I ran Pimax for years, but I've pretty much given up on them after being burned too many times. Over the years, I have received a total of 5 VR headsets from Pimax, including 2 Crystals. Out of those, only 2 were not defective and/or did not fail quickly. Both Crystals were defective in multiple ways (6 different problems in total between them). Plus I've been burned by their customer support taking so long that the product goes out of warranty during troubleshooting so they could decline RMA. I'm tempted by the Crystal Super's specs, but I know the reality is going to be a dumpster fire of QC and other problems like every other Pimax release has been. Especially for a new model with such aggressive specs and complex new gimmicks like the modular optical stack. Pimax products are great _when they work._ So the idea of a company that will step in and resolve the challenges of receiving and maintaining an actual properly working Pimax product is appealing and could get me to run Pimax again. I would pay a lot more money for that versus rolling the dice on getting a non-defective unit from Pimax itself or having to deal with their customer support.
Yeah any less then par QC is very much like that... But to be hinest the quest 3 had pretty bad QC with an isnae quality ranbge unlike any device I have owned before... Like you could get the jack pot like I did or get one that would be a lemon if it didn't actually work despite doing that poorly... But to give Meta credit tehy and their endless vedors did do a great job aat fixing peoples QC issues... Lijke pimax and vcaule index has but atleast the quest 3 worked even if it wasn't fuine at all... And sending back lemon after lemon and knowing all products you buiy from that company are all lemons in wait it just takes a random time to ripe with to be far Pimax doing a batter job at QC after getting all the lemons then value has with thej inhdex which J think has goitten better based on videos like Pimax but most index owners have lost the fight to care and just suffer as while they have wartey that works it's just a hasle to do not values fault but still... Sio yeah let's hope Pimax venders go hard on pimax for having zero QC itr normally does so they can finally fix it...
@@GreenBlueWalkthrough There is no other company in the VR industry with QC problems that even approach the levels which have been typical for Pimax. I've too often seen people handwave it away as "other manufacturers have defective units, too!" Sure. But not at similar rates. If Quest 3 had the defect rates that Pimax did, it would be all over the news. And the Valve Index has a reputation for poor longevity, not poor QC. But Valve also has a good reputation for servicing its warranty which offsets those longevity concerns. Pimax gets away with terrible QC because it's a small company that sells almost exclusively to a niche market of hardcore enthusiast tinkerers who are willing to accept substandard QC as well as other reliability issues and even outright nonfunctional advertised features. Anything for that sweet sweet cutting edge display. More typical customers are not willing to tolerate any of that.
+1 my crystal OG worked and was awesome for 6 months, I started having issues after that. Customer support just gave me discounts for new cables, but the problem was still there. Now my crystal is a brick, i never got offered to have the headset serviced or anything. Not to mention i had to hunt down people on discord just to get an answer to my tickets. I gave them a chance and got burned! Never again!
Plenty of other resellers with Pimax inventory in the US (such as NewEgg and Micro Center) - so that's not new. Customer support would have to beat those other resellers to make this a viable business model (not just providing better customer support than Pimax since that's a pretty low bar). But looking at the ingeniousvr website, seems this is focused on selling Pimax Crystals to businesses and then providing support for developers and business uses?
Neither of them have even a single person who specializes in Pimax hardware. We actually started off helping businesses who use Pimax and expanded to consumers.
Ordered a Pimax Crystal Light Nov 9th, shipping time stated at order was supposed to be total 2-4 weeks ... I get an email from Pimax on Dec 9th that the units have arrived in Canada and cleared customs and would be shipped out straight away with a tracking number provided ... 10 business days later I still do not have a tracking number and my 2 emails to Pimax support have been ghosted ... IF I ever get this thing it better blow me out of the water or it will be getting returned and I would NEVER do business with Pimax again ...
@@danceoffAsh Hi and thanks for the concern ... Nope, nothing yet ... but after a lot of pestering PIMAX did send me an Amazon Logistics order and tracking number ... that was Dec 30th ... Dec 31 they sent me some sketchy third party tracker that showed it shipped ... but still receiving nothing by Jan 11th I called Amazon only to be told that they had no such order, that the order number quoted wasn't even the right sequence of numbers/letters for an Amazon order and they had no record of the tracking number either. So bottom line is PIMAX has my $1200, and I have nothing but a fake Amazon order/tracking number ...
Definitely like that there is an option for just getting a headset with base station compatibility. That was the way forward for people upgrading that just wasn't on offer before.
Honestly, I had written off Pimax no matter how far their tech has come. I wanted the Super, both QLED and OLEd optic engines but there was no way I was going to get back on the Pimax train, or should i say Crazy train. But with Kevin running the show here in the USA I may have to rethink my stance.
We aren't carrying the Lite. We will probably add the Super when it has a little volume. I dont want to get stuck where we can't replace headsets instantly.
They should get rid of the online requirement. How does he plan to sell the headsets without online requirement if that's Pimax's new business model? I'll believe it only when I see it and have it confirmed by users from the US, Mexico, and Canada.
I have had a bad Cristal light for 10 days now and can't get anyone to address the problem. The 3 responses I've gotten from Pimax were reset the headset, check for driver updates, and download some software I've never heard of.
PIMAX still takes a long time to produce headsets. I understand and have seen their manufacturing video but I think often they can't ship because they don't have stock
I think the super is not going to happen soon or at least not be very refined soon in the unlikely event it's released with the timeline that is being promoted.
I really appreciate someone stepping up to try to fix the mess that is buying/ getting/ owning a working PiMax HMD, I sincerely wish ya luck with all that.
Imagine a company with such bad quality control and customer support that another company can step in to make a business out of fixing these problems for them.
I'm excited to see Kevin leading new business, Ingenius VR. He has a great understanding of the consumer, operations, and product. With the cultural differences between the East and West, having local support is crucial, and this is a really exciting step forward.
Pimax good support?! Hah not going to happen. I havr a 8kx with 3 dead pixels in one eye. They alwats glow a color. Pimax after 5 email exchanges basically told me to pound sand. Plus the high frame rate doesnt work. I am told on the internet its because mine is first generation 8kx

Not going to fall for it. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. So costumers service will be different because I can call inside the US? Right
I think the answer to that is yes. You can get in touch with a *person, during regular hours of your day in the usa. No tarrifs, no waiting for stock to arrive for replacement units or parts. Each unit hand tested prior to shipping. We operate during Chinese holidays and have a schedule that likely matches your own. If you can think of something in addition to that we can offer USA customers honestly we would add your ideas too. We are wide open for suggestions.

Sounds great, I wonder if it is only an exclusivity contract with Pimax or if they can offer megane x also
We are looking into distributing additional devices.

Problem is they don't have even one person who can answer genuine technical questions about it beyond simple basics.
I would add we will be open the entire month of February, China is largely closed down Feb., so full support will be available 12 months per year.

Right, the core of the company is still the same.
Considering the upcoming tariffs, this makes sense. Nobody is going to pay an additional 50 percent on the current price from china.
