Log Cabins is an especially moody and unpredictable wave, and very mean-spirited on top of that. It will beat the holy living hell out of you, often as not, and as Shaun Jones also replied to your question, the bottom profile is... I dunno... vicious? Is vicious the right word? There are basalt pinnacles that come very close to the surface right where you are doing your bottom turn after dropping in. There is all kinds of other high-relief contour which will inflict significant blunt-force trauma, and the whole place is alarmingly shallow. Plus, on the hard-angle north swells that make it really get up and go, Sunset and Laniakea will often be damn good too... and people find reasons to be somewhere else... besides Log Cabins. But it's one of the best waves in the world when it comes over properly, with shape. That said, it cannot ever quite be trusted. Cannot quite be relied upon to give you an exit like Pipeline does. When a set comes in, you must choose your wave with especial care, because not all of them are going to break with proper shape. Not all of them are going to treat you kindly. So people find reasons to be somewhere else...
