i was going to say the same thing, i will say one thing, i'm glad they didn't show heel hooks, i see a billion different horrible heel hooks gone wrong
I was grappling with a friend just for fun and decided to check this vid out after putting him in an X-guard. I didn’t know what to do afterwards so I just kept him trapped. Thanks Shane!
Man bjj looks so intriguing and technical. Would love to get into it one day when i can, i can see how this art would be addictive to learn so many moves and counters and counters to those counters etc looks great, nice vid Shane.
@@ahmadday64 yeah few years back unfortunately life and pre-existing injuries have only allowed me to train in spurts over the years. Never realized how hard physically it could be on a middle age person. But looking to get back into it at another gym soon.
The entrance used for the kneebar, that is how you goong into an ankle lock too, not like how was shown in number 1. When going in, you turn the leg in the same way she did in the kneebar, when you are facing belly down take your inside shin and pin their knee to the ground then finish. A belly down ankle lock is actually belly down and all ankle locks have the the shin in the kneepit. Alot a bjj people seem to go for a belly down ankle lock and stop half way through on their side, and they also ignore regular ankle lock and leg knot control
If you do this without the uniform would you be able to grab the wrists as if they were the uniform sleeves? Would that still work? Or how can you adjust it so that you don't have to rely on an article of clothing you know thanks in advance
I know x guard sweep works. I do it all the time. You may have to modify some of the techniques for no-gi. The ankle lock looked pretty much transferable
What doesn’t Erin post on her TH-cam smh Shane you should do some bjj tournaments. I’m just now starting bjj but I have a wrestling background and I’m loving bjj!!!
Damn! I stepped away for a few years. Covid being the final reason but in truth I was drawing the conclusion anyway. I sweat profusely. Clean to be sure I shower before going to class. Never the less some poor soul would be partnered with me and the experience for them would be unpleasant. It would be akin to a full body sliming from the drool of your colleague's St Bernard (there is always that one guy who has one). My instructor used me in a demo for a hold and joked "I don't want to squeeze any more or I'll shoot him across the dojo like pinching a Watermelon seed". It's actually pretty funny if you picture it. To make matters worse I have oily skin too. When I go swimming I am in constant anxiety that Greenpeace will pull up in a zodiac and tell me to get out of the pool through a loud speaker. Baby powder doesn't work, it makes the woman at the grocery store think I'm an exotic male dancer... If she asks for a dance one more time I swear I'm gonna twerk her right there on the spot. Whadaya think? Would you grapple with a guy that sweat as bad as a 1970's rock star?
You'd be surprised how many times an untrained combatant naturally ends up in a stacked guard. They also tend to be confident in that position and unaware of the risk. The X-guard can be transitioned quickly enough to sweep them before they can react effectively. That said fight tips has pretty much been done with self defense aspects for a while now, or at least it's no longer the focus
Heeeey Shane, Hey pretty Erin :) I know nobody like a smartass, but the video description says Heel Hook, Erin's doing a straight foot lock though..... ;-)
You know, I was looking for this comment. I was thinking that this community was so hardcore and serious that nobody would even attempt one of these generic girl on TH-cam comments... but I guess there really is always at least one guy. Not sure if this is more of a pleasant surprise or a small disappointment.
And no tapping that jokes either, c'mon ppl, wtf😂 guess they are all on the other side of youtube watching Nazi vids and music vids dwelling in moms basement with Kleenex boxes and sticky keyboards 😂😂😂
normaly I would recomnd your videos to everyone, but this one is just straight up not realistic. if I start in this position (on the ground and specific legs) my opponent would just lay down on me and start to choke me and it would be best move that I couldn't counter in real fast fight. insteatd of here you show exacly something that wouldn't happen in normal fight. sorry but I gotta give you a dislike for this one. peace
@tie oneon i'm not saying the moves don't work, I'm saying that it's not real to use these moves as they're shown because it's not realistic to have a situation like this in a real fight
Mate, your opponent cant lay down on you and start to choke, you have your 2 hooks with your feet pushing against him that is the purpose of x guard he cant physcally just sit or lay down on you before clearing those hooks, which an untrained opponent doesn't know how to do. Go to a local bjj gym or mma or try with a friend you cant lay down without clearing the hooks.
Have you ever submitted anyone? Or been submitted, its exactly what it is, take their ability to fight away, talk to them, telling them your going to break their fucking ankle if they try anything else. Ive had to rnc someone twice because i let them go in a street fight and they attacked me again. I slept them the second time and walked off
*I'm a Leather Belt in Jiu Jitsu*
Best technique is you whip your opponents 'till they call you daddy
I'm dead😂😂😂😂
CRITICAL POINT: The first submission is NOT a heel hook, it is a straight ankle lock!!!
i was going to say the same thing, i will say one thing, i'm glad they didn't show heel hooks, i see a billion different horrible heel hooks gone wrong
@@manichighway5986 very fair and also I was confused cuz I was like: heel hook in the gi?
@@societybelike why not?

Hopefully its not a knee, arm, or shoulder.
But this is great to know. Thanks for the underdog knowledge.
Me: *clicks* "I don't get it..."

I stumbled upon the knee bar from the x sweep but I could tell I was missing some details. Thanks for helping me connect the dots!

this is awesome, thank you for this. i've been working on my lasso/spider to x-guard, and i can incorporate these techniques into my game.
Beautiful techniques, thanks!
cool. can you do de la riva or deep half guard next? thanks Erin :D
The first one is an anckle lock not a heel hook
the pain is caused in the heel using the wrist
@@amex4453 yeah but we can't say that it's a heel hook even if there is a preassure on the heel with the wrist
100 percent an ankle (Achilles) lock and not a heal hook. The heel hook is felt on the knee joint as it's a twisting lock on the joint.
Can white belts do this straight ankle lock without getting dq? The inside leg can reap over ?
Lol, that one guy. You guys are awesome! Thank you for sharing your skills with us.

Thanks shane needed this 👍
Hi Shane. Would you make a video about faints (for striking) and how to improve them?
Great work btw, your videos are awesome.

We're doing X-Guard now? This stuff is on closer to the sport end of BJJ than the self-defense end.
