MPJ is a dope guest, one of the few guys I can confidently say I’ve been rooting for since he was in HS. Most NBA players I barely see much before they make the league, and even less so before college. But MPJ has been a bucket and it’s crazy to think he’s a NBA champ already. Thought it was crazy when he dropped so low in his draft but also was hoping he’d bounce back after the injury

Its because no one is the level of celebrity Lebron is and has been since high school. Ppl say Wemby or Zion were as hyped as Lebron, but Lebron was being called "The Chosen One" as a teenager before social media. Bron was at a WWF event and was a big enough star for the cameramen to get a prolonged shot of him. Non sports watchers, people like my mum have known Lebron before he was drafted. She's never heard of Wemby, and only heard of Zion because it was a big story when he ripped through his shoe.

I feel like he could provide some valuable back up 4 or 5 minutes for us but I'm not sure what a package would look like.
this celtics team feels like a team that, if they do win a ring, will get looked back on as such a good team that people will try to invalidate their success. i don’t think it has hit a lot of people now but like Kenny said once the season is over and if they win people might realize that we should have seen it coming. in the future people might acknowledge any rings that players win on this team like “yeah you got a ring but it was with the 2023 celtics so it don’t mean as much since they were so good in hindsight”.
I mean, yeah, they're a great team, definitely capable of winning a championship. That being said, I think the reason why they aren't really being talked about as much as they probably should be is because frankly, while they are a really great team... they're pretty much just a really great team. Like, consider a bunch of teams who have shown a lot of promise over the last few seasons, and what identities have formed around them. You've got the Jokic-led Nuggets, with his super-human offense and unstoppable two-man game between him and Jamal Murray. You have the Embiid-Maxey Sixers, with an absolute powerhouse scoring duo who dropped their second best player and got better for it. You've got the Bucks, who recently paired their top 3 superstar with another star who's his polar opposite, trying to figure each other out and win a championship. You've got the Heat, who managed to make it to the finals despite having no super top-tier players and who's grit is basically unrivaled. Compared to those, the Celtics are just... really, really good. Tatum is a two-way superstar, and he's really good, but he's not at the level of a top five player in the league. He's just a really great superstar. Jaylen Brown is a really great second option, he's got weaknesses but has a bunch of strengths that can be played around. He's not the best second option in the league, and doesn't have any crazy synergies with Tatum, but he's really good either way. Tingus Pingus is a great 3-and-D center who can do a whole bunch of stuff, but he's not an exception among exceptions. Jrue is a great defender and constant plus asset, but he's just really good. They've got a great fifth and sixth man, and their bench is decent. The Celtics don't really have an identity outside of being successful so far, and that makes it hard to hype them up. Yeah, they've got kind of a big four going on, but it's not like they've got the best player in the world. They don't do anything exceptionally well, and don't do anything particularly horribly. They're just really well-rounded, and really good because of it. It's not a bad thing to be that way, just kind of boring, honestly.

I just love listening to people talking about hoops. One thing that’s been echoed around the Celtics fanbase over the last few months is that “the only team can really beat these Celtics is themselves” which I think was very true the last couple years but that statement is in its truest form this year. And we still have so much room to grow and improve as a team. I’m excited and proud of the players on the team n the way some have sacrificed for the betterment of the team. But one guy who genuinely doesn’t get enough love around the league is Al Horford. Obv isn’t Steph, KD or Bron but at 38, he’s still a beast. And idk if I’m willing to trade Hauser or Pritchard atm but I felt the same with Smart n Rob tbf. Hauser just can’t miss this season
