I think Hao Asakura being Hao, Anna being a total badass female character that is actually useful, and Yoh being the chillest protagonist of all time will make people love Shaman King
Anna is actually one of the fewer shonnin female characters that actually do something and are top tier power level wise. Even if she got her power from Hao.
yeah, 100% agree with you on this one, Hao was indeed a wel written OP character, he had the charm, the power and the threat and still didnt ruin the overall story.
You know a villain is broken when he has such a big influence in the story and even if the growth of the main characters. The main cast got a huge power boost by reading Hao's book and training 1 day in Hell (when Hao himself trained for 500 years). Anna took control of the Shinigammi witch are Hao's demons to begin with. Every other strong character of the show is somehow related to Hao in some way.
You know a villain is broken when the main protagonist is just a part of himself 😂😂 witch Literally makes him both the main bad guy and good guy. Plus technically the only baby who named his self 😂😂
If someone out there is watching this video and hasn't finished SK's manga yet, totally don't read this because it's all endgame spoilers, yeehaw. Part of what makes SK great to me is that they're like damn, how do we beat Hao? Then they realize they can't... so they just love him instead. The fact that it works, that this guy who has been lonely for a thousand years and figured everyone would continue to hate him and try to kill him forever/until he became King, ended the series off with the cast realizing that fighting hatred with more hatred wasn't working and Hao accepting all the people who accepted him makes it amazing to me. That the whole main cast collectively agreed to try give him love instead of hate, and that Yoh actually had an impact on him and began to form a relationship with him that wasn't just enemies and "I have to beat him to become the Shaman King". Most Shonen series are all about the brawls and "who will win", and the main protaginst somehow becoming stronger than the antagonist, but in this case, even the characters are forced to acknowledge they can't physically defeat Hao. They realize that, with the way power levels work in this series, that there's no actual way to kill him because he'll just reincarnate again even stronger every time, and even without that being their hindsight understanding, they all are forced to acknowledged that just in his third lifetime alone that he's stronger than all of them anyway. Usually Shonen series just end with the main protagonist becoming more OP than the antagonist and just outright killing them. Shaman King makes it look like Yoh is going to win and be the strongest character, but not only is he not the strongest among his friends (he's outdone in furyoku level by both Horohoro and, by a long shot, Chocolove by the end of the series), he never gains power anywhere near as insane as Hao. Eventually Yoh realizes the root of the whole problem by getting to know his supposed enemy, goes against what his entire family wishes of him to do (which is to kill Hao), and gets on pretty decent terms with him all things considered. There's no rivalry between them at all and they're both pretty cordial with each other. For me at least, the icing on all of it is that Yoh ends the series off by admitting he has similar feelings to Hao and, instead of acting spiteful for having lost the tournament, goes in the complete opposite direction of a typical Shonen and fully acknowledges Hao as his brother. There's no "hey cool what an awesome power up to defeat the villain!" moment like the OG anime decided to do (incorrectly no less, since the ending of the OG anime had nothing at all to do with furyoku and just did an outright total asspull to deal with Hao that had nothing to do with Shaman King whatsoever lol). They try to understand him instead, and it REALLY makes Yoh's mantra of "people who can see spirits can't be evil" come full circle. To Yoh, Hao was never evil. He did evil things, but Hao himself was never evil from Yoh's perspective. Making the OP antagonist you can basically possibly make, admitting they can't be defeated and never using some crazy asspull move to /make/ them get defeated makes SK shine for me, but just as much if not more than that, it's that this supposed evil person actually fell victim to nothing short of love. It wasn't just the characters' decision to love him that solved things - it was the fact that Hao /never expected it/ and also /wanted/ it. They mention those characters couldn't have been in the Great Spirit if Hao didn't want them there. He also could have just went on with his plan to wipe out normal humans since nobody could have stopped him anymore by the end, but he dropped his plan of a thousand years and decided to see what the world could look like with these shamans who all chose to accept him as their King. Let's be honest too, Chocolove wasn't much better IF any better than Hao at one point in his life, and he was able to be turned around and saved. I LOVE that they didn't abandon that idea with Hao, instead leveling him without physical power or brute force. Shaman King as a whole was also going in that direction with Hao the entire time, right from Yoh mentioning the thing about evil people and spirits in the first chapter/episode, all the way to the very end. All of it was sprinkled in and hidden well imo. Good luck ever convincing me there's any better handling of any antagonist ever out there! 😂
maybe yoh actually had an impact on him bc hes his younger brother? anyways, poor hao grew up without love, got love for a while but the core of it was gone. the way hao used to be treated as a child is like society treating "ugly" people. they call them names, and basically break theyre mind and eventually leading to suicide. The manga portrays that society is cruel, and not everyone is bad, its just the way they grew up.
Loved your analysis. Will save this video because it was great, and also because of your comment. I feel like it will come in handy in the future when I'm trying to explain why Shaman King is so great. Even if sometimes seems a bit goofy with all the reveals that happen (Angels being cars, Chocolove acquiring Olmec spirits, Mikihisa dying because of a car accident, etc.) it's still a story so well built that it hurts that it remained as a cult series even with the 2021 remake.
It probably would've been worth mentioning how the other main characters have gone through similar circumstances to Hao. Like Anna with her mind reading, and even in the first chapter, though less consequential, how Yoh's hesitant to let people know he can talk to ghosts for fear of being "othered" as well as Yoh's Zero Story, in the beginning Ren is basically mini-Hao in his motivation just a loner version. Although they're not near as powerful a lot of them could've gone the same train of thought Hao did so it makes sense why Yoh dealt with him the way he did.
Thank you so much for making this video! For a fan of Hao who already knows all this it was really fun to watch! I was laughing through the whole video, haha. Hao is truly the best villain of all time! And special thanks for explaining Hao correctly! Because I often see that many people in the fandom tend to believe that Hao's only problem is his mother's death in his first life. This opinion always confuses me every time I see it because it is so far from the truth. His mother's death is sure tragic, but if it were his only problem he would never become who he is. In fact, the whole Mappa Douji special was mostly about Ohachiyo convincing little Hao that he is a human, while Hao believed himself to be a demon. Not only Hao was ostracized but also gaslighted to the degree of actually believing himself to be a demon. Being ostracized, which led him to gain the mind-reading ability, and then repeatedly seeing all the bad sides of humanity through this ability is definitely the main reason behind his behavior. His mother's death was why he was traumatized and left completely alone with those problems (since his mother was the only person who treated him nicely at that time), but definitely wasn't the main reason why he lost all belief in humanity. Besides, let's not forget that even after losing his mind reading ability (which, by the way, happened earlier than his reunion with his mother, which proves his distrust towards humans was caused not by her death, but by ostracization) Hao still didn't change his opinion about humanity. So, I believe the main reason is actually the one told in the Osorezan arc - that he saw all the bad sides of humanity through his mind reading. And in the end, he stands by this opinion he formed through mind reading even after starting to trust others a little more.
Happy the video could bring you some joy :) You bring up a good point about what happens with Hao and his mind reading ability! I agree with you that Hao's views on humanity were caused by more than just what happened with his mom.

It’s the same with Anna. Finally not a softie inlove with Yoh. Sorry Tamao. But finally a serious Fiancé. Even Anna cares about Yoh winning the tournament more than Yoh. And she’s not scared. She could probably win against Hao Because of his pride. But that’s when he’s not full power. She’s not scared of slapping Hao with her legendary left hand 😱. And when Yoh quits the shaman fight, oh Yoh was dead. And the other characters are also unique. This anime is so underrated I’m mad 😡
Yoh isn't on the same level as Hao, even by the end. I would say that the gap between them became infinite. The only thing that saved Five Warriors from being annihilated by King is his heart. He didn't really want to destroy them, so, he couldn't. Great Spirits follow the real wish of it's holder. So, if Hao did really want to annihilate Five Warriors, he would be able to do it.

HAha "doesn't lose his edge" -- see, I actually would say this IS the whole point of Shaman King. Hao losing his edge, Hao succumbs to his wavering heart, as a result of Yoh - Yoh brought everything Hao was missing into his life - and thus, its very much Hao lost his edge by the end of Shaman King. It was the only way to beat Hao.
Shaman King was popular in Poland (Król Szamanów as it was known here) to a big degree. What I loved about Hao/Zeke was the fact he had great voice actor - i think to this day his role as Zeke Asakura was the only thing he ever voiced act which is remarkable. He was so distinctive.
Yeah, are you talking about the 4kids english dub of Shaman King? I believe the voice actors name is Sebastian Arcelus and he was incredibly charismatic with his smooth yet venomous vocal range. One of the few dubs that was actually fire, in spite of the huge censorship.
Hao is charismatic because he was right. By the spiritual laws, like being the caretakers of nature or the world and our brothers and sisters? By those standards that would make Hao "good" incarnate no matter how much we may see someone that capable and his intentions as a literal devil that would only be from modern man's worldview that he would be in the wrong. Even his own nature as empath would suggest for him to be evil would be a reflection of a world that poisoned his very soul.

I liked them! The thing I'm most worried about for the future is the pacing since it's confirmed the anime has 52 episodes. I think information from the manga is handled well but I would like for the fights to be animated better in the future.
Debatable I believe if before becoming shaman king. When he became shaman king I think he looked at "someone" and they died lol. The Great Spirit is a universal power, if you wanna put it into the DBZ universe term, he's basically almost like Xeno at that point.

People say Dio is the best anime villain. After reading the manga I want the see how many people change their minds and say the same thing about Hao.
We gotta get Hao trending once he appears in the anime
Banger after banger
The people deserve it
Zeke aka Hao my favorite shaman king
Hao was the beginning of me liking a certain type of villain 🤭✨
Shaman King was popular in Poland (Król Szamanów as it was known here) to a big degree. What I loved about Hao/Zeke was the fact he had great voice actor - i think to this day his role as Zeke Asakura was the only thing he ever voiced act which is remarkable. He was so distinctive.
Yeah, are you talking about the 4kids english dub of Shaman King? I believe the voice actors name is Sebastian Arcelus and he was incredibly charismatic with his smooth yet venomous vocal range. One of the few dubs that was actually fire, in spite of the huge censorship.
Bro how are you not famous man your video are goods.
Thank you sir
Hao is your type of Villain and Second lead at the same time
Another excellent video. Brb, gonna go watch Shaman King
Thank you once again Azure, I also checked out Hachigatsu Kokonoka Boku wa Kimi ni Kuwareru when you suggested it and got creeped out lol
Dang I didn’t know Hao was this evil and powerful
Tbh he’s the best one
Best villain hao
His design just screams madara to me. AND I LOVE IT.
In my travels around the multianimeverse I came across one phrase of ultimate wisdom:
How? He's Hao
Great video
Thank ya :)
This Nigga hella underrated no cap
Facts! I hope more people talk about him after he shows up in the anime
Hao is an absolute unit. Hope they stick with the manga plot this time.
Thank you for this. Video
Thank you for watching
Hao vs omni man who would win
On problem
I like the video, interesting way to make a villain
Thank you Falcon :)
Subbed before that Mil
Hao is charismatic because he was right.
By the spiritual laws, like being the caretakers of nature or the world and our brothers and sisters? By those standards that would make Hao "good" incarnate no matter how much we may see someone that capable and his intentions as a literal devil that would only be from modern man's worldview that he would be in the wrong.
Even his own nature as empath would suggest for him to be evil would be a reflection of a world that poisoned his very soul.
Shinsuke Takasugi Is One Those Too Thats Not Talked Much Sadly. Hes Basically Shounen Best Mc In Opinion Gintoki Hes Basically Him But Different And If He Didnt Chilled In His Life. Nice Vid.
I've been suggested Gintama so many times but those 350+ episodes are intimidating :c
Thank you for showing so much love on my videos! It means a lot my guy!!
@@Guaz If u do Dont expect seriousness at the start but its comedy idk if u will like it cause people has different liking on comedys but the comedys are very important in my opinion and how The author makes u love and laugh with these character!
Also Suggest Starting At ep 3 S1 is very 90s but S2 is an improvement Hope u like it!
i kid you not as a child i got nightmares because of Hao. He is a good villain!
Imagine how he made his enemies feel then SHEESH
They underestimated the power mind and will bro
THE SHAMAN KING
Thank ypu
HEAT

🐐
Aw shucks 😳
How to make a Overpowered character done right.
Nice
Aye nice to see you Tony !
@@Guaz same always with the good content
@@Guaz a good anime/ manga recommendation blood blockade battlefront, hells paradise, and tokyo revengers
@@xblade149 kekkai sensen is fire, and I've been reading Tokyo Revengers and loving it! I still need to check out Hell's Paradise in the future though
was this video inspired by rash plays
Can you state your opinion on the new adaptation?
I want to know if I'm the only one who's thinking this anime doesn't live up to it's full potential.
You're not the only thinking this, the new series is a let down for me also. At least we'll always have the manga though.
Could Alucard level with hao let what you guys think
Hey man awesome video, just so you don't get the whiney people in here you might want to add the spoiler tag in to the title, because the Anime has just started people who have never seen Shaman King before might start getting toxic.
But keep up the good work
Aye nice to see you on another video! Thank you for your remarks. And I don't mind if people whine
Hao can beat everyone villain in he' loves him self he is what he think of himself
I'm reading this
Good choice!
Hao is in my opinion Shaman King's equivalent to Teach from One Piece.
Whose the bigger villain out of Guaz or Hao ?? 🤔
Depends on how much jollof is left in the fridge
Yo Guaz, what did you think of the first 2 episodes of the remake if you've seen them yet?
I liked them! The thing I'm most worried about for the future is the pacing since it's confirmed the anime has 52 episodes. I think information from the manga is handled well but I would like for the fights to be animated better in the future.
@@Guaz I personally believe they going to try to get flowers on. So I predict if it does good they will put flowers in production
yessir hes nasty i been tryna tell my friends hes nasty
Best character is hao
Being your sef
I feeling this until he brought up 6
How petty
I wake
At a good time too
People will understand hao in.time bro I have some very deep truth of my own on hao bro
GUAZ LESSS GOOOOO
Can he beat goku tho?
How hungry is Goku?
strength alone doesn't make a good villain
Debatable I believe if before becoming shaman king. When he became shaman king I think he looked at "someone" and they died lol. The Great Spirit is a universal power, if you wanna put it into the DBZ universe term, he's basically almost like Xeno at that point.
the only villain to win lmfaooo
Wrong! you defeat him by bringing his mom back to life lol
bro u look like Ruud Gullit
But you probably don't like Aizen.
How the fuck haven't I heard of you until now
Aye at least you're here now :)
@@Guaz and I'm glad I did ( no offense but I noticed most anime TH-camrs stopped talking about the characters in the shows mainly either doing memes or reviews which I like but shot like this on the character themselves is what I want to see and your clearly providing so get used to see my name in comments)
How do you defeat someone like Hao? You don't. He wins in the end and becomes God.
Shaman king has a reboot Netflix
balls
Hao can beat everyone
