Excellent ! When I fenced in my one-acre property, I asked my fence guys to make a couple of feet around the inside and outside to keep animals from digging in and out, and they'd never heard of such a thing (15 years ago), even though fencing was their business. So I didn't get it for my yard. But when I built a rolling kennel for a crippled duck I rescued, I made my own predator guard. When I first saw a video from you, and the predator guard was shown, I knew you were a very thoughtful man and have followed you ever since. I hope to have you build me a couple of large coops in the future, and I'm in NC, too.
Great idea. I tried something similar and the rodents in my area (rats only no other predators) would find the edge and tunnel in. I dug a 18 inch deep trench and buried the rat wire vertically and my rodent issue ended
Another super video- as always. Coop is beautiful and well built. Where might you purchase the heavy duty garden staples? Also what is the rope you use to wrap the roost bars? You Rock, Matt! Had to edit these comments-looked at your accessories on the website -found the answers to my questions. Good Job-you think of everything. Smiles from Wyoming!
Consruction cloth is what you want it has 1/4 inch squares, Corn cob fence does not stop rats or moles etc. had all our hens heads bitten off using Corn cob
Would you put the cloth above or under the apron? Edit: I looked it up, it’s also wire lol. I thought it was actual cloth material, so I’m guessing you wouldn’t need both. 😊
@CarolinaCoopsVideos With debilitating knee issues, it's the pressure on the knees, and fractured knee caps from many falls, that prevent the crawling. Knee pads would add comfort to knees if crawling was an option. When my meniscus went out, I couldn't crawl, or get up and down. It took 4 years to heal to walk a short few steps unassisted, yet the balance and knee issues remain. If you can't relate, thank the Lord every day that you haven't been afflicted in such a way ! ❤️
A piece of personal advice: And many people in construction trades will tell you this, get and wear knee protectors. It may save you from having knee replacement surgery in your 60's. I know your goals include doing everything you can for your customers. But do this for yourself. 😊
A chicken door putter also protects chicken from attacking by predators .Predators cannt open up because the door is locked as a putter .But the rope chicken door cannt work.

Knee problems aside, I do love this coop he is working on. Wish I could afford one and fill it full of feathered babies. 😁
Looks great! But my knees would be killing me and filing for a divorce if I crawled around like that, especially on top of the wire. LMAO!
Thats funny! You could get some knee pads?
