 13 or Samsung 21 Ultra. Or you could just get a pocket Red. Filmic Pro on my iPad or S21 Ultra gets me amazing stuff. The golden rules; keep it steady, give it plenty of light and make sure it’s interesting.

For TH-cam channel it will be a great camera. Get as well a gimbal zhyuin q3. But for instagram is not ideal
Bugatti comes with speed limit, you have to insert the key and unlock max potential.
People please enable "Maximum processing speed" on your S21 ultra, go to: Battery- More battery settings- processing speed- Maximum
All andrpid phone while using Instagram they don't use camera sensor they do screen recording that's why the quality on Android phones in instastories etc is so horrible that was the Reason I switch from gaalxy to iPhone after 10 years

The reason is only one phone a year with IOS and hundreds if not more with android system so the developers cannot make it optimize for all.of them all thise sensors screen sizes and soo on. If keep content o ly for myself probably I will.stay with galaxy series bit if u share your content IOS is the system to go

Check that one amzn.to/3ecoF0n Moza Mini MX. The gimbal app is not good but you can control the gimbal with the buttons. The motors are very responsive. Unfortunately, it is too small for my iPhone 12 Max but I think it will fit with the s21 ultra. OM4 is good but you will have to jump back and forth between the camera app and OM app to change settings and it is very annoying

What to say horrible marketing, same phone 2x different brains
What gimbal would recommend for the S21 Ultra as im considering one, my choices would have been the Osmo 4 or the Zhiyun Smooth 4, not really into video but think a gimbal might help photograph stability.
OM4 is amazing but it has one huge disadvantage, you can't change gimbal modes with a button. So you have constantly to jump back and forth between default camera app and dji app.
I never tested the Smooth 4 but I have tested other Zhiyun gimbals so it should be pretty nice.
I would check out Moza Mini MX - I tested that one and I were very happy with everything. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit the 12 Pro Max and the moza app is not great but the gimbal is fully operational through the buttons and you don't have to use the moza app at alll
The whole purpose of a gimbal is to stabilise video. If you want stable photography shots all you need is a cheap 15 or $20 tripod.

Your issue are with apps not being optimized for the phone. That's an issue with Instagram and DJI Samsung can't force them to optimize their apps better. This is because app developers are lazy and they don't want to create a single version of the app for every single Android that exists it's much easier for them to do it for the small amount of iPhones that exist. You're basically getting a ported version of the app. The phone is great the app optimization is not but Samsung has no control over that which makes your points in the video really irrelevant

@@FreeGafo I'm not sure I don't upload videos to third party apps. I haven't been into social media lately. There's to much division and and politics that started to stress me out. So I've avoided. I only stated what I said because every review I've seen about the SD 888 says that video is great but Apple still has the edge because of HDR. No way am I questioning your opinion. I was just wondering what version you had. Nice video by the way. I find myself watching smaller channels these days because you guys seem less biased.

But that is ok, that is what i like about TH-cam you are free to watch several opinions, it is not like watching some TV. If the snapdragon is so much better Samsung did a marketing mistake, they should name the phones differently
@@FreeGafoTrue! That's what people were saying last year. They felt like because there was such a big gap in performance the two version should be named differently. This year its closer. The exynos performs better at some things but all around the the 888 is better. I think once AMD makes the GPU for Exynos they will be superior. Only time will tell though.

Depends what yoy wanna record. The phone is multipurpose tool the gopro is action cam. In the moment you buy the phone you can count that you lost the money at least 50%. If the money are not deciding factor go ahead, but if you spend your last cents to buy the phone i would stick with the gopro and buy a good external mic with a recorder, produce videos in that way till i see is it worth investing in the TH-cam channel

I am reviewing the phone from the content creation side. 3d party cam apps work worse than on iphone, video stabilization is not great, social media apps are working worse than on iphone. They're not working worse, they're just not as polished because of lazy dev... Or rather, it's easier to make an app working on a few iPhones rather than on hundreds of Android phones.

The DJI mimo is specifically made for IOS and they support only a few options in android. You cannot blame Samsung for that, even my OP9 pro does the same with mimo.

Agree, but if you buy the phone mainly to record it is a huge limitation. Now Zhiyun released new mobile gimbal and it is a perfect combo with the s21 ultra but before u didn’t have that option.
That's right. But since no one completes the updates and options that are missing, the android device becomes insufficient for these functions. Not because of the hardware, but because of the software. But the fact that it is used only half is a bare fact. Iphone has more options for that.

I don't think you are degrading the S21 Ultra. However, it is DJI's fault 100% that their stupid device isn't as compatible with Samsung devices as with Apple devices. It's rather disgusting that they are too lazy to collaborate with Samsung to make their product as compatible with the S lines that consistently have much higher quality camera and video features than iPhones...
I shouldn't be forced to have a device that I don't want just because companies are too blind to see the value of making their product equally compatible with both devices.

@@FreeGafo BTW have you tried turning off the video stabilisation on the camera before pairing it with the gimbal? That sudden shake you experienced even during ninja walk is because the camera's own stabilisation is counteracting the gimbal's effect! When this happens, the camera's stabilisation system literally cancels out the gimbal's effect and thus you get no stabilisation. It's very weird; yet again it's not samsung's fault because they don't make phones according to third party companies 🙄
@@takayoshiyanai3895 i understand what you mean. My issue with the Samsung video stabilization is the wobbly background. That is caused by the digital stabilization. It appears even without a gimbal. Another is the 3d party support, it is true that is not a Samsung fault but you are buying the whole system not just the phone and as a whole video package there are issues

I also understand your point of view about the whole system; samsung just isn't compatible with third party gimbal's but honestly I'm more disappointed at DJI. OM 5 has the same issues and I was so excited when I purchased it. While the wobbly background issue without the gimbal is samsung's issue to fix, the rest is on the third party companies; meaning it's them who should make it compatible for samsung. Your message in this video didn't come through so clear; I'd actually enjoy if you remake it and address this issue from another perspective because the conclusion is still the same; if you are into professional video making which requires third party gadgets, samsung shouldn't be ur first choice and this is despite the fact that samsung's camera is astonishing even though there are problems with it

The phone will produce amazing quality. But there are inconsistencies that should not be there for that price. All the lenses have different color and feeling + the social media issues. It really Depends on your use case

I have the 12pro max and the only place it wins is some night mode video and pics. You also just complained about the gimbal not suiting the phone which shouldn’t be a negative against the phone because the gimbal that you specifically use isn’t made to be compatible with it. So just get another gimbal. You are clearly an apple fanboy so don’t do these videos.
Hey man don’t listen to him, he’s not being objective. He’s an apple fanboy. You can see in the video that he was passionate about throwing dirt at Samsung but when he said Samsung did better he wasn’t happy. I have both and I can objectively say the Samsung is way better and worth the money. The Samsung allows you to customize and change things within the phone that this apple fanboy doesn’t know. I bet this apple fan doesn’t even know what apk’s are lol. Samsung also has much better battery life, durability and freedom so I don’t know why he would say it’s not worth the price(oh wait he’s an apple fanboy😂). He even decided to complain about the screen recording, but all he could say about that is that it was weird, his complaint on this was literally 1 second and he still decided to complain. He also complained about the gimbal even though he could just get another one because the one he has is more made for iPhone.
@@ohyea2k349 Depends on the use case. In many ways, the phone is better S21 is equal or better. This video is focusing on the Video aspect of s21 ultra. As I said, if you need the phone for photos, it is better, but the phone is behind in the video world. When I say that the phone is overpriced I measure it from the video features and the whole app creation package. If video content is important to you this phone offers some amazing things but it is not the best package
@@FreeGafo I get better video on my s21ultra man the iPhone12pmax always has some type of flickering problem during the day. iPhone video also adds a yellow tint to skin and a filter look to it. It’s not realistic and it lacks detail because iPhone seems to just smoothen out the video to reduce noise. Stabilization is also better on s21ultra. s21ultra video > iPhone12pmax video, during the day, iPhone12pmax has only night mode better.
Ya I agree maybe bc at that time he made this video there was not as good as gimbals IDK. But the S21 Ultra is still today one of the best phones. People will say well the new ones you can space zoom at 60fps or higher LMAO. WHO THE HELL CARES

It's not the phone, it's the apps , do a comparison using the dj 4 on both phones and you will see how you will be blown away, this video title is very misleading.
When you buy a phone you buy the whole package. As I said in the video this phone is better than the iPhone in many ways but there are areas where it underperformance and the biggest problem is consistency. IPhone lenses are not perfect as well but they are consistent, when I record with all 3 lenses after that it doesn't look like I filmed it on a different camera, the white balance is very similar, the s21 ultra has a huge difference between the lenses + problems with 3d party apps. That doesn't make it as a whole package the perfect video phone if it would cost 700-800$ in that case it would be perfect

@@FreeGafo that's not my experience, and generally for any serious video or photography what matters most is the default app and hardware and then how easy it is to take it to real editing software on a computer which obviously Samsung is doing much better than Apple. It feels like you should get a different gimbal or wait for an update rather than slandering the device itself in a way that appears disingenuous for clicks.
@@AlexanderWare3 oM4 is the best gimbal on the market. This phone cost the same as iphone so I don’t see the problem comparing them. The Samsung video has issues maybe they will fix them maybe not. But if you buy a phone for content creation is important to know about those issues and the issues with the 3d party apps… as a photo device the phone is superior but I speak mainly about video content creation

The stabilization, the lack of consistent color among the 4 cams and the lack of pro mode for 2 lenses it’s not a 3d party issue. If you buy the phone to create videos you need good ecosystem
