@@MarkZabel you should make a new video about this(and give my name credit also 😉) Now The process, :- 1. Download Microphone Pro App:- 2. Hey Bob! Thanks for the comment. Yes, the Vox Amplug is a great travel amp. I did another video on travel amps and I mentioned that it (the Vox Amplug) is the device I use when traveling by plane. By car I usually use the Blackstar Fly 3. But, as you mention, if you're a DIY guy or a pedal guy, this is a fun thing to do. Another great way to do this is to simply use a headphone amp and auxiliary cable to the speaker. Search Vox headphone amplifiers on Amazon & pick the one that best suits your style. This works surprisingly well if you have a decent quality speaker. This way you only have one cable to deal with, and no latency (at least not that I can tell).
Yes. This video is really for either DIY guys, Pedal guys, and people getting acclimated to what's surely coming - live emulation with virtual amps. Sound is barely audible and VERY distorted. Any ideas on a fix? Sound card is a Kotion each 2.0 otherwise everything is the components from the description.
Hmm. If the sound is badly distorted it could be the speaker you're using. If it's more "noisy" than "distorted" you can get much better results by using a different interface. (Behringer vs. Cheap Soundcard) th-cam.com/video/UeRpSO0Bd-4/w-d-xo.html
I don't think so. The deplike+android phone takes the sound from the guitar, do the distortion/effects in the app, and then outputs the sound to the speaker. The phone is essential.
Ok.. I can help with maestro.. I am new to notate. I am just starting Band in the box. Working on some Bebop licks which I find very challenging. Charlie Parker's Donna Lee is time consuming on both guitar and Piano.
The only problem with this on a plane is that if the check your bags and see this contraption you will probably be arrested thinking you are a bomb maker.
Ha ha..I was thinking along those lines.. but judge I was just making a a hack that I saw on you tube.. the guy said to put four wires together..the alarm clock and relay we're my idea., so Id get up in time to practice my guitar. I guess the bands going to miss me for awhile.
Really useful video Mark. How is the latency with this rig ? A similar setup on my quad-core 3.0GHz PC with 4GB RAM, with AmpliTube or GuitarRig, is unacceptably high.
Funny you should mention that. I have a video coming soon about options for travel amps and the Blackstar Fly 3 is one of the two options I most recommend. This is a little more complex, but also more flexible and versatile. It's also a bit more portable. I can fit my phone on a plane easily along with my headphones. Still, love the Blackstar Fly.
I just read the last part..My guess is that a drum track could be imported in to the files.. Even if it was not native to BITB.. Maestro is worth looking into. I'll probably play around with it today. I use a phone version but there may be a computer version.
I would add the sound card as a prerequisite to the list of things you need along with guitar and android. "...all you need is your guitar and and android device. We are gonna build the rest."
I can change the stereo ? home stereo not portable speaker ? thank you sir for the answer its for our bond ministry thank you sir I hope you see my question.
LOL! Hey, I did an update in this using a guitar link rather than a cheap sound card. Huge difference in the noise, so you might want to check it out. Thanks for watching!
Very cool my friend, is it possible to use the phone speaker instead of a portable speaker? I know the sound will probably suck, but just by curiosity....
I was thinking of using the phone as the mic. it want be very loud and the quality might not be great.. alternately .. I have a ancient Dictaphone mic that I can experiment with the wiring. I do know that the Android phone is capable of being an input.
Yes, I have been able to do so. BTW, I have found HUGE differences using a better audio interface instead of the cheap sound card. Here's the video with updated links: th-cam.com/video/UeRpSO0Bd-4/w-d-xo.html
Mark Hi!!! can you play and generarte a mp3 track on the android phone, Whit this adapter? You know the irig ti Apple. Excuse mi English, un italiano and live un Argentina. Please y need this amp adapter!!
No, not with this setup. You'd need an interface that has a bluetooth output. (Or buy an adapter that converts the signal). There's probably a sound card that would work ... one that has a bluetooth output instead of a headphone output.
The sound card has two 3.5" jacks - that's what you need them for. The phone should NOT get a 3.5" jack. You connect to the phone via a USB-OTG cable that goes into the charge port. It's very clear in the video.
Hi. I am starting to learn guitar. Is there a way perhaps using this method to connect my headphones to practice silently as i practice during night time. If so how do i go about about it as in where do i connect in the headphone and in which slot. Thanks.
Yes. Just go directly to headphones instead of the speaker. If you have 3.5 mm headphones (like earbuds for a phone) it will just work. If you have a 1/4" input for your headphones you'll need a 3.5mm to 1/4" adapter. Good luck!
Have you tried just playing it through your phone speaker. One of the Irig units I seen with an apple phone let you play right out of your phone speaker.
Mark Zabel I did try an irig 2 with my android and it worked but i was hoping to play through my phone speakers. The android version is expensive so I will be trying something similar to what you have done. Thanks for the video.
Play video Mark Sanchez I was under the assumption though that you could use to play with just an OTG cord from your guitar without all the other stuff and I guess it wasn't you then be able to run a speaker out your headphone jack if I'm wrong on this someone please correct me and if there are any typos please forgive me I'm legally blind as usual the beginning got all messed up great video mark thank you
Hi Robert. I'm sure you can buy a guitar link that would eliminate the sound card and probably one of the adapters. But I think you would still need a USB/OTG chord to give the phone a USB input. And you would still need the chords to hook up the external speaker. So it might help a little I suppose. Thanks for watching!
indeed portable and inexpensive thank you Mark. I guess hype speaker is available online? am a Fillipino of Mindanao where our President resides. By the way that speaker is an AC-DC power?
Hi Ray. Thanks for watching. That speaker is no longer made. However, the Oontz is pretty good and they're usually cheaper and last longer on a charge. Here's a link ... you may need a different one, but this should get you started. amzn.to/39H5ppT.
great video very useful...one question sir..will u recommend a soundcard or a audio splitter..like 2 aux out which connect to the headphone jack of mobile phone
Hi Mark. Great setup. Thanks for sharing :-) Do you have any experience with recording what you play, with this setup ? As far as I can see, Deplike cannot record.
Found the video. I uninstalled the Maestro and installed it. Scrolled down..I am using a small phone. The video cam on from you tube. I think it is unlisted.. Anyways this is the most fantastic app I've seen.. I rated it before very high .. but It is a 9.5 or more. Sounds are realistic. I will master this app. Also they are good about improving the app. I suggested essentially layering notes inside triplets ..I did not use the word layering but it's the same. I was hoping they had done it and they did. Oh it's free of charge on playstore. I assume the same on on IOS. I am planning to use this as both bluetooth and click track in certain situations.
Wonderful! Thanks Mark. I have a small powered Sony Bluetooth speaker. Do you know if the Bluetooth output on my most android phones will work just as well as the wired speaker?
Unfortunately, the phone's bluetooth doesn't work directly while using the sound card. You would need to buy either a soundcard that transmits bluetooth or buy a bluetooth transmitter to plug into the soundcard. The transmitter costs an additional $25 or so. Of course, you could plug in your bluetooth speaker and not use the bluetooth capability of it. As long as your speaker has a 3.5mm input jack you're set. Not perfect, but it works.
Have you looked into Irealpro.. I just did Fly to the moon using a Strat copy and a karaoke machine for an amp. It sound pretty good to have not been done in a studio. mMy wife was about to throw out a bunch of DVDs and CDs... I kept about half.. One was band in the box. That will get loaded tomorrow first thing. I used it years ago but I've forgot how to use It. you didn't happen to to do a video on it did You?
I have iRealPro. I use that for practicing jazz mostly. I also have BIAB, but I'm not adept at it. There are decent tutorials out there, but it's probably best to pay for an online class. The issue with BIAB is that the RealTracks and RealDrums cost REAL MONEY. I ain't cheap if you want anywhere near the full capability of it.
Sadly, it does not. (I couldn't get it to work in any case) For that to work you will need a guitar interface instead of the typical sound card. The only interface I'm fairly sure will work is the iRig UA. This is built for Android devices to use the USB/OTG method. The original iRig and similar devices used the headphone jack. That works well with Apple products, but it's horrible with Android if it works at all. (Except I've heard that Samsung products work okay in this regard.) I tried it and the latency was so bad I gave up. Deplike is the only software I know that (more or less) fully supports USB.
Hi Rob. I couldn't get Deplike to work through the headphone jack / mic input. It's probably possible, but I'm not sure. I *did* get another app to work through the headphones, but the latency was horrible! The USB/OTG fixed that for me, so that's why I'm recommending it.
Yes to both questions! Having said that, I have found the Behringer Guitar Link to be a *HUGE* improvement over the cheap soundcard. It costs a bit, but works much better. Here's a demo/comparison video for you. th-cam.com/video/UeRpSO0Bd-4/w-d-xo.html
@@MarkZabel so sir its normal to have slight late sound on digital hmmmm? Its normal? But it have a way to make the tense of the second late sound will cure?
@@halopotter7767 Hi Luis. It's not just normal - it's *guaranteed* to have some latency. I don't know how much you have. I responded fully in another thread. It takes real effort to move it below, say 8 to 10 ms. With Google you can find ways to measure your latency and then you'll know if it's okay or needs improvement. As I said in the other thread, I have found the main issue is when people use the phone jack for the audio interface instead of USB. So if you're doing that (whatever interface you use), change it to USB.
My main concern with using computers like an Android as your amp is the latency. Last time I tried this on Windows it was a good 50ms of lag, it was like a Speechjammer, it made playing fast riffs impossible. Now I can't see your hands in this video while you're playing, but you say the latency is okay?
Actually, I was using it in the intro to the video, so you can see my hands there. The latency is okay; 5-10 ms, not 50 ms. With really fast riffs you'll notice you're ahead of the sound, but just a little. The biggest issue I had was with the noise on the sound card. Super-noisy. (Here's an improvement:th-cam.com/video/UeRpSO0Bd-4/w-d-xo.html) Good luck!
I'm wondering if you could use the Bluetooth connection from the phone to a Bluetooth speaker. That way the only cable would be from the guitar to the interface. Regardless I really enjoyed your playing. Thanks.
Thanks. This is an older video, so perhaps it's possible today. The issue was (and maybe is) the latency the bluetooth device(s) adds is not acceptable.
Thanks for the reply Mark. I know it's an older video but I think the idea is really good. I'm going to try it with Bluetooth I'll let you know how it works.
marco andrias merila Hi. Try a couple if simple things first. 1) Try switching the outputs from your soundcard. 2) Try testing your soundcard ... plug into another device and directly into the speaker. If those don't work, it may be one of the other components, like the cables. Finally, it's possible your phone isn't supported by Deplike.

I use the Behringer Guitar Link now, but there are knock-offs that are cheaper too. Here's a video where I compare the two interfaces. (Behringer vs. Cheap Soundcard) th-cam.com/video/UeRpSO0Bd-4/w-d-xo.html
What do folks do to charge their phones while using this setup? Would you maybe use a wireless charging pad simultaneously?
Great question. I didn't ever do it. But for a long night you'd probably want to recharge the phone.
If i use a powerbank just as a source of power supply to the usb will it be functional ? As an amp
Ha ha! You're starting with an easy tune, eh? Donna Lee is most challenging!
Good job. I can even hear some of that 335 mojo!
Thanks!
thats really neat Mark, thanks!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
The only problem with this on a plane is that if the check your bags and see this contraption you will probably be arrested thinking you are a bomb maker.
Hmm. Didn't think of that. The sound card looks a little funny. The rest of the stuff is pretty standard though.
BUD XVIII Hahahaha yeah kinda looks like a c4 hahaha
Ha ha..I was thinking along those lines.. but judge I was just making a a hack that I saw on you tube.. the guy said to put four wires together..the alarm clock and relay we're my idea., so Id get up in time to practice my guitar. I guess the bands going to miss me for awhile.
It really works 😮
Can you pls tell me how you made it work
And how is the latency
Cool!! I would have never even thought about doing this.
Thanks for watching!
Sweeeeet, agent 007, ooops, I mean Mark ;-) .... thanks for that. i also liked the jazzy chords near the end
Thanks agent David!
Really useful video Mark. How is the latency with this rig ? A similar setup on my quad-core 3.0GHz PC with 4GB RAM, with AmpliTube or GuitarRig, is unacceptably high.
It's pretty good. There's a tiny amount of latency. I'm not convinced I will gig with it, but in the hotel room ... it's fine.
That speaker thingy beside your phone, it's not very necessary, right?
I'm going to hook it up to my van and use the speakers there.
Cool!
Great idea for a slim, portable rig, thanks!
You bet. Thanks for watching!
Interesting but for portability and a great sound why not just get a blackstar fly 3. Thanks
We are gonna build the rest."
ace88205 I included the sound card in the build. It's in the list of items you'll need.
I can change the stereo ? home stereo not portable speaker ? thank you sir for the answer its for our bond ministry thank you sir I hope you see my question.
It probably will work, but there's no guarantee. Give it a try!
Thank you great helpful vid. Not sure the last time I got to play my guitar on a plane but hey... Rockstar life for us!
I'm not sure how to do it, but it probably is doable. I tried the obvious things, but they didn't work for me.
Link for the sound card is not working please çan write the name of that sound card you showed in video
Try this link. The old product is discontinued. amzn.to/2VKXUY9
@@MarkZabel thanks🙏
It's crazy I found all that stuff in my shelves, but I don't have a guitar 😅
Can i use headphones with this? Instead of plugging in a aux cable to sound card, can i just plug in headphones?
Yes you can!
I was thinking of using the phone as the mic. it want be very loud and the quality might not be great.. alternately .. I have a ancient Dictaphone mic that I can experiment with the wiring. I do know that the Android phone is capable of being an input.
I guess I'm not understanding your question then. Sorry.
Can we try this for semi acoustic guitar?
Yes, as long as you've got a pickup it will work.
Please suggest a sound card that would work with the suggested application . The one that you have given in description are out of stock now.

Hey Mark, yo this amazing!!! What app are you using on the phone Amplitube?
No, it's called "Deplike." Check the link in the description for details.
Can you also play mp3's on your phone simultaneously?
Yes, I have been able to do so. BTW, I have found HUGE differences using a better audio interface instead of the cheap sound card. Here's the video with updated links: th-cam.com/video/UeRpSO0Bd-4/w-d-xo.html
Mark Hi!!! can you play and generarte a mp3 track on the android phone, Whit this adapter? You know the irig ti Apple.
Excuse mi English, un italiano and live un Argentina. Please y need this amp adapter!!
Can i use 3.5mm male to 6.3mm female converter then plug it directly on sound card so that i could just use my normal guitar cords?
I believe that would work. Give it a shot!
Hey mark is't possible to work if the speaker connect as a bluetooth instead of hooking it with 3.5mm jack
No, not with this setup. You'd need an interface that has a bluetooth output. (Or buy an adapter that converts the signal). There's probably a sound card that would work ... one that has a bluetooth output instead of a headphone output.
The speaker you have there is active. Why not plug your guitar into it without the sound card and spare your phone battery?
I you want it totally clean that works.
@@MarkZabel I get it. You've used the soundcard as an overdrive, with the phone as its power supply. Clever.
You use two 3.5 jack?one for gutar one for ur phone?
The sound card has two 3.5" jacks - that's what you need them for. The phone should NOT get a 3.5" jack. You connect to the phone via a USB-OTG cable that goes into the charge port. It's very clear in the video.
Amazing vid. Thanks mate!!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
@@MarkZabel hey man you don't even need a Sound Card or OTG adapter for it. Ask me why , or you yourself guess the idea..
@@truearmy1953 No thanks. You can describe it exactly if you wish.
Good luck!
@@MarkZabel Big Thanks
Thank you!! This is awesome!
Glad you like it!
what's the using guitar effects app..
Which guitar apps are being used?
Deplike. That's the only app.
Just the way MacGyver did it!
LOL!
Have you tried just playing it through your phone speaker. One of the Irig units I seen with an apple phone let you play right out of your phone speaker.
Never tried it. Yes, with iPhones you have more options, including iRig. Most Android's don't have that capability.
Mark Zabel I did try an irig 2 with my android and it worked but i was hoping to play through my phone speakers. The android version is expensive so I will be trying something similar to what you have done. Thanks for the video.
If i hook this with my 5.1 surrounding speaker will it sound better than the conventional amplifier??
I know this probably sounds like a stupid question but can you use a Bluetooth speaker? (Sorry I’m a noob).
No, it's not a bad question. I don't know, but maybe there are sound cards with bluetooth outputs. I haven't looked or tried them. Sorry.
Can I use a Focusrite Scarlett Solo in place of the sound card?
Never tried it, but it should work fine. I've used another audio interface and it's good ... much better sound quality!
Thanks for watching!
thank you sir.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
Can i use double 3.5mm female jack(the ones let you use 2 headphones at the same time) instead of sound card?
Give it a try, but I'm skeptical about it. Still, it's worth a try. Good luck!
Thank you sir! So helpful. Instead of aux cable, can we use bluetooth speaker/earphone?
Possibly. When I made the video I tried a few but they added latency.
Can we plug headphones instead of a speaker??
Yes, absolutely!
Is it okay to use a 7.1 soundcard??
same question
same question
Haven't done it, but it should be doable.
indeed portable and inexpensive thank you Mark.
I would go with the sound card instead of the splitter ... mostly because I know it works well.
A new free Android app called notate just came out.. I think its good but I am working out some
Operation errors on my part.
Whoa! Slow down brother. I need to pick one and go with it! :)
Is the phone necessary? I mean could you directly plug your guitar to the speaker without the phone?
Hi Mark. Great setup. Thanks for sharing :-)
Do you have any experience with recording what you play, with this setup ? As far as I can see, Deplike cannot record.
Thanks Peter. I haven't done any real recording with it - just an omnidirectional condenser mic in an open room.
Does this works for acoustic guitar?
My guitar is grason.
Yes, this works if you have a pickup in it.
I've never heard of it. I'll give it a try sometime. Sounds great!
Hi thanks. Is there a Wah and any metal effects?
Good question. There is a wah and several high gain amps and metal distortion pedals ... BUT ... not for free. I think they are modestly priced.
Can u suggest any software for windows 10 if i wish to connect the sound card to my laptop.
Sorry, I haven't used anything on the laptop lately. People swear by the PositiveGrid tools, but I can't vouch for them.
OK. Thanks
I ain't cheap if you want anywhere near the full capability of it.
can you send the audio over bluetooth?
I think you'd need a special sound card or an adapter post-soundcard. I have no idea whether they make those items.
Can u name all connector every part on an above ? I want buy , but i don't know what name every part
Hey Mark, I have a question what if I want to use headphones so I can practice quietly, should I get a splitter jack?
If you have the sound card, you don't need another splitter. Just plug your headphones into the sound card instead of the speaker. Works perfectly.
Thanks for this. Can you minimize Deplike and play along simultaneously with music via an mp3 playing app or something like Pandora, Spotify, etc.?
I'm not sure of that, but ... In Deplike there is a facility for doing it directly in the latest version.
Can i use this system with harmonica and microphone? That would be good..
I'm not sure. Sounds like a cool idea.
What apps your use sir..?
Deplike.
Does this setup work with the amplitube UA for android or just works for the deplike andrig app?
Sadly, it does not. (I couldn't get it to work in any case) For that to work you will need a guitar interface instead of the typical sound card. The only interface I'm fairly sure will work is the iRig UA. This is built for Android devices to use the USB/OTG method. The original iRig and similar devices used the headphone jack. That works well with Apple products, but it's horrible with Android if it works at all. (Except I've heard that Samsung products work okay in this regard.) I tried it and the latency was so bad I gave up. Deplike is the only software I know that (more or less) fully supports USB.
Do you have to use the USB or can you just right right into the mic input?
Hi Rob. I couldn't get Deplike to work through the headphone jack / mic input. It's probably possible, but I'm not sure. I *did* get another app to work through the headphones, but the latency was horrible! The USB/OTG fixed that for me, so that's why I'm recommending it.
hey Mark its a cool idea, can i use this concept in my active bass guitar? and will it work if i use my headset instead of a speaker?
Yes to both questions! Having said that, I have found the Behringer Guitar Link to be a *HUGE* improvement over the cheap soundcard. It costs a bit, but works much better. Here's a demo/comparison video for you. th-cam.com/video/UeRpSO0Bd-4/w-d-xo.html
big late sound? Slight late sound? Or not?
This is the same setup as in the other video, but with a cheap soundcard. It will have the same latency, just will be noisier as well.
Beautiful channel
Thanks!
(Here's an improvement:th-cam.com/video/UeRpSO0Bd-4/w-d-xo.html)
Good luck!
@@stebbarry9395 Awesome! Thanks!
Thank you sir it worked 👍👍
I imagine blue tooth speaker would work as well?
I think not with this setup. I think you would need a sound card that is bluetooth enabled.
I did everything exactly as in the video but for some reason my soundcard is not turned and I don´t know what to do
marco andrias merila Hi.
Thank you for answering my comment. Sadly I just found out that my smartphone doesn´t support the soundcard so thats why it doesn´t work
That sucks. Sorry about that.
