I have not played I, II and III, but all main line single player Final Fantasy games after. It's fascinating to see where lots of the later shenagigans originated from. And even though the story seems neglectable at first glance, from your presentation alone it feels like a classic epos of good versus evil, with a few smaller twists to keep it interesting. I propably doesn't get much more classic than this one. Also, your presentation was, as usual, not only rock solid, but most pleasent as well. Nothing like hearing someone talking over a beloved something. Thanks for your work. :)
It ranks pretty low story wise but i did just finish it and the fighting system was not bad at all. Regarding the story, look at how it started in the world. 19:07 "Here my 3 students, for my final departure i will give the 3 of you a gift. For you, you get the gift of almost endless magic, making you as powerfull as a minor god. For you i give you the power of the dream world, a whole new dimension no other person has set a foot in. And for you my last student, here you have mortality..... fxxk you, you will die in 50 years" How can that not go bad?
Imagine you save an entire kingdom from a ghost curse and the kings is like "for your reward, you get a... canoe!" Like damn, where js that djin? I need to have a talk with him real quick.
@@FtanmoOfEtheirys that sounds cool except the mmo part. Tried to get into 14 but the time and dedication to it makes it a tough sell for me. Cool game so far
I've never played this game, but this version seems quite charming, particularly the new music arrangements. Thanks for introducing me to the story. I appreciate the straightforward storytelling and sharp editing
Final dungeon wasn't that bad if you know WHERE to save. So a quick run through the Ancient Maze (get all items, gain a few levels), SAVE. Do the Eureka section, clear everything, teleport out, SAVE. Run through the Crystal Tower to 8th floor, get everything, level up a few times. Teleport out, SAVE. Now blast through the Crystal Tower (takes 5 minutes) and then all you'll have left is Xande and the World of Darkness with the 4 bosses. If you get to the final boss and die, as annoying as it is, you're only out about 20 minutes. Just thought I'd share that as it's always worked for me!
The DS versions biggest difference is the heroes all have distinct personalities and you meet them at different points in the beginning. In this they're all kinda the same person but four of them.
Party: collects horns to access fire crystal Gutsco: steals horns Party:... Gutsco: uses horns to access fire crystal (letting the party in as well) Gutsco: You know I'm something of a party member myself
Im playing this now on the pixel remaster and its been a treat! First time for me to experience this in more or less its true form. You know what... it gives me some Dragon Quest vibes a little bit. Something about how you just sort of aimlessly wander around doing good deeds and helping towns. Lots of creative things going on here! My favorite part is when you shrink yourself down with mini to visit the gnome village! I also love the tune that plays in Doga and Une's shrines.
Ugh, that last dungeon. Takes a good hour or so, with no save points. You level up a few levels getting to the Cloud of Darkness, which is one of the harder final bosses in the FF series, and if you die you have to start back at your last save with nothing to show for it. That's what I remember from this game.
and it doesn't help for the DS/PSP remake that you still can't save IN IT you can QUICK SAVE on the Pixel version but if that Quick Save IS in the final dungeon and you're still not strong enough to KILL the last boss the only way OUT of that dungeon is to DIE and LOSE OVER 2+ hours for your MAIN save file.
Final Fantasy 3 is really great. Mainly due to the technical limitations back then, I can't compare it to later and more recent FF games. But, I will say, with what they had to work with back then, they had a really ambitious vision and pulled off something very impressive. People still appreciate and talk about today (2024). This has been a personal opinion.
I love this channel! Subbed after seeing you have complete stories for the first two Suikoden games! Not sure if you take suggestions, but any chance you might do a "complete Kingdom Hearts" video? Now there's a series that desparately needs some explanations. haha
I actually really like Final Fantasy III and think the Pixel Remaster is the best way to play it, followed by the PSP version (I like both versions). Never tried the DS. Pixel version will only take about 13 hours, PSP definitely requires some more grinding and takes longer but is still a fantastic game. Final Fantasy 1-10 are amazing and I adore them all! 3 is a solid game and I highly recommend it!
Great vid, I'm caught up...my only experience with this was having beaten the actual Famicom cart in raw Japanese on my NES in the days of printing walkthrus on Gamefaqs like 99 or 2000 ish and I remember it being easy af compared to 1 and 2 Im hype to play this on Switch outside that 52 color limit... FF3PR is pretty much that Wonderswan Color/GBA/PSP update the world never got
I really enjoyed the DS remake, but I've never played the original. I'll probably download the pixel remaster eventually, though. It's on my Steam wishlist for whenever it goes on special.
Love these videos, dude. Thanks again for telling us a story ❤! I never finished this on the DS but completed the pixel remaster when it came out. The music is sensational and the job system was a lot of fun. End boss zone is horrible though!
I like how game try to experiment with mini/toad and schoolar dragon viking jobs to handel some bosses or brutt forcing. But last dungeon with no guieds is a true nightmer. A lot of hard enemys mazes and the last save was where?
@@alexcordova3311 Yes it is good! It does require a bit more grinding than the Pixel Remaster version at the end but it was my first introduction to Final Fantasy III and I thoroughly enjoy my time with it every playthrough I have! Definitely give it a try if you can.
Did you hear of plans to remake this game with the current high-tech capabilities of gaming software and hardware? I mean, in 3D with ray-tracing and everything. If the story is good enough, it might work. Some 3D FF games are very popular.
The pixel remasters are terrible looking. The PSP remakes are far superior graphically. Even the FF6 mobile that got removed looked waaaaay better then how much people complained.
@@Xygor Really? Man i thought we could all agree FF1, 2 & 4 on PSP has the best pixel graphics. I was confused on why the Pixel remasters didn’t use those as a base. I think this is one of the weakest FFs story-wise. It's not thrilling at all and it's also so childish. And not in a particularly appealing way imho. Like I absolutely LOVE FF1's story for its randomness and undeniable charm, but there... I just don't feel it. And comparing FF3's story to what we got in FF2... It falls apart even more, knowing how well-written, emotional, impactful and action-packed it felt. But a great video nontheless!

In the first game you save the Princess from Garland and she gives you a lute🤣
man if I got a canoe that fit 4 people and folded up into a pocket sized shape I can take anywhere with me id be pretty stoked
5 people if you count a companion
I always loved the concept of Warriors of Darkness, and the connection there with Cecil who is a Dark Knight that turns into a Paladin.
Right on, it was great!
I honestly would play a prequel that had us play as the warriors of darkness; though Strangers of Paradise does essentially that for FF1
