    We’re grateful for everyone who supports us and gains access to our ever-growing All-in-One Bundle 👉 geni.us/ftus5!
    A possible solution, starting at minute 17:45, to create a DMS is by creating a new file with 3 channels: import the MS raw into channels 1 and 2, erase the SIDE channel from the MS Raw Rear, and include the rear channel into track 3. Now we have Mid, Side, Rear.

    What I recommend trying is using external PIP microphones like Lom Mikrousi with the H2e. Record to external microphones + "Front" from the H2e. Then try the "MIX" result. It sounds pretty amazing. As I mentioned in your community post, I bought H2e two weeks back, out of curiosity and also I wanted one, small 32bit recorder for mikrusi as a backup droprig. After experimenting with this little guy, I'm quite surprised how good it is for that price

    As always, it was a great pleasure to watch this video.
    When you can start a surround recording within 30 seconds and have to get the gear out of the backpack beforehand, that's just great.
    The H2 Essential is absolutely an “on the go” device that makes pretty good recordings, it is very easy to use and fits in almost any pocket.
    What I find particularly great is that you can make 5.0 surround recordings with it, as is also shown at 17:45. (keyword: double MS) - Big THANK YOU for figuring that out!
    The “Schoeps Plug In” featured in the video is even available for FREE and it works very well and produces really great results. I use it always, if I need to render a double MS recording to a 5.1 surround ambience. Very convenient, reliable and quite powerful.
    And if you mix the front and rear cardioids together to a mono sum and apply an LPF to it, you even get a quite usable LFE signal, which you then have to raise the volume a bit, but ... better than nothing. To say it clearly, this won't make a blockbuster, but a very nice ambience recording!!!
    I particularly liked the part with the Roland CS-10EM. How did you do the noise reduction?

      Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful comment! For noise reduction, I exclusively use Bertom Denoiser. There’s a free, pay-what-you-want version available, as well as a pro version. It’s incredibly simple, straightforward, and gets the job done. :)

    I’ve had H2n and enjoyed for many years especially the spatial audio recording.
    Wondering if you think the H2e has lower noise, especially on the line in and ‘better’ spatial/surround capturing of sound? A comparison between the 2 H2n v H2e would be amazing, as I haven’t seen any online.

      @@captteemo9133 Thank you so much for your kind words! In the audio industry, particularly in field recording, sponsorship opportunities for content creators are quite rare. Companies in this niche understand that the audience for this gear is relatively small, and those who are interested in it will likely purchase it regardless of marketing efforts. That’s why they often choose not to invest in such sponsorships.
      That said, we’re incredibly fortunate and grateful that TH-cam isn’t our primary source of income. Instead, we’re supported by amazing people who purchase our sound libraries. Recording itself is just part of whole sound collecting event. After work with adjusting records are nice work for long evenings. Also planning for record is quite big part of recording sounds. Usually for people sounds are just bypass phenomena - for our sound enthusiasts it’s much more.

    • @FreeToUseSounds
      @FreeToUseSounds  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you so much for your support! It’s true-there are times when we plan trips to specific locations, only to find that we can’t film or record as intended. Sometimes the place is closed, or the environment isn’t ideal, like when people are playing music or shows on their phones, which forces us to pack up and move on.
      We would absolutely love to include more market sounds in our recordings, but with the way things are these days, it’s becoming increasingly difficult. Still, we remain hopeful and always keep an eye out for opportunities to record these unique sounds.
      Thank you again for being part of our journey-it means so much to us! By the way, next year we're back in Europe and plan a trip to Finland as well!

Using the BTA-1 bluetooth adapter to start and stop recording I don't need access to the buttons on top of the H2e. @FreeToUseSounds  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Simon! Hmm, I just re-listened, and the only rumble I hear is the traffic in the background, but there’s nothing on the capsules. Also, always remember, since you have a TH-cam channel and upload sounds to MA, if you’ve registered as a small business, that’s a tax write-off. No gamble! :)

    The Zoom H2e looks like a great recorder to have ready for action in a small Tenba Skyline pouch.
    I like the simplicity and flexibility of MS (and DMS) recording. I started using a Shure VP88 years ago. At present l use the Shure MV88 if I record using my smartphone. I think I have a few use cases for the H2e.
    I prefer to compare the H2e with a MV88 rather than the Schoeps DMS kit. However, if you can make a video comparing your Scoeps DMS with a Sennheiser DMS (using 8040 and 8030) it would be great.

    • @FreeToUseSounds

      Ohh I would need the new Sennheiser Figure 8. We do have the MKH 8040 but paying for another blimp is a stretch.

    • @digme
      @digme หลายเดือนก่อน

      It would be great to have an update to your "Battle of the professional microphones" comparing Schoeps and Sennheiser, both in DMS configuration (and testing how the Schoeps DMS plug-in performs with the Sennheiser mics).
      Rycote makes a DMS suspension with a MZL connbox for the Cyclone, so I guess you would be able to reduce the blimp cost (or be able to borrow that part of the blimp in order to compare).
      Recording plain old MS I like the idea of being able to alternate between using 8040/8030 and 8090/8030.
      Anyway, the Zoom H2e did remind me of my first experience doing field recording many years ago, using a Shure VP88 and a Nagra recorder.

    • @FreeToUseSounds
      @FreeToUseSounds  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh, these aren’t impossible questions to answer at all. 😊
      If you have the room to carry it, the AT 8022 is a fantastic choice because it has its own power supply, and you can even use it with the LINE In. The H2 Essential is excellent if you’re interested in MS recordings, while the Tascam is a reliable all-rounder.
      That said, if you know you’d like to use the microphone with a camera, I’d suggest going with the AT 8022. However, if you also want to record wild tracks, having an external recorder like the X6 is a great option.
      Personally, I think I’d lean toward the X6, but it really depends on how you plan to use it.

      You're very decent to take the time to answer my question. I'm leaning towards the X6.
