My sister busted into the room while I was listening to this, stayed silent for a while then said : "It's pretty but it doesn't work, the original is better"... I don't know man, this version is so eerie I can't stop listening to it :') not saying it's *better* or anything, it's just different in a very magically gorgeous way.
@@nathallas3182Nah. The Beatles are notorious for writing great songs that are easy to improve upon. Almost every single cover of a Beatles song I've ever heard is better than the original.
Oh my word. This reached into me. I listen to a ton of music. I breathe music. Listen for hours upon hours every day, lots of different kinds of music, much of it very emotional. I discover hundreds of phenomenal songs to listen to, so even very very good music can be underwhelming to me now. I can't remember the last time a piece of music touched me the way this just has.
Friend showed me your channel recently. After watching many of these videos, I seriously wonder how one of your covers hasn't been in something like a TV or video game trailer yet. They all sound like exactly what those types of advertisements look for. From one musician and arranger to another, thanks for the great music.
I love what you did with this rhythmically. Between that, the obvious switch to minor, and the subtle "interference" in the middle, it gave it a very eerie, amorphous feel that really added to the somberness. I could imagine this playing over a funeral scene in a film. And I mean all of that in the most sincere, complimentary way, I swear. This is so very raw and stripped down and sad, but in doing so it is so incredibly emotional in the way music should be. I love all of your major to minor stuff, but this one really really stands out.
Oh my god, I sang this song at my a capella camp that got shut down and I left the paper that had all my friends' numbers on them at the camp accidentally and I've never stopped regreting it for 3 years. They meant everything to me and so did the camp. I cannot begin to express the ugly tears I have listening to this beautiful cover
I never was a fan of cover, but I really loves your minor key version covers! You can change the whole meaning of a song without changing the lyrics ! I am so impressed. You got so much talent, keep up with the great work!
Same, but (for me) Chase not only makes songs i love more beautiful, he makes songs I hate live on my Spotify playlist for years 😁 Minor key helps, but his immense talent with every detail of his covers make them his "own". Not just glorified karaoke like many covers.
Lyrics: Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly All your life You were only waiting for the moment to arise Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these sunken eyes and learn to see All your life, You were only waiting for the moment to be free Black bird fly, black bird fly Into the light of the dark black night... --- Black bird fly, black bird fly Into the light of the dark black night Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise You were only waiting for this moment to arise You were only waiting for this moment to arise
If there is a lord in heaven why hasn't this one been used as a game trailer yet to make you super famous and spread this breathtaking piece of art? Excuse me?
This is so beautiful and so intriguing. The electronic interference effect makes the song feel like it's taken a trip into the uncanny valley and come back with a thousand yard stare. It's awesome, gives the whole thing so much depth.
Thank god you're back. You had me scared for a minute. Hey chase I'm going home on leave soon from the army and I'm getting married. Me and my fiancé adore your music and was wondering if you can do a major minor cover of relient k's death bed song. It would mean the world to us
I'm reading this right after watching the cover Kurt Schneider and Tyler Ward just did of Hey Jude in minor! so if you're still interested go check it out, it's pretty great :)
+Charity Moore I have to agree this is also one of my favorite songs too. My dearest friend played it many times. He is gone now, but as a musician and songwriter himself, I know he would have loved this version as well.
I've listened to this song probably over twenty times today. My friend and I are planning to sing it for our school's Variety Show this May. I absolutely love what you do with music. Keep on singing!
It never fails when you put another song up... my body is just filled with so many feelings as a reaction of your work, with songs in combo with your voice! Love it!
as someone who loves the Beatles a whole fucking lot, I love this version so much. your voice is so eerie and perfect + you sing this song so perfectly, well done :)
I've always leaned more toward Minor notes in music, but hearing songs sung in them is amazing. Your voice is so hypnotizing, I can listen for hours. Thank you for making your videos :)
I always get scared of people doing covers of my favourite bands and ruining them but this is so hauntingly beautiful and most aspects of music that I love put together and I adore it so much. I adore voice, I can't help but sing along.
You are so insanely good on many many levels. I can't stop watching your videos. You are absolutely unique here on youtube and I wish you a major success!!
You are such an amazing artist. It's beautiful in a dark way. I went through tough times and the song is almost a window into the mind of someone listening to a beautiful song but with a heart full of grief.
This is my favorite song of all time. I never would have thought I could love it any more than I already do.....you've gripped a part of my soul I didn't know existed.
Genius here....I actually find this a wonderful journey you are taking people on. I wish you much success.....Surprising my ears on these very familiar songs, I have to say is really pure joy.
OMG you post dank karaoke versions?! I'm seriously about to support that! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT. True artists let their work be shared creatively. You win all the medals.
I've never had that many chills during a song before. You are absolutely incredible! I can't believe you haven't been noticed by a record label yet, but I'm sure you will soon, your talent is undeniable
Holy crap! Just found you and I am blown away. Only heard a few of your tunes and I am a fan. Been doing music professionally for over 40 years and I feel like a star struck kid! Wow.
The Beatles are my favorite! I was worried about a cover of this song because the original is so amazing. You did great on this! I absolutely love this Major to Minor series.
Chase, your covers are so incredible. You seriously hit the target here because I'm nearly in tears - this sounds so beautiful and haunting and melancholic, and I love it. I'd Like this a million times if I could. Thank you for performing and sharing this. :) (Side note: I always listen to music when I write and, I don't know, I just feel really inspired listening to your covers. Thank you for that.)
Your musicality, sound and ability to emote through your music gives me chills. You are haunting and soul affecting. Thanks for sharing your talent with us. Namaste.
I just found out about you an hour ago and I am hooked. This is my all time favorite song and you did it such justice. Your voice is so hauntingly beautiful.
I just heard your music for the first time this morning, and I am a brand new fan!! I sing 4 part harmony, and love the chord progression in your minor covers. Very talented.
i could listen to this song every day. it's a song that has always seemed lonely to me, and that is brought out beautifully in this rendition. thanks :)
These get more and more impressive with every song. I love these so much! It's like this little niche interest I've always had that I thought would never happen. Something like 'Take On Me' by A-ha would be incredible! "I'll be gone in a day or twoooo~"
Exquisite, once again. I didn't really know the McCartney version, so I looked it up. Your version is way more complex and troubling, like all of your 'Major to Minor' works. You manage to tap into the beautiful melancholy of these minor keys. Still in love with you here in Paris. More, please!
+Chase Holfelder Honestly I can't stop listening to this. i found it last night and I've been listening to it all day and last night. It's just so beautiful and the video was just haunting enough to match the tone of the song.
these lyrics are so powerful - it's said that McCartney wrote it about the civil rights struggle in the 60s, and this was a tribute to MLK Jr. Instead of being uplifting and hopeful, the minor version has turned the lyrics very dark and reflective. It's truly amazing what you've accomplished with this one. Well done.
New favorite man. This song is an all time favorite of mine. I had a close friend in middle and high school who passed away in college. The Beatles were kind of a thing. That song was one that summed us up, a definate theme. Let's just say it was the end of many a mix tape. That version brought back so many feelings and moments ... It was Amazing. I really enjoyed that one thanks sir!
My sister busted into the room while I was listening to this, stayed silent for a while then said : "It's pretty but it doesn't work, the original is better"... I don't know man, this version is so eerie I can't stop listening to it :') not saying it's *better* or anything, it's just different in a very magically gorgeous way.
Saying that a song is better with the beatles is like saying that sky is blue.
I don't think either is better. They sound so different.
nuh this version is better i dont know theres something dazzling about it
This song is way better hands down. Way more emotion than the original.
@@nathallas3182Nah. The Beatles are notorious for writing great songs that are easy to improve upon. Almost every single cover of a Beatles song I've ever heard is better than the original.

Same.
Plz share some songs with me that you like the most!
Johanna A. Florez, any song or artist suggestions?
Same here
Lol, I also, would enjoy a playlist or song suggestion haha, maybe even just a playlist you made on TH-cam, switch it to public or something haha.
Friend showed me your channel recently. After watching many of these videos, I seriously wonder how one of your covers hasn't been in something like a TV or video game trailer yet. They all sound like exactly what those types of advertisements look for. From one musician and arranger to another, thanks for the great music.
Dancing With The Stars actually used his cover of "Every Breath You Take"
I love what you did with this rhythmically. Between that, the obvious switch to minor, and the subtle "interference" in the middle, it gave it a very eerie, amorphous feel that really added to the somberness. I could imagine this playing over a funeral scene in a film.

Lyrics:
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for the moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life,
You were only waiting for the moment to be free
Black bird fly, black bird fly
Into the light of the dark black night...
---
Black bird fly, black bird fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You should do "This is Gospel" by Panic at the Disco
YES I AGREE. OH PLEASE DO A COVER OF THAT
Yeeessss
100000% AGREE
Nicholas Denstaedt yes yes yes yes
YES
If there is a lord in heaven why hasn't this one been used as a game trailer yet to make you super famous and spread this breathtaking piece of art?
Excuse me?
Wow a new experience to me . It's cute to listen the sad side of the song
Your best work.
Thank you. It's one of my personal favorites.
Definitely! I never gave the song a thought before. Chase gave it a Very Deep Soul.
The dissonant parts remind me of eric whitakers "sleep". I like this version of "blackbird" very much.
This is so beautiful and so intriguing. The electronic interference effect makes the song feel like it's taken a trip into the uncanny valley and come back with a thousand yard stare. It's awesome, gives the whole thing so much depth.
This is haunting. I love it.

yes!
fuck yes that song in minor would be amazing
U LIKE RELIENT K?! I LOVE YOU!
Wow. Just changes the whole tone of the lyrics. The pictures I get in my head are desolation and abandonment.
Like a crow? The carrier of souls in the afterlife?
Can you imagine Hey Jude in minor?
Josh Rose Someone already tried and it didn't sound too great.
The Beatles did that themselves lol
+Mr. Man Really? I thought that was one of Oleg's best conversions.
I'm reading this right after watching the cover Kurt Schneider and Tyler Ward just did of Hey Jude in minor! so if you're still interested go check it out, it's pretty great :)
The one with Kurt and Tyler was so good.
This is so amazing, I'm getting chills and I neVER GET CHILLS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME
Trash Can me too!!!!!!
Personally this is one of my ultimate favorite songs and you did an amazing job singing it!
I've said it before and I'll say it again. This dude is freaking amazing! I'll try and find all his videos I can.
Love from Kenya
I used to be absolutely obsessed with this.. so much nostalgia listening to it again!! A masterpiece
This is the sort of sound these lyrics were crying for. My God, I feel like crying.
Why are minor key covers so freaking good!
Everytime I'm having a hard time, this rendition of this song is the only thing that can calm me down. Thank you @ Chase Holfelder.
Dark, somber, oddly moving to hear Blackbird in Minor keys. Please don't ever stop. You bring something very special to music.
Wow, you can hear bits of Steven Wilson's "The Raven That Refused to Sing"! Astonishing!
I've always leaned more toward Minor notes in music, but hearing songs sung in them is amazing. Your voice is so hypnotizing, I can listen for hours. Thank you for making your videos :)
The chord progression and melody on the "black bird fly"-part. 10/10.
I just can't. The key, the voice, the lyrics. It all fits together so freaking perfectly and it's amazing. Nicely done chase!
Okay. I know I'm a bit late from when this came out but gods save us, this is fucking gorgeous
This is stunning, I love it so much!
+Chase Holfelder I'd like you to do some songs by Coldplay in minor as well.
+Star564ify That's a great idea!
Tristan Boyd Thanks! I appreciate that. What ideas do you have?
As far as Coldplay goes, I would love to hear The Scientist.
The harmonies in this one are so pretty
I always get scared of people doing covers of my favourite bands and ruining them but this is so hauntingly beautiful and most aspects of music that I love put together and I adore it so much. I adore voice, I can't help but sing along.
You are so insanely good on many many levels. I can't stop watching your videos. You are absolutely unique here on youtube and I wish you a major success!!
You have no idea how happy I am that you covered this song.
You are such an amazing artist. It's beautiful in a dark way. I went through tough times and the song is almost a window into the mind of someone listening to a beautiful song but with a heart full of grief.
Reminds me of something off the soundtrack for "Series of Unfortunate Events".
Same!!!
This is my favorite song of all time. I never would have thought I could love it any more than I already do.....you've gripped a part of my soul I didn't know existed.
This is the best version
Wow Chase, you're incredible. I can't think of a time when I was less than amazed with your work, keep on doing what you're doing, it's working💕👏👏👏
Genius here....I actually find this a wonderful journey you are taking people on. I wish you much success.....Surprising my ears on these very familiar songs, I have to say is really pure joy.
Not only a technically brilliant idea for new chord changes, etc., but you sing with a rare and beautiful depth
Absolutely gorgeous. Blackbird is one of my favourite songs, and after this cover, it makes me love it even more. Stunning voice!

would love to see what he could do to "Sounds of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel
MrJsears31, it's already minor
Oh my god yes
He could do it major, then.
I would love to see him do a cover of that. Just a normal cover cuz it's minor already.
I've listened to this a million times. It's so melancholy and beautiful, I just want to put it on repeat forever.
This is one of my favorite Beatles songs and I love the totally different feel your arrangement gave it. Awesome job as always, Chase!
This is giving me incredible chills. Like, seriously. Wow. You've really outdone yourself, man.
What I like about your voice is that you really do make it your own. I love The Beatles, I love your voice. Keep it up man.
Great work, as always. Waiting for your next update from major to minor. You´ve got a fan in Spain:)
Holy crap! Just found you and I am blown away. Only heard a few of your tunes and I am a fan. Been doing music professionally for over 40 years and I feel like a star struck kid! Wow.
This is just incredible. I've always loved this song by the Beatles and I'm sure they would agree you did this song justice.
The Beatles are my favorite! I was worried about a cover of this song because the original is so amazing. You did great on this! I absolutely love this Major to Minor series.

this is my favorite Beatles' song, and you absolutely killed it. I love how haunting it sounds
WOW... you did it AGAIN, Chase. This is amazing. I never considered Blackbird to be a particularly 'happy' song, but this is particularly impressive.
I just heard your music for the first time this morning, and I am a brand new fan!! I sing 4 part harmony, and love the chord progression in your minor covers. Very talented.
Chills down my spine! I remember this song part of my childhood. (And all other Beatles songs)
You made the song yours in such a magical way and your voice is absolutely stunning! It just left me speechless! Great, great job, loved it!
There is no way you could have made that song any better you are brilliant!
i could listen to this song every day. it's a song that has always seemed lonely to me, and that is brought out beautifully in this rendition. thanks :)
This is absolutely beautiful this way. I've always loved the original song but this version is just.. supreme.
These get more and more impressive with every song. I love these so much! It's like this little niche interest I've always had that I thought would never happen.
Something like 'Take On Me' by A-ha would be incredible! "I'll be gone in a day or twoooo~"
I love it! It's different, but still beautiful!
Damn Chase back at it again with these beautiful minor chords
I love this!!! The cool synth sounds in the background really remind me of Dhani Harrison (George Harrison's son)'s album In Parallel!
Exquisite, once again. I didn't really know the McCartney version, so I looked it up. Your version is way more complex and troubling, like all of your 'Major to Minor' works. You manage to tap into the beautiful melancholy of these minor keys. Still in love with you here in Paris. More, please!
I wish this series got more attention, it really deserves it!
love the major to minor project man. love the emotion you put in to your work, love from norway.
first line and I had chills.
Ooh! Ooh! Have you ever though of Landslide by Fleetwood Mac? Sad lyrics, but the original is in a major key.
Finn the Doctor y e s

I cannot get over your videos. dude. Absolutely amazing. keep it up and dont give up.
I adore this song, it's been a favorite of mine since I was little. But your version brings out the depth of the song. 💞
these lyrics are so powerful - it's said that McCartney wrote it about the civil rights struggle in the 60s, and this was a tribute to MLK Jr. Instead of being uplifting and hopeful, the minor version has turned the lyrics very dark and reflective.
