- These 10 SUVs are ranked as most safest SUVs for year 2021 by US News and World Report. Ranking is based on IIHS and NHTSA crash test ratings and driver assist features to prevent accidents. So these 10 SUVs are not only stand out on crashes, but they come with the top accident avoidance systems, such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, , traffic sign recognition, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic warning, blind spot monitoring, lane departure and keep, and driver drowsiness monitoring.

I survived a freak crash in a Subaru outback, both sides of car were completely crushed , 4 wheels and axles crushed due to being catapulted sideways. No air bags deployed , no damage to cabin whatsoever. My wife and I walked away without a scratch. Incidentally , despite both sides bring crushed, doors on both passenger and driver sides opened without a problem. Did I mention all the safety features mentioned in the article are included standard all for 35K. The car was totaled but I went right out and bought another .
My friend walked away in similar situation. That caused me to buy one for myself.
That’s good but I would be troubled by the side impact airbags not deploying.
Subaru Outback also has the lowest death rates (iihs published) in non-luxury segment, almost an exception. All safety features minus the luxury.

My 2020 Rav4 came with almost all these safety features standard for thousands less and will outlast pretty much all these suv's.
I agree that Japanese & Korean cars are very well equipped but they are not in the same league that's why people are willing to pay so much more them.

I'm confused @1:57 you're reviewing the Aviator but the vehicle is marked 2020 Ford Explorer - are these vehicles exactly the same?
FOR THE MONEY I'll Take the ACURA MDX. Volvo seemingly cannot match the MDX in handling or features for the money.
ACURA's "Super Handling AWD" system is excellent, even better than AUDI's system.
I was involved in a high speed crash with multiple cars, unfortunately 2 people died and others with life threatening injuries. I was in a 2020 Lexus RX 350 my impact speed was 110 kph, my SUV had the most impact of all and the most damage I walked away with a blood nose, sore ribs and slight concussion my passengers were taken to hospital for medical check up but know one had any serious injuries and didn't require to stay, 7 other people were taken away in Ambulances. 3 SUV'S 3 sedans and a van. I'll pick Lexus thanks.

Ford expedition is the equivalent of the aviator. I'd really like one. From the early 2000's.
My 2017 expedition has had one problem since I’ve owned it and I’ve put 64k miles on it. Maybe ford escapes/edges are better from the 2000s but the expedition? Not a chance
literally two years later in 2023 not a single one of these models even made the top 30 safety picks in the IIHS or the ENCAP

When you're paid by a car manufacturer, you tend to "forget" to include the competition which is much better than your product you review.
This is also a list of unreliable suv that are endless money pits after a 3 to 4 years of ownership.

@@konsen6149 look at the IIHS crash test ratings and the top cars for safety include all Asian manufacturers...Honda, Mazda, Hyundai, KIA, Subaru, Acura, Lexus, and Nissan. The only German brand consistently ranking high is Audi. There are some Mercedes and Volvo’s sprinkled in. Facts suck, huh?

That’s a Ford Explorer, but as I mentioned on the video, Ford Explorer and Aviator both use the same Ford U1 platform. Aviator has more upscale interior and outer body design. Both vehicles have the same crash test rating.

Both Volvo XC90 and XC60 have the same safety features but the you’re saying one is safer than the other?. I’d say the bigger vehicle should be safer than the smaller one. Actually, all these lux suvs have the same safety features- some have fancier sounding name but these so called safety features have same functionality. Fun fact: Nobody died yet in a Volvo XC90 and Lexus 450.
What’s a Lexus 450? LX? I drive the SPA xc90 D5 , turbos are dead at 130k km. Luckily I have extended warranty.... a bit unreliable.... Lexus for the win

The SUV-technology is utter nonsense, a vehicle needs to be long, NOT tall, to achieve more safety! The SUVs with their higher centre of gravity, greater wind resistance and weight, go against all basic knowledge that Newton already showed several hundred years ago! What a crock! The title says "Safest SUVs" but the entire video centers on "Luxury SUVs". The it entirely leaves out some of the safest SUVs on the market. No LEXUS, Genesis, Honda, Toyota, Subaru or Tesla? This isn't even based on 2021 models as it constantly is referencing 2020 ratings. With the immense number of complete redesigns for 2021, 2020 ratings are utterly irrelevant.

There are way more affordable suv's that are just as safe if not more safe like the mazda cx-5 for one and is much more reliable than most of the vehicles on this list so its really a very poor and rich people biased video. Just because its expensive doesn't make it a great vehicle.

I guess you have to pay for it. All high end suv's that depreciate to half value in 4 years.
That’s why you shop around for a 3-4yrs old or newer with low miles. Let the first owner eat the depreciation. Just bought a 2019 MB GLC 300 with 15,000 miles on it for $28,000 still has 3 yrs left on the 5yr/unlimited mileage warranty.

@@abovethelaw4417 you act like I didn’t spend 6 months looking for the best deal I could find for the model I have with the accessories I got. A damn good deal now I just need to hope it last better than most. I also plan to not go by their 10,000 mile service plans and do them every 5000. Hopefully that will help with the maintenance. Pay a little more in oils changes and etc.. to hopefully avoid the more expensive work down the road. I also was able to get the stupid idle shutoff and restart at every damn red light function turned off. Hopefully that helps protect the engine too. Man I spent 6 months driving my wife crazy because I wanted the best deal I could get. I’m not sure I got the best one but I did pretty damn good and I still have 3 yrs left on the warranty with unlimited miles. I’m not gonna let some internet troll rain on. My sunshine you might not like it but I’m good with it. I just hope because mine was built in Stuttgart it lives up to the reputation as being better than then other pants in other countries. Fingers crossed
