The most frustrating aspect of this show, was how much disrespect Matt got as a QB. The guy was a backup, yet took the Panthers to the State Finals multiple years. Yet, every season, there was always a threat for him at QB. He deserved better.
I just got the peacock app bout 3 months ago.. Started watching this show i'm on season 4..... What a great great great show..... The coach is the best fictional coach ever!
Bringing Voodoo in was Buddy Garrity's idea. Bad idea... thats often happens when the boosters try to run the entire football program. Let the coach make the decisions.
True Voodoo backfired, but overall I think it helped the team because it made them rally around Saracen and eventually solidify him as QB1. Before then he was just a backup QB who was thrust into the starting lineup only out of necessity. No one was yet convinced whether he was good enough to help them go all the way.
Yeah but Hollywood doesn't see that as a fumble.. would've been much more dramatic if that play wasn't ruled a touchdown and they picked up the ball and ran the other way with it
Art imitates life. Check out the Honey badger’s punt return his sophomore season at LSU in the SEC championship game. They missed that call too!!! 🍯 🦡 🐅
aldis hodge is a really good actor. This show is one of the best ive ever seen. There was not one actor who didn't play their character well. Even the small minor characters in different arcs.
I like that Coach Taylor was firm in getting points the right way. If a team is allowed to do whatever they want it’s not a good team even if they get a lot of points.
He was also doing to much because the boosters had some control of the team. A coach in real life would’ve knew how to make it work because he was clearly the most talented player and the problems he had was something a real coach in real life would’ve talked to him about so he can better understand them. Just like he does with all the other players
Not sure if you know this but in order to win you have to score more points than the other team, that's kinda the object of the game. That's exactly what makes a good team and a winner vs a bad team who loses. A good coach knows how to fit a system around his players not put in his system whereever he goes even if they lose just so they can stroke their own ego
Football/Mostly Any Sport is a Team Concentrated Activity it's not one of those things you Lone Wolf it, Tryna get through to Voodoo is like tryna punch with your Bare fists through a Solid Concrete Wall dude is the Epitome of Hard-Headed.
Voodoo knew his value to this team and didn't react to Coach Taylor the way he expected & wanted. The rest of the players towed the line. Was there a little racism in that? Maybe more ego than racism.
There’s a lot of good games but the music, the importance of the game, the rivalry, the insane amount of extras they got for the crowd and the end result make the Dillon Arnett Meade game my favorite in the show
I don't know how much was invested in the writing in terms of play calling, but Pro Right 999 Gun should be a four verticals style play (could be wrong, still learning, play art) - exactly the type of thing a guy who solely gets by on his athleticism would call that is easy to snuff out. A nice touch.
Matt had the biggest balls in Texas by dating his daughter. I've known a couple intimidating dad's. Coach Taylor? Man when he hits ceiling,he HITS the fucking ceiling
Voodoo looks like plaxico burress (former steelers and giants). Coincidently, they both has same attitude also, pretty good but think he is second coming
As a coach, if there is one thing I despise so badly, it's undisciplined players. I don't give a fuck if you're Tom Brady, it's never about you. This is the ultimate teams sports, and attitudes like this can make you lose
Aldis Hodge wasn't watching himself during this scene, but don't let it distract you from the fact that he actually makes watches. It's his second job aside from acting.
I always hated the boosters in every football movie or show because they are just guys who are playing to get a future and they try to mess it up for them just wanting to win state
I'm pretty sure Voodoo pulls a Kaelin Clay and drops the ball at the 1/2 yard line before actually crossing the goal line. Shouldn't have been a TD lol.
Watching the show as an adult gives me a better perspective of the voodoo Tatum saga. They were not doing him any favors in making him able to succeed I mean he obviously was the best player on the offense other than maybe smash but they’re calling screens for riggins? Also coach needs to understand this kid just went through a catastrophic event in his life so he should have tried better to make him a member of his team and not an outcast
Saracen was no superstar; just a hardworking quarterback who respected his teammates, his coaches and gave it 100% on the field. I'll take him over Voodoo or JD McCoy any day.
Hahaha. That's because you settle for mediocrity. Hahahaha. That's exactly what Matt was. Voodoo was 5x better than Matt but because he was confident and he had a bit of attitude racist people like you deny his physical talent
I'm sorry, I'm with whatever wins the game. That young man might have been logical with his play calling. If he succeeds, give him the praise for a good call.
Well, this actually comes up when coaching Vince, Coach Taylor didn't know how to coach a QB that's the best athlete on the field, who can scramble and improvise better than the structure of a play call. This time Coach Taylor seeks the help of a former QB to help him make Vince a great player.
I said I want my backpack all of its contents back and Justice against the Fremont County Sheriff department and affiliates in Canon City Colorado it's very simple they fucked up and they're going to have to pay
See how they made the leading white character in the show, Riggins, as a drunk who dropped out of college with no future. See how they made Smash the leading black character as a caring, hard-working black man who loved his family. In the end, Smash the black man goes to college and fame. Riggins the white man is an ex-con with little future and working in a bar. See how the show treats people of all races as both successful and failures, good and bad, successful and stuck at home as a has-been for the rest of their lives? Did you actually watch the show....or just a few trailers on TH-cam?
@Díto Forgot about JD. If anything FNL made the black players into fantastic, admiral characters. With faults? Absolutely. But Smash and Vince were heroes.
Smash was about to go beat up Voodoo after he knocked over the Gatorade things and Smash was taunting Voodoo after Coach kicked him off the team. This has nothing to do with race. It had more to do with a guy playing for himself and not the team and Smash saw that all the way.
