This is so true 👍 I use to love coming home from school and watching Crocodile Hunter, every day I’d get in I’d put it on and was always fascinated by the work Steve did and his love for all animals. Even though I didn’t know Steve personally it still hit me hard when the news came on about his death, i couldn’t believe it. I’m 34 now and every time I watch a clip of Steve Irwin it brings back childhood memories, good and bad. What a Legend 🕊 👏🙏

For anyone wondering about Issei Segawa, while he was a celebrity for a time due to the horrible act he did, in later years before his death, particularly amongst the rising youth and up & coming, he became an outcast by everyone for it; he was unable to find work, no one wanted to publish his works, he was rejected from a French language school and was denied access to his parents' funeral... And he hated EVERY moment of it. So while he was never properly punished by the justice system, because of his actions (the actions he claims to have come to regret) he was unable to live even a passable life.

I wanted to be a trainer and work with Killerwhales when I was a kid - I was obsessed with it but then I saw Blackfish and heard about Dawn...it broke my heart how they blamed her. It also killed me inside after studying Killerwhales and learning how emotionally traumatized these poor creatures are in captivity. Living in a small pool is no life for them...they need their pods just like we need our families for support and love. They shouldn't blame Dawn though....that is a low move on their part.

Saying Steve wouldn't have blamed the stingray because he had always been passionate about what he did, and he loved all animals to bits, no matter how capable they are of ending human lives. In short, it's a way to say that Steve, being the wholesome guy that he was, would've understood that the stingray was only trying to defend itself instead of actively trying to kill him.

After so long you'll began realizing your fate, if you don't do anything you'll definitely die. So you might as well die trying than just laying there accepting your fate. I'm sure after hrs of his arm being crushed he lost most of the feeling in his arm. The cutting itself he likely didn't feel, not until he cut through the nerves and had to snap the bone in his arm. He was more concerned about stopping the bleeding after that point. So basically the whole process would be fairly quickly after he reaches the point of no return. He likely slowly cut into his arm at first, but once he cut through the artery he had to hurry. It's an amazing feat nevertheless.

I think people need to know the whole picture here. Sagawa was declared mentally sick in France even though he was not just because he had an unusual desire AND because of something as dumb as a translation error. During interrogation Sagawa told the translator that he had suffered from peritonitis when he was a child (fukumakuen in Japanese). However the translator used the word suimakuen which is meningitis. So the investogator thought that he was brain damaged because of that though he had never suffered from meningitis.
A judge then decided to send Sagawa to a mental institution without the case going to court which means it was closed. THEN the French people got mad because they didnt want to use tax money on a foreign cannibal so it was decided that Sagawa should be send to Japan. But countries have different laws regarding mental institutions so Japan had to find out if he was qualified. Which he was not since he was not crazy as he had no brain damage. Therefore they wanted to send him to jail and requested that France send all the documents from the case... which they could not send because of French laws preventing that. Cus the case was never brought to court.
Without official evidence or anything else but the criminal who had broken the law in another country that refuced to provide the charges Japanese authorites had no legal rights to keep Sagawa in their custody. And that is why he walked free. People are mostly blaming Japan but it was France who were being dumb and stubborn.

@@billsussman6554 understandable. Everyone has a right to their opinion, and I don't mean to take anything away from what he's done, but I just can't help from looking at it as a price that he had to pay in order to live due to him being so wreckless, and irresponsible in the first place, and it's true that a lot of people don't have the heart to break, and amputate their own arm like he did, but then again. I can't imagine many people being so careless that it would land them in a similar situation anyway. I can't call him a hero. He's no role model. In fact the best thing that you could teach a kid that relates to him is to not be as wreckless as him. He's really just a lucky sob to me, but I'm still glad that he lived to tell his story.

They need to let those animals go. The do not help them they put them in tiny tanks for years and years. I read the reason they're dorsal fin slump over is because they cannot swim and eat frozen fish.

@Manda lynn ABSOLUTELY!!!! Tilikum was sick from not being able to swim freely & eating frozen food, all you had to do to realise this was look at his dorsal fin... NO healthy, free Orca has been seen with a flopped fin, what that poor orca and so many others went through in those tiny pools was HORRIFIC!!!!! I read a comment above where some said, "Sea world owned the whales" NO the stole them from the sea and shut them in caged pools for years & years & years makes me sick to my stomach!!!!

I've seen _Cannibal Holocaust._ It was actually on Hulu many years ago. I've seen a lot of gruesome stuff in my time, including real footage of people dying in horrible ways, but for some reason the scene of the guy butchering the big tortoise actually made me queasy (and yes, I know the tortoise was actually butchered for real).

Losing Steve Irwin was like losing a family member. He was so enthusiastic, and genuinely cared about the animals he came in contact with. There was never any scandal, any accusations, regarding their treatment. We lost him way too soon. Steve, you were GORGEOUS!

I remember being at the end of my freshman year of high school when the Columbine shooting happened. We'd went through the whole year with a cool quiet guy wearing a trenchcoat almost everyday. The day this happened he immediately became everyone's enemy and was bullied to no end. He never broke, even after being suspended out of fear. He never said anything or did anything bad. I tried to help my friends defend him as he was their friend. Rumors can have major consequences on the undeserving. He moved away because of it. It's an event from high school I'll always remember. It's one thing when students are scared and doing it but it's a whole other level when the teachers and staff get scared and you over hear them theorizing.

Aron's description of freeing himself was very emotional, that he had to sacrifice his own limb in a way of freeing himself completely... and the way he talked about it shows how he's either both shook, and happy that he'd free himself at the cost of his hand/lower forearm.
