You need to go wide open throttle, crank a bit and stop. Give it a short break then repeat. The compression warms the chambers a bit, the starter cools, batteries recover a bit. You won’t burn out the starter that way.

You should plug it in before you start it. It’s hard on the starter otherwise.

Idle it up after it starts. I'm sure with all the cranking it had oil pressure. Once its running idle it 900-1100rpm
