Congratulations Vee! Don’t be afraid to ask your program for funding, most fully understand that students need it and often it can come in the form of experience. The average length of my program was 7 years but I did it in 4 as an international student and had a Teaching Assistantship scholarship throughout (20 hours teaching a week, no tuition and small stipend). It’s difficult to find scholarships outside of your university that are open to international students so definitely would ask your department and graduate school.
Congratulations! Ph.D. students in the US are generally funded(Cost of attendance along with a stipend for being a teaching or research assistant)for the duration of their programs. Not receiving funding with your acceptance is a bit of a red flag. Check with the school to see if they may have scholarships for the group you will enroll with next year.
I’m so excited for you! I’m confused though, because most PhD programs in the US are fully funded, so you shouldn’t be having worry about scholarships. Unless this is an Doctorate of Education (Ed.D) instead of a Ph.D. which is different here? Either way, I’m so happy for you; I just know that non-funded programs here can be kinda stressful ❤️

Don't be afraid to keep your options in terms of applying to other PhD programs if this means that you can get it fully funded. Also I agree, maintain your privacy, there's no need to explain it to us. Many subscribers think that TH-camrs should be an open book. You're entitled to your own privacy and personal safety

Congrats on the PhD offer, Vee. I got my PhD offer from two US universities this year as well. But because of the funding cut, they do not have enough funding even for students in the previous year. So, funding in the US for international students is a pain in the ass~
Your PhD should be free!! if not have additional stipend for your living. Don't rush into one having to pay for it because it should not be paid. My two friends are in Econ and Chemistry PhD at two bigger universities they are all fully funded (tuition + basic living expenses)
