Three months ago I visited this quaint, friendly town for over a week …Enjoyed the historic museum with a very knowledgeable curator, engaged in a friendly conversation with an apple/pear orchard owner and randomly handpicked apples with my girlfriend, found great bargains at the thrift store, was impressed with the crafty and creative locals at the weekly farmers market, took walks around the river spotting a variety of fowls and a deer with her fawn…and smiled at every corner as strangers waved from their cars or opened shop doors for me. Oh and a few miles out of town I soaked in a natural year-round spring and sauna. It has its rustIc side with a touch of nature and “homegrown people.”
I moved here 5 years ago from Boise and I have been targeted by the City of Emmett; more specifically, the Mayor and former judge in a HATE crime that is “ongoing”!!! (In an attempt to bully me into selling my home to the next door neighbor for her mother who is illegally living in their backyard in an RV)! The City has been dragging me through civil court for 5 years on bogus charges. Yes; it’s an extremely UGLY town. Beverley Joy Nicholl, 504 West Second Street, Emmett. HELP!!!!
@Beverley-Joy Nicholl You say you moved from Boise to Emmet 5 years ago, and you have been in trouble with the law for all 5 of those years? Was the neighbor's mother living in the RV, when you looked at your house before you bought it? When you say "illegally living in an RV", are you referring to a city code/ordinance? If so,... heads up; "Small Town Idaho" isn't exactly known to be ---- "by the book" --- "common sense" is the "rule of thumb". The reason I asked is; I have friends who have lived in Emmet for 40+ years. They say it's a friendly little town.
They are absolutley right, Emmett is absolutley terrible, please do yourself a favor, and don't move here, don't build your subdivisions here, and most of all don't try to change it into a new big city. So the bottom line is STAY AWAY.
I grew up there. There’s more to do than meets the eye. We swam in the canal or up at the dam in the summer and ice skated on the frozen water left in the big canal in the winter. I picked cherries to earn the money for my 10 speed bike. My girlfriend had horses and we rode them. I was in band and did 4H. I gardened with my Grandpa. My brother was in Boy Scouts. The church to a bus to Nampa once a month and we went roller skating. I got to ski at Bogus Basin a few times, it was expensive but I now ski as an adult. There are many activities not far from Emmett as well. We felt safe walking anywhere because everybody knew everybody. The list goes on.
My grandfather built a mill there in 1917, then a house on Main Street. There is a street named for him- Dion street. My dad was born & raised there, retired there in 1970 from service in the Air Force. My grammar donated lumber to the Catholic church when it wanted to expand. Sweet, sleepy little town.
We have daily tornadoes and tsunamis 🌊 so be careful moving here. The dome Highschool is how all buildings should be built especially in places with high wind. Wind blows right over
The main road through town N. Washington Ave is UGLY, the old town part is not bad, some of the older historic houses are nice, the residential and the semi-rural areas are a mixed bag some nice some not so nice.
A few years ago Seattle wanted to be known as the Emerald City,... so,.. Toto's a pig? A few years ago Portland bragged about it's "Quality Of Life",...so,... what happened, was it sustainable? A few years ago Las Vegas bagged about being a Beautiful Desert Oasis,.. so,... got water, ? how about a Pontoon Boat Party on Lake Mead? I do not recall Emmet Idaho ever bragging about much,.. ; )
I was an exchange student living in Emmett back in 2008. I'd hear jokes like "imagine being a exchange student and end up in Emmett", but I had a great time there, made a lot of friends, the school is not that bad, people are so dramatic. Hope I get to visit someday again.
I absolutely LOVE Emmett! I've been here my entire life! My parents grew up here, too. Compared to Weiser, Emmett's beautiful. It might be small and boring sometimes, but it's a quiet and wonderful little town. Everyone knows everyone, we know our way around, and our manners and customs are excellent! That's why we don't like people moving here. Our kind, respectful little town is becoming, well, Boise. And that's not what we want. I might be quiet, but I won't sit around and allow people to trash-talk Emmett. 😂It's a great town and we'd like to keep it that way.
I travel to Idaho every Elk season from Northern Michigan. $$$. $850,000 for a 3 bedroom 2 bath house on 10 acres in Northern Idaho. The realtors in St Marys tell me that they're absolutely embarrassed to list these things. I own the same description in Michigan and might be able to sell it for $175,000 😂 might?? Everybody that lives there tells me California has ruined everything. Nice place to hunt but can't afford to live there that's for sure...
@@puddles1458 probably going to start. (DAV non-resident) got reduced to 300 tags in Northern Idaho. Logged on December 1st 27 minutes early and there was 14,000 people already ahead of me. Plus they raise their regular non-resident tags to $780.00 + General hunting license fees. With that being said I will gladly pay Colorado $660 and much closer to home as well.

Because they're NOT OUTDOOR PEOPLE.
That's what makes people say stupid things like this.
With a population of under 7000 Emmett is barely a city. If you want to see a really ugly city visit New York City.

I’d have guessed Arco.

We have small town charm: festivals, community theater, sports, 4H programs, etc. Plenty to do if you want to...
JUSTICE 4 EVERETTE JACKSON!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️

maybe we don't want Aunt Bea, Clara Edwards and her coffee klatch from Mayberry randomly judging front yards and having cars towed
Amen Mayor!
The land that time forgot!
It's not a bad thing. It will keep the trash out.
I hope I can live here one day a very nice place
Emmett is a beautiful area.
Emmet should have Charles Marohn from "Stong Towns" to come talk at their town.
I submit for consideration Mountain Home, Bliss, Declo…
Beautiful place Emmett Idaho from halfway Oregon says so 💯🇺🇲

Why don't you hunt Colorado instead
