I don't think they are scandalous and reading them will take you to hell. Sirach speaks many virtues which Jesus practiced them in his life( he might not refer to them). Even in NT there are contradictions like : Paul says that we are saved by faith alone. Letter of James says we also need works. Paul also said I need love in addition to faith. So will you reject books in the NT too. This space is too little to discuss. Remember one thing that it was one and only Catholic Church that brought the books of Bible available to the people. Later different minds have approached differently on the canon. Now a days even in a family there is no unity. In 2000 years of historical Catholic Church there will be people who differ from Catholic faith, dogma, doctrine, scripture and tradition and we don't mind that. Athanasius is against the Deuterocanon and Greek Septuagint books and why jews forced to recognize the 39 books. These may be a study under closed doors of protestant inhibition. Haven’t you heard what they write about perpetual virginity of Mary, transubstantiation of Eucharist, prayers of saints and so on.
