There are so many ways to do lace insertion. Several machine stitches and hand stitches can give a very couture look. While those methods of lace insertion are beautiful, this video is about beginner skills. A starting point.
This is a simple way to level up a sewing project. Give it a try!

I have lace and more lace. All thrift store buys. This is perfect Thankyou.
Thrift stores are great for those finds!
No one ever says that to me haha!
My husband sometimes tells people I made (whatever I'm wearing) and all people say is "ooo!...do you do alterations?"
I've told him not to tell people as I don't want the attention (I'm super shy) and I feel pressured to make things for other people that I don't feel confident doing?
I even make sure to choose fabrics and styles that don't draw attention.
I sew for the pure enjoyment of it, the challenge it gives me and the satisfaction that I've made something that will last a long time in natural fabrics.
Maybe I'm the only person that's like this? 🤷🏻♀️
Loved this video ❤
Love this, everyone has their reasons they love to sew. It definitely is something that always gives you something new to learn. That's one of my favorite things. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tips Stephanie! Right on time for all the Holidays ahead.
Hey thanks so much for watching! Happy stitching ♥️
I love your content. Thanks
Thank you so much ❤️
loving the intro! Great video
Thanks so much Jas❤️
Thank you! I have a whole drawer full of lace, that I need to actually use... Also, your pincushion is so cute!
Thanks Kelly, I got the pincushion with I think it was 1000 pins from Amazon though it isn't packed with any sawdust so the pins push right through easily and make the bottom scratchy.
@@StephanieRubletz thank you!
Awesome thank you 🙏
You're welcome Lisa! Thanks for watching ♥️
Hi, thanks for the tutorial! Can I insert stretchy lace (4” wide) to a boho Gunne-Sax inspired skirt? I’m wondering if it will be able to hold quite a lot of gathered fabric.
Hey thanks for watching!
It's really hard to answer that without being able to see it. If it's really heavy, you might want to try elastic and a draw string.
Usually when I go to the sir Stafford hogg market in Kolkata with my mom, the first place I go to is usually the lace market, I've gone there so many times that the store owners basically know me and what I want; so when I usually buy lace in finite amounts, knowing me, the store owner points out bunches of various lace pieces hung out of the store shutter; Every..Time..I end up buying a large bunch at a really reasonable price; the packet of lace reminded me of that
Sounds like a place I'd get into trouble 😁
The funnt thing is that just before you started combining those two laces i was thinking that those two would look nice together in the way you were planning to:p. And now im thinking that a little ribbon in the same colour as your fabric would look realy nice inserted into the middle piece if this is the kind of lace that im thinking of:).
Great minds think alike❤️
So do you have esp that lets you see the bags of lace in my sewing dresser? LOL
Lol, more like knowing I have many kindred spirits out there ♥️
HI! New subscriber here. I just found your channel and your videos are amazing! One question tho, have you ever inserted lace into a garment to make it bigger? I have a lavander dress shirt from my dad and it fits me okay in the back but doesn't close in the front (curses of having big boobs); and I've searched for a video that could explain how to make it bigger with lace in the front (I thought maybe pleats? Or a gore/gusset/godet? I don't know how to do either of those three tho, so I'm struggling); but haven't found anything. I know this is an older video, but I really hope you see this. Love from Argentina!
Hi Bree! Adding space in the bust of a ready-made shirt can be tricky. Good for you for thinking outside the box on this one. Burnadette Banner just did a video on insertion lace that would be worth checking out

I think if it were me I would (assuming it's a button down) remove the button plackets and insert lace on either side or perhaps have strips running from the shoulders over the apex of your chest since that's where you'll need the extra fabric. Whatever you do, I'd love to see the result. If you are on Instagram, tag me with your before and after so I can see! My Instagram is always in the video description. Happy sewing❤️
✋🏻 guilty 😀!
😃
I decided to make an Edwardian princess line petticoat, with no sewing machine or experience. I'm not a masochist, you understand.....
Lol, oh I get that. Way to jump in head first! You'll learn a lot that way
@@StephanieRubletz Oh absolutely. I hadn't even replaced a button before and now I know why!
