Y’all listen to him because I used to do it and I started correct myself by learning mix but I still was using those habits so today I discover how to keep my larynx down by touching my larynx and diaphragm to see if I’m pushing and I tried to sing up scale without letting my larynx go while being relax making sure I don’t feel larynx moving and tongue relax and I just discovered this today.

You should continue to do so, but you should still implement his techniques.

I love your videos and how well they're explained. And I love how you mentioned watching live songs...my biggest inspiration as a singer is Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens. I could watch him perform for hours. In my opinion, he's a great singer. I especially love one of their newest songs, One Many Army, and I wanna do a cover of it sometime. I was wondering if you could check it out and do a video on how to sing the bridge near the end of the song. That would be amazing and I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Thank you for watching - what would you say is your current biggest struggle you're facing with your voice?

Well I had surgery on my back when I was eight and my doctors said I had a small stroke. I already had a weak throat cuz I have a disease that weakens all my muscles very fast. But ever since the surgery, my throat has been extremely weak and I can't swallow with it. So basically hitting high notes is really hard. So is holding my voice out cuz my lunges are weak as well. I've been doing speech therapy for a long time but sometimes I don't feel like it's working. Here lately I've been doing a lot of breathing exercises to work my diaphragm and my lunges, and I'm seeing a little improvement. But I don't know what to do about my throat. And differentiating using my head voice and my chest voice. And that was probably the longest answer ever. Sorry about that. And thank you for making the video!

I'm very sorry to hear your struggles. My advice is to focus the most on strengthening and healing the BODY itself first. The weaknesses and problems you are having with your body will be your limiting factor for your voice above all. Focus on healing and strengthening your body. Check out Dr Robert Morse if you want something alternative to look into if you're feeling like you've tried everything.

Hi Nikita, sorry to hear about your struggles. I won't need to look at the vocal cords per say, I teach through my ear, I can hear if the sounds you're making are going to cause issues or not. Book a lesson with me and I can show you how to approach your voice that will not only let it heal but prevent the issues from happening again.

Hey Phil what does control mean when singing? And what does having a strong voice mean? Is it possible to have a strong voice but sound terrible?

    • @philmoufarrege
      @philmoufarrege  6 ปีที่แล้ว

To me having control means you are floating on each not rather than "surviving" your way through a song. Good control means you can fade in and out on the notes you are trying to sing in a song with freedom.
When I talk about having a strong voice, I mean the the body is set up in a way where you can lean in to your voice or apply good amounts of volume with good stability. Yes you can have a strong voice but "still sound terrible" but having a strong voice is a good starting place for you to then refine your vowels so that you can start to sound good.
Check out my video "how to sing properly" for more info on these things:

Hi Phil, I don't really get the part when you say release everything and the breath will automatically come in. How is it possible?

What I am saying is try not to force in too much air as in overbreathing. Just take in the amount you need, it shouldn't be a massive tank of air or it can cause the throat to lock up.

    Hi Phil,
Would "My true love" by Eurythmics or "Giving you the best that I got" by Anita Baker be good songs for this work you suggested in the video for a female?
    Thanks :)

Pretty much anything by Anita Baker would be a great place to start - Rhythm of Love is a great one.

Hi Phil, any tips or things to look for when searching for a quality vocal coach? I'm from Iowa and trying to find someone worth the money to help with proper technique and growth.

Hi Joey, the teacher not only has to know the proper sounds but also has to know how to get YOU TO DO THEM PROPERLY.
