You're not getting horror out of the terminator franchise unless you return to the allegorical roots of the narrative, and I bet you didn't even know there were any.
Not during the laneway foot chase at the beginning. The buildings look like they are at least sixty years old. They would probably be even older if it wasn't for WW1 because the water supply situation for the city was definitively solved by 1913 when Brisbane started building its sewage system on the northside by Nudgee Shire and Sandgate Town councils.
I suppose the end of this chase doesn't make as much sense these days, Terminator could have taken everyone out and completed its mission. But they opted to make him vanish and go covert for movie reasons.
He got shot in the head and arm and was likely out of ammo. So he was half blind and probably wouldn't be able to reload. The cops were there in force and had more backup on the way. It's very likely they could have shot him enough times to render him inoperable.

Wrong! In the screenplay it specifically says Reese shot it in the wrist and it had to perform surgery to remove the slug that was jamming its arm mechanism.
Less than 2 minutes action, but very intense and nail-biting I prefer this to the overly long, drawn out chase with the crane truck in T3.... that was waaaay over the top.

Teminator shotgun looks like it holds a capacity of 5 shells...pistol grip shotgun with no stock had a longer magazine tube which probably held 7 shells...none of the scenes shot more than 5-7 times in a row and could have been reloading inbetween shooting scenes
I don't know why the terminator would have run away because of the Police present therefore abandoning his mission. He could of eaten the Police bullets while completing the mission could he have not?

Tal vez habrá quien justifique que el exterminador después se repara a sí mismo del ojo y brazo dañado (muy dañados), pero no creo que esos daños fueran impedimento para ir a cumplir su objetivo después del choque, pues habría de recibir disparos de simples pistolas de mínimo impacto, pero podía ir directo por Sara, o bueno, quizás aun recibir algún disparo del rifle de Reese, pero aun así no me hace sentido la huida. Es simple, un exterminador no huye, va hasta el final por cumplir su objetivo, el "dolor", el daño recibido jamás será impedimento.
