I'm not disrespecting the level of firepower a Mauler brings to the field, I'm just saying that those LRM racks make it look like it's wearing an 80's woman's business suit.
That and tbh with all of the Mauler's weapons being oriented towards long range fire, I'd probably swap out the LRMs for SRMs or Streak SRMs myself. That's what I tend to do in the Mechwarrior games anyway.
@@z3r0_35 In roguetech I saw one with some fancy roguetech only things like Tandem Micromissiles and acid Heavy MRMs plus a clan ultra 20 and two snub PPCs. Seemed like a bit of a waste of the 3 empty ballistics but ah well.

One of my favorite things to do in MW5 with the Mauler-R1 is to replace the ac2s with the ac2 burst fire and just hold down the trigger until what ever is in front of it is dead

Thank you for the lecture boss! Not much to add here, never really seen one of these in the wild before. Snake space is a bit far from home for me and even good new design mechs don’t usually travel that far. But I always loved the Solaris casts even as a kid so I’ve seen these thing go in the area and your right they damn impressive look’n and pack some nasty firepower. And the cartoon, damn that brings back memories, I loved watchin it with my sis over the casts. And when I was older my fellow Mechwarrior apprentice and I would all get together in the dropships lounge to rewatch it along with copious amounts of alcohol and our preferred recreation drug. It was hilarious!
That MW2:M box art......best box art of the cereal box era of pc games imo. I was like 7 or 8 when my dad brought that home and it got me into the game so much that many years later I have a clan mech tattooed on me and I became a tank commander IRL because actually robot tanks aren't a thing yet, but it's a close second. Love the videos!

This quickly became one of my favorite assault mechs in MWO. Double heatsinks, two LRM10s, six Medium Lasers, and a pair of RAC/5s with a LOT of ammo. It was especially obnoxious inside the city, where you could find yourself unable to see or hear very well if you crossed in front of me.
If you bring him ammo, he brings the Dakka. Just refit all weapons with clan tech and with the free tonnage give it an AMS, more ammo and armor. Ta-da you have a real warcrimemachine. And no, I don't want to hear stuff like "But DerBurned, that stuff is expensive and hard to get". Go kick some clanners into their "honor area", and guess what? You get that stuff for free! #noclannersallowedonmydropship

Ammo dependence & HUGE sticky-out arms are my main gripes with this machine. It's good that its standard variant suits long range best. Nice take, Mage Leader.
Incredible job as always Mage Leader. The Mauler was a chunky monkey but one that got the job done. I think it would be awesome if the "Battle Tech" tv show got a hard sequel with at least a pg-13 rating. Man, we could have some fun with that one. The only thing missing is a battle mech doing a silly dance during a mission and everybody being confused.

Something I find amusing is how due to reports that the Tyco toy for the 1990s cartoon had problems with its pilot ejection feature they added into the canon that the Mauler was infamous among Mechwarriors for faulty ejection seats.
I saw some maniac slap an Arrow platform onto one shoulder at the cost of the other shoulder being empty and the ACs replaced with some primitive rifle backup piece.
Step 1: Fit twin heavy gauss rifles. Step 2: Fill everything else with ER medium lasers. Step 3: Get a friend to do the same thing. Step 4: Make clanners cry.

ran in a campaign where we had the ejection bug on an 11+ roll in one of those. my commando snagged a kill on a fresh mech with a SRM-2. That pilot never bought a beer for the rest of his life lol
I think the engineers at the factories messed up the blueprints and no one noticed till it was too late and they shipped thousands out already at that point if not hundreds of thousands, and a few wires in thousands being mixed up can mess the whole mech up
I like the Mauler pretty well. I'd replace the quad AC/2s with twin AC/5s myself; maybe even AC/10s depending on what you can get for weight and space. That said; quad AC/2s will, well, *maul* any light or medium mech at range.

I never used this mech. While I like the quad ac/2 concept, the dual ER Large lasers seem kinda pointless since there isn't enough heat sinks to support them and the missile launchers.

Switching out the FF for ES gives more tonnage to put significantly more armor if you do nothing else.

Well they had some upgraded Hatamoto-Chis to use as shiny distractions when premiering the "Brand new" mauler.
I always viewed the Mauler as being under armored and lacking enough heat sinks to effectively use its weapons
In tabletop I have one modified with 2 AC5s, 2 MLs, 2 SLs, 1 SRM2, and 4 LRM 5s, 16.5 tons of armor, and plenty of heat sinks.

But you'll have to sacrifice tons of armor for it...even 100 ton mechs have issues mounting dual heavy gauss and any amount of ammo and back up gear

I belive it would trip the "Imminent reactor breach/ammo explosion" circuit built into the torso.
