While their second half was amazing, villa's last 4 games were pretty average.

Great video Gianni. One thing I would add is that there is I think always a team that improves from one year to the next and my pick is Chelsea - I think Sterling in particular is going to improve massively 😉
what about Forest. abslute chaos start last year. one win in first 12? 30 new players. one away win all season? Then end up beating liverpool, arsenal, draws with chelsea and man citeh annd finish 16th? On that basis youd have to expect them to be 10 points better tthis season

yeah you are right, but you should always consider the share of the goals as well. The share between the players at Brighton and MCI is much higher than at LIV and Spurs for example.

Keep posting the unique content, Gianni! Haven’t seen anything close to this from any other FPL creators at the moment. I have Enciso, Mitoma and Estupinan with Saka, Jesus and Gabriel and Stones, Foden and Haaland at the moment. Good triple ups for the start of the season and I’m thinking Bruno F and TAA will be below expectations this season.

Great video. Have you thought of reviewing how new transfers will impact existing FPL assets? What does Soboslai do for Trent and Salah? What does Maddison do for Kane? Tonali, Havertz, Onana....
Think it’s very hard to predict these things because we don’t know how they’ll be utilised by their managers, better to wait till we see how they play in preseason

I'd be wary of starting with Botman, I think less experienced fpl managers will start with him and if Newcastle concede a few early on he'll be sold and drop in price. It's easier to get him in when the fixtures turn.
Also think it's a mistake to say Trent isn't worth it based on last seasons numbers. Liverpool had a disaster of a season but finished strongly, if they don't have another injury crisis they could tear it up this season with the revamped midfield and Trent will be at the heart of it!
trent will be in my team fairly early on im sure. don't plan on starting with him tho

For Manchester United, Manchester United conceded against Liverpool and Brentford away 11 goals.
3 CS in pre seaon
Trent is arguably the best way of covering Liverpool without weakening your team elsewhere. Expecting Liverpool to be better defensively this season and with his assist/bonus threat he's probably worth the outlay; especially if you think of him if you own him as being an extra midfielder.
But then you could use the counter argument that Konate could cover the Liverpool defence for example- leaving enough money to get two or three other options in your team that could be better than TAA at least in the short term
Tbf it’s pretty much a choice between Bruno Fernandes and Trent and with the fixtures I’d prefer Bruno 🤷🏽♂️ I’m still picking Trent cause I wanna captain him Vs Bournemouth and swap for a Chelsea wing back in gw3 and upgrade midfield to son
he is great in this role but i think i will go without him and then buy him after a month or so. im going martinelli instead

Regarding the Man City defence the question is which player gets the most starts due to City’s options. And the keeper is immediately discounted as an option due to poor points per million value
yeah discount ederson. Stones and dias if you can afford are better assets than the rest. i am risking ake tho because of money
i think your choices of metrics is perfectly spot on by comparing BOTH attack & defense for last season but then again you shouldn’t compare a team based on just ONE season, you should use the same metrics you used for 2 seasons and use that result for your outcome. Try comparing teams stats based on 2 seasons. For example, Chelsea (Not a Chelsea fan) should be in that ‘defense table’ you made. Last season Chelsea conceded 47 goals in total which is a lot, i know. But the season before that they ONLY conceded 33 goals so if you do it like this.. 47+33 = 80 so basically in 2 seasons Chelsea only conceded 80 goals and they are ranked quite high only Man City and Liverpool are a better defense based on data for 2 seasons but much better than the likes of Man Utd and Newcastle. You always have to keep in mind that ANY premier league team can have a bad season, for example. Leicester were regulated and i bet no one predicted that to happen Lol. Liverpool and Chelsea had a bad season too and they will most likely bounce back, you saw Liverpool near the end of season they were getting better. Scored more goals and kept more clean sheets, we haven’t seen Chelsea bounce back yet but we might see it during the pre-season hopefully but then again. You can’t put Chelsea under the bus just because of one season we all know Chelsea’s defense and Liverpool’s defense is far better than the likes of Man Utd and Newcastle if you compare them based on 2 seasons or even 3 seasons will be proven correct. I just think Man Utd inconsistency is to be feared the most we’ve seen it every season time and time again and as for Newcastle i don’t think Eddie Howe will have another good season, i don’t know where they will finish next season but surely not top4

Fair enough mate thank you for the feedback. Strangely this is the show i have had most compliments on recently but part of me agrees with you, stats aren't my natural game so doing a stat heavy show probably isn't as good for me! i'm more of an opinion man from eye test!

we would have more citeh if we knew the banker, the very issue ss tthat we dont , with Pep roulette. End of last season most folk had triple brightn and arsenal and dont see that changing much either. So we didnt relly learn anything there. Defensively we were strong on newcastle and utd to a degree and like the citeh players but once again is Pepe roulette. So nothing really new for me there either. Now if youd said that forest had 40% clean sheets at home or Fulham only conceded more than one goal in 50% of games would be more useful imo and offer real insight
but we aren't buying forest and fulham players and this was a show presenting the top 5 in each area. the top 5 are important because the bulk of players we buy are from those teams
Spurs massively outperformed their xG and are going to more attacking this season 🤔 they could score loads, especially if we get Son back.

Brighton had more SoT and xG but scored fewer than Arsenal. Isn't that just inaccuracy/poor finishing? I don't think we should always value expected points over real points!
They create a load don’t they. Guess efficiency needs improving. But also Arsenal had martinelli and Odegaard who were both in the top 6/7 players over performing their cg last season. Martinelli was 3rd best. Something like 15g from 9xg off the top of my head. Odegaard similar.

will the integration of mount, cause fernandes to play deeper like he did at the end of last season, causing his returns to decrease. Many people are going after him so what do u think?
i do think so but hard to predict. bruno will always be a good performer regardless of position.

Great video! However, I would still target Chelsea. Also, I don’t have any Brighton attackers! Currently my midfield 5 is Son, Martinelli, Saka, Rashford and Foden. With Haaland and Nkunku up front

In terms of clean sheets against the top teams, Arsenal only managed *1* (H NEW), Chelsea *2* against Liverpool, Man United were good against lower opposition but only got *2* clean sheets (H NEW, H TOTT).
Brighton got *4* (H LIV, H MNU, H NEW, A ARSENAL), Man City only 3 (twice against Chelsea and H NEW) but they don't have Mac 10
Liverpool got *4* (twice against Chelsea, H MNC, H MNU) and Newcastle got 5 (H CHEL, twice against Man United, A ARSENAL, A BRI).
Man City leaked a lot of goals, kept fewer clean sheets and had no Cancelo for most of the season nor an alternative attacking defender.
I don't think Pep is too bothered about clean sheets if City can score goals for fun.
Based on Liverpool's second half of the season and their record against top teams, Trent seems essential.
Newcastle were so good defensively last season that I'm tempted to start with Trippier. At least, have Botman on the bench and bring Trippier in for a double-up in GW5.
Still, we have to see pre-season first.

Why is ederson "terrible option" , you get nailed on city defender for 5,5mil, if they don't keep clean sheets then dias,stones and other defenders are getting same points as ederson
its more the other better options for such less money. not sure there are loads of better 4.5 and 5.0 options than Stones at 5.5 for example.

Think these stats are irrelevant and also misguiding. For example Emery took over from Gerrard who were one of the worst teams in the league. Since Emery has been at Villa, they are rejuvenated and feel the stats are not a true reflection. So can't read too much into this unfortunately.
i dunno maybe. you're right to look at runs under new managers and new positions from players too. for example with trent we should look post gw30 which was his new position. but in general comparing season long is fine imo
Brighton without MacAllister and Caceido will not perform as well. Its that simple imo.
it isnt tho. they have a style and way of playing and playyers fit that process as they have done last couple of seasons so it dependds whho they repace them with

@PazLeBon I fully get that, brighton has an amazing style, I love watching them. But unfortunately you can't lose your midfield strength and complete at the same level. I'm not saying they will be bad. But they are not coming top 8 this season unless they seriously make magic happen.
