    I managed to make the entire bouquet as a prop for a school presentation. Sadly, the wire that I bought was too thin and couldn't hold it very well and by the end of the class, I had to throw it out. Still a 10/10. 😂

    Great tutorial. What did you do for the stem parts after you put the wire in?

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Assuming you’re talking about the part when the wire loop goes into the rose and then the calyx is slid on, you actually don’t need to do anything extra 😄 the loop inside the rose portion and the pressure being applied from the calyx keeps everything together quite well on its own.

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can do it! 😁the latter portions which rely on previous creases / folds can always be a major hurdle, using something to help strengthen the crease/fold lines where they’re most important, like a pen/pencil/ruler that has some weight (also that doesn’t mark up /stain/scuff the paper) can help make those later portions easier, keep trying!! 😄

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is kind of challenging to get it at first, but once you get the feel for it, it’ll become easier. You use your hands to pull apart the 2 sides/open up the folded portion, then refold /crease along the previous lines from where they come to a point towards the middle, then you apply pressure down to flatten the bottom, the red portion that looks like a triangle will line up with the bottom edge of the right side. If you position the paper between your index finger (on the inside) and your middle finger (on the outside under the other paper part) while your pressing to make the ‘walls’ and flat portion, it can help the paper refold along the correct crease lines. Having stronger folds/creases can help as well. It’s kind of hard to explain in words easily but hopefully this helps a bit 😅

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop

      Other alternatives for the stem wire could be: wooden barbecue skewers/long toothpicks which could be coloured green with paint / markers, thin coffee stirrers, an old clothes hangar (the wire kind) where you could cut into pieces (need to be careful!) then if you can find green tape you can fasten them all together at the base which could then be wrapped after 😁

      Do you mean the upper layer that is being folded to the sides? Technically there should already be 2 on the top and bottom, and the pieces being folded left and right, and then opened/folded flat make the other 2 sides, if you missed a step earlier on slowing down the video speed can help notice possible missed steps, hope this helps! 😄

    Hi, besides double tape , what can i replace for the stem wire? Stainless wire possible?

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hi 🙂 yes steel wire can work, the best option would be a wire that is thinner but still strong enough that it won’t break and can hold its shape, so you can twist it more easily but it can still keep the flower from falling over/being fragile. Pipe cleaners (fuzzy kind for crafts) could even work and often times they come in green. Thicker wires are even stronger but may need something like pliers to help bend it so it may be a bit difficult. If you have other non-coated wires (that’s why stem wire is easier since it’s already green) and you can try green masking/painters tape or even green electrical tape to make the wire green if you want to use steel wire and want it to match the colour. Hope this helps 😊

      @@TheLittleGeniusWorkshop what is the gauge of your stem wire?

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For this craft we used 26 gauge stem wire since we were bunching together multiple roses in a bouquet and it didn’t need to stand on its own so thinner wire worked fine. For something like our tulip craft: th-cam.com/video/r_wRoxliars/w-d-xo.html , since the flowers are meant to stand on their own we used a slightly thicker 20 gauge which was able to hold the weight which you could consider if you just wanted to make the rose on its own 😁

    Hey , is possible too right if i use a 15x15cm paper for the rose?

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi 😊 yes 15x15cm will work just fine (we used 20x20 and technically any square size works) the only potential issue might be that the smaller the piece of paper, the harder the smaller folds can be, so if 15x15 is causing you trouble, anything larger should be easier! Hope this helps 😁

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep at it and you'll succeed eventually!😁 the biggest help (which you may have already been focusing on) is to really work to make strong creases during the more challenging second half, as the rose is taking shape.. As long as these crease/fold lines are well-defined/strong, being gentle during the later folding stages helps to ensure the paper naturally follows them, rather than potentially being impacted by being more agressive. Good luck and don't give up!

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a problem ☺️ you can do it! Sometimes thinner paper (ex. Standard origami paper) can rip less than regular printer paper since there’s less stress on the fold line with less thickness/tension, so you could try to get matching coloured origami paper and cut-to-size as needed to see if that makes it easier. Practicing the specific section that’s causing trouble can also help since folding/refolding multiple times in the same spot can weaken the paper too. Good luck! 😁

    Does any type of paper work for this ?

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes technically any kind of paper works. For the flower portion, thinner paper / origami paper will be easier to fold compared to normal paper you’d use in a printer, but the thinner paper will likely be more fragile so it just depends which you’d prefer between being easier to fold or being stronger/potentially lasting longer…😄

    I can't get the step after you said flip over

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a couple things that can help make this part more successful. First, changing the playback speed to 0.25x or 0.5x will help with following where each fold and crease line are, and secondly, which will help multiple steps after flipping over, is to have strong creases/fold lines from the previous steps as this will help encourage the paper to naturally fold the way it needs to without you having to fight the paper as much in order to get it to make the desired shape. Hope this helps 😄

      Technically any size can work per se, our recommendations are based on what we used and what works proportionately.. if you choose sizes that matches our proportions you’d get the same result 😄 the only challenge would be if you tried smaller paper which would make the folding/production much harder as you made it smaller and smaller. Good luck with whatever size you choose! 😄

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Around that part, making sure the creases/folds you do before you flip over will help the paper naturally follow the folds after flipping over (strong creases/folds helps a lot overall for the more complex portions of the rose), slowing down the playback speed can also help identify where the folds should be, it is one of the trickiest sections so taking extra time can help 😄

      Overall this origami craft is quite challenging, but the later stages really do benefit from strong folds/creases since a lot of the shaping/folding in those later parts rely on the paper following the previous lines, slowing the video down/pausing frequently to make sure the folds/creates are strong and they’re following the lines you want will make it easier for you 😄

    how thick is the stem wire?

    • @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop
      @TheLittleGeniusWorkshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used #26B gauge stem wire for this craft… if it was a single rose, thicker gauge wire would be more stiff/stable (such as #20 gauge) but since the craft is for a bouquet, and that #26B is thinner and more bendable/malleable which makes a larger bunch easier to manage/twist/work with, and the cumulative strength of the thinner wire is actually quite strong once you combine all the wires together/twist them to make one stronger wire, overall it was a better choice to make the bouquet 😄 hope this helps!

      For these kinds of folds that build upon older/previous ones, other than slowing down the video speed to more easily see where the folds are occurring, the other way to make these folds easier is to make the previous fold/crease lines stronger to encourage the paper to more naturally follow the way you want 😁good luck!
