Hi Court, thanks to you and Tyson with your in depth reviews on this bike I've gone ahead and purchased two of these bikes. My daughter got hers last week and I'm getting mines in a few days. Can't wait to go off riding. Big thanks to Tony at reckless shipyards for looking after me and for delivering the bikes; he's topnotch and very knowledgeable about ebikes.

Just have the one key in the AXA cafe lock. No dangling keys.

Yeah, I see a lot of people do it that way. The downside is that you've got a single key to keep track of once the bike is locked. For many people, that's probably fine in your pocket or something, but there are moments where you've got a bag or purse and that key can be easy to lose track of. I'd rather have all of my keys on a keychain, and this is why I prefer the option to pull the key out when the cafe lock is open or closed. In that case, it's still possible to leave the key in while riding if you want, but you don't have to.

@@ElectricBikeReview I keep mine in a pouch along with my keys to my locks and also my Kiox display when I take it off. Yeh I just get used to the number different items on the bike.

I tried a couple of these Gazelle bikes, and they didn’t seem to have the same power as similarly rated bikes. I’m 190 lbs and they seemed pretty anemic going uphill. I don’t know why that could be.

Depending on the model and year, they might have been using the Bosch Active or Active Line Plus motors that aren't as powerful. The 2023 models seem to be more powerful with the Performance Line motors.

I felt the same about the Gazelle bikes. I test ride the Madeo T10+ and then the Reiss & Muller Charger 4, both with the same Bosch Performance Line motor (85nM torque). The Charger 4 was much easier going up the steep hill in the lowest(easier) gear. I think it may have to do with the gear setup. The Madeo T10+ has Front chainwheel = 48T and Rear chainwheel 11-36 while the Charger4 has the Front Chain ring = 42T and rear 11-50T. In other worlds the Gazelle are not setup well for Steep hill climb and is more towards speed. I could be wrong but this is my based on my limited knowledge of gear ratios!

I'm wondering if they made the battery port any less fiddly. Is it still a jive-ass rubber thing?

The 75 nM is a big deal especially in conjunction with the gear ratios!

It seems like all of the Bosch motors are higher torque these days, I thought they worked great in years past (at like 60nm) so 75, 80+ is amazing! I also love the full sized chainring they use now vs. the older reduction gearing that would spin the mini chainring 2.5x per crank revolution like this: electricbikereview.com/haibike/xduro-fs-rx-27-5/

@@jhonvantwout3157 I think it’s legally mandated there, right? I don’t like the dangling, it makes noise.
