Precious painting. Love all of your sweet babies you adopted. I have about 30 rescues...horses, dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, a bull, steers...haha...so, I truly love that you support saving animals that need loving families. This painting is dear to me as one of my favorite cats passed away 3 years ago and I miss her every minute of every day, it was a deep bond between us. :)

I always find inspiration in music.
I was listening to Halsey one day, Colors was the song, and I really want to take her lyrics “Everything is blue. His pills his hands his jeans..... Everything is gray, his hair smoke his dreams” and I wanted to bring it to life. I haven’t done it yet but my biggest inspiration is music.

What inspires me most to make art is exploring a lot out doors. Sometimes it's just my yard or sometimes the woods or beeches. I also get inspired from observing wildlife books or fantasy books as well. I'll get inspired by watching anime or playing a video game.

I thought that this was so interesting! Because what I listen to when I draw is...you! Learning about your journey really inspired me to really start practicing and I've even started recording videos of my journey through learning art and how to draw. And whenever I'm recording, I'm always listening to your videos like this one (I'm actually stopping my recording for a sec to write this). Thank you so much for the inspiration. I love your work so much and it really pushes me to learn more and improve myself.

wow... hearing you talk about being inspired by nightscapes and nebulas resonates a lot with me. I found out recently that i really enjoy painting to the point where i lose track of time, and these are wonderful subject matter to catch with paint. i just love to watch how you build up colors. Thanks for another great upload!

This is a beautiful painting as always. I particularly like the way you have painted the sky and I really enjoyed hearing the ways that you find your inspiration and keep notes for yourself to refer back to when you start working on a new painting.

I love these time lapses watching a piece come to life is wonderful!
I think a nice addition to these videos would be a little caption saying when it's a new day (so Day1 then when it changes to a clip filmed the next day have Day2 ect) and a total of how many hours it took to complete.

I find my inspiration looking at other artists as you mentioned in the video, but i also find inspiration by reading. I love to read and let go of my imagination, sometimes the best ideas come after reading a chapter or a single line form the book. As always, i really love the content in your channel and i'm very happy to have found you a long time ago. Love you and your Artwork! btw, sorry for my bad english tho

Hi happy, I find watching you and your good friend Lena very inspiring. You in particular got me interested in trying oil painting. I'm now in the middle of my first oil painting. I've kinda stopped in the middle afraid to ruin the good stuff I've done so far lol but I will get back to finishing the oil painting soon. I am very inspired by being out in nature. I have a particular interest in portrait work so I get inspired when out and about watching people. I also love sci fi and fantasy films. I love to listen to music, though I do have to listen to music I don't know the words to or classical when I need to concentrate or I will sing along lol I enjoy watching your videos. So thank you for sharing 😊

The little flower details are so cute :) I really like the color contrast where you added the red ones.
Have you ever listened to Lindsey Stirling? Hearing your description of the type of music you listen to, you might enjoy it. She plays violin and adds dubstep behind it. It's amazing and very powerful.

Thanks so much for sharing. As an aside, I really appreciate how you showed some of your color mixing technique in this video. I watch your speed painting videos all of the time, and really get a lot out of watching the choices you make in mixing colors. I apologize if this is too much of a request, but can we see more of your color mixing technique (in these videos or in a dedicated vid)? THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOU CONTRIBUTIONS to the art community! You are one of the GREATS!

I draw on the train some sketches (or at the zoo or other places I can see people). Normally the drawing starts out with a face or a clothing item I see being worn and then morphs into something else. these sketch journals then remind me later or spur on new ideas.

Hi happy D I love your art I think your a very talented artist and you give me so much inspiration as a beginning artist. I don't really have a lot of money and I work with acrylics instead of oils. I have recently been very interested in learning how to paint skin tones and practice anatomy. This is the first time I'm attempting to paint something like this and I'm planning on using acrylic retarder so I can layer it like oils and I was just wondering if you could maybe give me some steps on how to go about painting the skin tones...Like should I start off with shadows and blush like you do or should I have a light base color before moving to shadows and blush since I'm using acrylics? I'm all new to this but I really want to grow as an artist. Many youtubers I follow either deal with oils or watercolor. Not many use acrylics. But so far you have been the most inspiring artist to me I really love your works especially the surrealism in them and hoping maybe if you have time I can get some guidance because I'm terrified I'll mess this painting up epically being that I'm using acrylics not oils lol. I'm well known for freaking out and trying to be ultra super prepared for things before I begin them I guess because I kinda scare myself into thinking everything has to be perfect or I'm worried instead of a beautiful geisha in a lily pond she'll turn out looking like Freddy crooger or the bride of chucky😂Thankyou for your time if you've read this. Im sorry this so long lol. :)

Recently, I've been getting inspiration from those month-long prompt lists. I rarely use even half of the actual given prompts, but the sight of a single phrase, or especially a single word, really gets the wheels in my brain turning.
Has anyone read the manga called Bakuman? It's a manga about people who create manga. Despite how sedentary a subject that has the potential to be, it gets intense, it gets dramatic, and it is one of my favorite stories to read when I have a bit of downtime. When I can finally pull myself away from the thing, I almost always start drawing because watching these characters with all the traits of any good shounen manga duke it out to be the best mangaka they can lights the biggest fire under my butt. Love, love, love~
Classic Nicktoons have this rich style and energy I've always wanted to have in my work. The designs of the characters, color schemes, and environments really show you how much the creators were in love with embracing the fun and the expressiveness of cartooning. I especially love the art of Ren and Stimpy, which is responsible for pushing my art in a new direction. Oddly enough, though, I've never watched a lot of classic Nicktoons...
Watching other artists like you and Kasey Golden work puts my mind in a good place to work as well~

You should make a video over the same face syndrome thing. I have issues with making the same facial expression when drawing. Hopefully you can shed some light and give me advise on how to get over it. (: hopefully I gave you an idea!

Try drawing features of characters slightly different every time, especially with eyes. Don't draw eyes the same way all the time, unless you are trying to draw the same character. Look at photographs of people with different facial expressions and study their similarities and differences. I have the opposite problem. I try to draw the same characters, but they look different every time instead of consistently the same person.

did you use a reference for this painting? thank you for being inspiring. this video was v helpful for me, how long do your oil paints take to dry? and do you usually have much leftover paint that goes to waste? you make me want to try oils! but Im quite eco conscious and I know that oil paints are sooo much better than acrylics but im trying to determine what kind of waste they entail. sorry thats probably such a random comment haha. x

I'm just wondering, do you ever have back stories, a meaning, or purpose that is hung behind every artwork, like how you explained for this painting your long loving relationship with your cat huan huan. And if you do have for certain pieces, would you ever share them? Just a curious thought, XD cuz my inspiration for art is all captured by certain events that happen in my life, basically strong or weird emotions.
    just me? XD ahaha okeeee
Love your art though, a great motivation to improve my art XD

Here to suggest a video about your opinions on do's and dont's videos. I noticed that a lot of people are bashing (I guess) artists that make these type of videos saying such things as "how about draw what you want coz everyone has an art style?" I really don't get those people because the given artist was just giving some tips on a specific art style.

All of my artworks are inspired by smells. They never make sense as to what it is, like I have a painting titled "Floral Undertones" and it's an abstract painting of an old man putting away groceries. My memories and thoughts are all tied to smells, even if they don't make sense.

Hi Happy! Thank you very much for the video and the inspiration you always give me! If you may, please check out the subtitles I made for this video in Russian, so that you could expand your audience and find more patrons. If it's okay, I'll continue translating your videos. The reason I'm doing this is not only the huge inspiration you give but also the good advice and explanations you give on the topic that so manny artists in many countries are worried about. I honestly see no reason to repeat these thoughts in other videos because you have already covered these topics fully. I hope to see your comment here as I've written to you on Facebook and on your website but there has still been no reply. I understand your workload, so maybe it'll be easire for you to see my comment here.
