Hey there Matt and Haz - So, now I have followed all your journey. Fantastic, I really enjoyed that! Felt flattered that you liked Switzerland so much. Will be thinking of Matt the next time I go for a swim in that river bath in Zurich (Lettern). It would have been exciting to watch anytime but was a good diversion, me being stuck in my room in quarantine, my family bringing the food to my bedroom door. Now, I have a couple of questions open but I can't be bothered to click my way back through all the episodes (sorry :-) - Did you find out that the white&black birds in Liechtenstein were storks? And what did you think of Vienna as one of the most liveable cities in the world, as Melbourne is very dear to me, too :-) Thank you both for having shared your experience. I hope to make the tour in a few years time with my son before he changes to senior high or learns a trade, when he can get a break in school. (We might leave out the bit after Edirne, now that I have seen it all). Finally, sorry for having addressed you gent first and then the lady but in this particular case it did not sound quite right (funny, you must hear that so often). Thanks again and bye for now! Claud Butler, Switzerland - now on to the final episode!
Good evening Claud, I meant to reply sooner and thank you for your comment but we've been busy finishing up at work and we're now on furlough leave for December. Which is actually good news as I will have plenty of time to edit the full film of the trip. I'm so excited to do so! So claud thank you so much for your kind words, I showed Harriet and she was so happy too. Its great go know we have provided some joy in our videos, especially in lockdown times. We certainly enjoyed the cycle! Storks yes! I think someone said! My bird knowledge is pretty weak! And yes we absolutely loved beautiful Switzerland. I think its the first hills and then mountains that we've ever cycled on and they were so hard at the beginning but then you learn to love them. Harriet not so much ha! But then we reached the river again and it was pretty flat. Very pretty, actually! Just everywhere you look is incredible scenery and we will return. Hopefully with more money next time.. 15euro for a guiness ouch. My fault.. should have not bought an Irish beer in Switzerland ha! And Liechtenstein too. Just wow. What a memorable experience we had especially as it was national day. We were so lucky!! Thanks so much for watching and saying hello, it was so nice to read! I hope you and your son can do a tour in the not too distant future. We plan on perhaps some eurovelo 1 next year:) Take care and thanks Claud! Merry Xmas
Oh and Vienna.. hmm we loved it buy actually we prefer our London, and I prefer Melbourne where my younger brother has a bike shop in St kilda (Just Pedal).. maybe you know it haha! Its a small world! I thiugh Zurich was especially liveable, as you know we loved it there. We also thought Amsterdam should be on the most liveable city. Such great friendly people and way of life. Basel too we adored. Even in the big rain. I love the rhine there and how people swim in it, eat by in, drink by it, love it!
@@MatHall Hi Matt. Hey, How kind of you to have reacted to my comment. Thanks heaps. So next time I am in Oz I got to check out that bike shop of your brother's (I once lived in Fitzroy North). Hey Mat! Hey Haze! What a jurney you had! it was so inspiring...congrats to you both on completing this achievement. I am planning a tour myself this summer though Austria, from Passau to Wien, on the Danube. I absolutely loved the way you filmed your videos and I would be interested to do the same in my trip. Can you tell me what equipment you used for filming and editing? I saw you mention in a comment in one of your videos along the way that you used your tablet and a free app?? that sounds awesome, can you give me some details/hints on how to create such nice videos/memories? Sending you good thoughts from Romania! Valentin :)
Hi Valentin! Thanks again for your message:) Austria was definitely one of our favourite places. We loved Passau and Vienna but also the cycling was great quality and beautiful scenery! Great people too. I made a video of How to Edit a cycle tour, check it out as I also discuss all the equipment we used. Let me know if you have any questions! I hope you and everyone gets to cycle tour again soon it's just the best way to explore;)
Watched all the episodes all in one sitting and how fulfilling was it when you reach Istanbul, a city I visited multiple times when i lived in Ankara as a student some 20 years ago. How much you share your hobbies between you. That's amazing. Hope you all the best.
Wow thank you!!!!! Makes us so happy that people liked the videos and hopefully were inspired to do something similar. Be it a day trip or a long tour! So much fun and the happiest, simplest lifestyle.
Congrats on the journey, guys! I’m curious how it worked with locking up your bikes when you went to restaurants/hikes etc? Do you just hope no one steals the panniers/stuff on them?
Absolutely epic journey! Thanks for documenting it: I’ve loved binge watching the whole journey over the last few days. My wife is from Germany and your trip has (nearly) persuaded her to cycle from our home in Rutland to friends who live near Mainz. We have visited the Rhine gorge a few times and would love to cycle it. I don’t think we’ll go as far as Istanbul though.😳😂 Amazing... Mat and Haz, you two are incredible!
Good morning Adam and guten morgen to your wife! Thanks so much for the message, that put a smile on our faces this morning! I really hope you get to do that ride, it would be absolutely fantastic i am sure. The hardest part certainly the England bit.. so at least you know it will only get easier! With such great messages like this, it has made me want to edit together a full feature film, and with being put on furlough this month I have an excellent opportunity to get through all the footage, plus some unseen stuff from our 'trial' rides...! Thanks again and merry Xmas to you both 🎄🚴♂️🚴♀️
Thanks for these great videos, really enjoyed them. Did my first long tour this year, lands end to john o groats...because covid stopped travel further afield. As we are the wrong side of 60 we did B&Bs, but I love a bit of camping. How heavy were your loads? Just need to see if I could manage the xtra luggage !
Hi Clare! Thank you for watching!! I would still love to do LEJOG, maybe next spring if things are ok by then. We actually went pretty light, and between us we shared the camping equipment which meant we only needed rear panniers and front bar bags. Not sure the weight to be honest overall, but it wasnt much, we likened it to two heavy tesco bags on each arm for the panniers, then a shoulder bag weight for the br bag. on top of this, the two camping mats and sleeping bags were super light but of course take up extra space, popped into a drybag on top of the racks. no laptops or heavy equipment and only waterproof jacket , no trousers etc. went very light! In Harriet's blog there is a full kit list if interested, she would love it if you left a reply, she spent so much time on there! monteandkomodo.wordpress.com/gear/ Take care Clare and I hope you tour again soon! :) Adding more videos soon

Amazing journey guys, such an inspiration to get out there and just do what you want to do, The wife and i had planned to ride from copenhagen to st malo France and back to Guernsey where we live, in september 2020, but the covid 19 has put are plans on hold, fingers crossed its all cleared by then.

Mat Hall Hi Matt, Yes, I try to ride about 40K every other day for exercise. I live in Georgia (USA) but I'm also working a project in Ontario Canada. I have some day trips planned for exploring the Sauble Beach/Falls area and Owen Sound areas of Ontario during my next trip up there. I'm also planning a two day trip to cycle the Niagara River from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. I figure I can cycle from Niagara-on-the-Lake to Fort Erie on one day then cycle back to Niagara-on-the-Lake the following day and explore the Niagara Falls area along the way.
Wow that's a big ride!! Nice! I have a friend in Irie doing his doctor thing, I hope to visit in next few years. How did you find our bodies by the way? Always so intrigued!
Mat Hall I did a search for 'Eurovelo 15' and your video(s) came up in the search. My daughter is living in Dublin Ireland. To change things up a bit we have discussed meeting up in the Netherlands and doing some cycling. Since that area is flat it would be easier on my daughter and son-in-law Since they are not regular cyclists. I figured once I was over there it would be neat to do the Rhine River route too. Watching videos like yours help me plan and get a feel for what I can expect.

And next time you're in Switzerland, a couple of beers are on me (perhaps not Guiness ;-D) Enjoy your furlough leave, considering it is a time diamond! All the best!
Hey Mat!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it. We certainly loved this adventure. Hope to see much more of beautiful turkey in the future!
Inspirational. Loved each episode.
Wow thank you!!!!! Makes us so happy that people liked the videos and hopefully were inspired to do something similar. Be it a day trip or a long tour! So much fun and the happiest, simplest lifestyle.
It's pretty amazing to see you in İstanbul, coming from London, wow! Congrats!
It was an incredible adventure and amazing to experience together. And nowhere better to finish. We loved Istanbul!
What a great journey. I've really enjoyed following you. Have you done any more cycling trips since?
Thank you David! Yes just small mini adventures.. Most excitingly I will film our little 3 day cycle during our first week of honeymoon in April from London to Bath...we get married in April! Then we head off to south africa for the big honeymoon bit.. so exciting. You have any plans? Do you think it would be interesting to watch a video on our planning/review/bike review/kit/how we filmed etc??
Amazing journey guys, such an inspiration to get out there and just do what you want to do, The wife and i had planned to ride from copenhagen to st malo France and back to Guernsey where we live, in september 2020, but the covid 19 has put are plans on hold, fingers crossed its all cleared by then.
Hey Matt & Haz, I just finished watching the video series of your cycling adventure. It was very enjoyable to follow your trip. Your videos certainly deserve more views than you have gotten so far. Good stuff! Do you have another adventure planned?
Thank you so much!!! That's so cool that you watched them. I hope people can enjoy them and learn how to do a cycle trip around Europe too! I'm going to hopefully make a 15 minute or so movie of the whole thing. Watch this space on my channel! :)) Please share with anyone that may be interested :) Are you planning a trip?
Congrats guys! Loved your videos!! I'm hoping to cycle the danube river this summer, did you guys use the euro velo offline app map?? Or get real map?
Thanks so much! Re maps..We used Cicerone guide books and a mix of Google maps in the cities. Worked a treat!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Which bike bag did you use to ship the bike back to the UK? Was it a standard cardboard bag?
Just an old cardboard bike box and a lot of tape. Easy! Free on BA too
Guess the UK was the worse country to drive a bike...
Grts from Am*dam :)
I got chased by a pack of dogs in Crete. I out sprinted them….most power I ever produced…
