" I have crossed the horizon to find you. I know your name."
Have always thought of that line as the Holy Spirit calling out reaching for us. I love it so much.

Thank you for starting here. Such a great movie and the Christian themes you presented were not as obvious to me. I wasn’t surprised that the overall theme was Christ-like, but the nuances presented here were appreciated.

Your perspectives here are extremely interesting. Especially in polarizing times like this, dialogue is important. It’s good to know that a movie meant to be a tribute to Polynesian culture is appreciated by a Christian organization, given troubled history.

Just throwing out there, y’all are so brave to evangelize through media! It’s really rough with how awful people can get halfway to anonymity, and things like this are great to get the Word out to who needs to hear it most!

For the section which you related to baptism, it’s also inspired by Moses being pulled from the Nile- which is later enforced by Moana parting the seas. She has essentially been called to lead her people on a voyage as Moses was chosen to lead the Exodus.

I love the Daughters of St. Paul. They all deliver such awesome messages about the Sunday Gospels.

I feel the whole film is an allegory for our need to take care of the planet.
Best line in the film: 'I'm the village crazy lady. It's my job.'
Fun fact: #1 Alan Tudyk, who voiced Hei Hei, was also Villager #3, the one who asked 'Couldn't we just...cook him?'
Fun fact #2: Maui's tattoos were animated by hand, not CGI
Maui's description of the creation of coconuts is reminiscent of the Algonquin tale of the origin of corn.
Maui has to make right his act of stealing the heart of Te Fiti, While he isn't actually the one to restore the heart, he makes it possible of Moana to do so, Plus, he is genuinely sorry for having stolen it in the first place.
if I recall correctly, touching foreheads is an expression of greeting in some Polynesian cultures.

5:30 She wasn't so much chosen as tested (tempted). She was given a choice to either pick up that beautiful shell or save the turtle-a choice between a selfless act of kindness and personal gain. You can see the moment the ocean vibrates in joy as she does the selfless thing, the moment she becomes the chosen one. As you said, she's too young to reason about her choice, so it was her intrinsic character being tested here-her love for all living things is what brought her the burden of later saving all living things.
So, it is more about how doing good out of love, not reasoning, is a burden, not a reward. That's one of the core struggles of belief. Do we pay lip service to the teachings and do good when it benefits us, or do we do good because it's the right thing to do, even if it's a burden?

I love this movie, it holds such a special place in my heart for sentiment reason's. Hearing your breakdowns and applying religious reasonings (that I honeslty wouldn't have thought of), makes it that much more special. Thank you 😊🙌🏼

Yes! Thank you! I felt connected to this movie. Your commentary brought out all I was connected to growing up. I need to continue to find 'the good' in people, and with God's help, help them see the same in themselves.

Thank you so so much for sharing your thoughts and give more insight and a spiritual meaning to this movie! I had a small request haha! With these nun react videos do you think you can do more of the Disney movies? I love love love Disney movies and I would like to put a positive spiritual part to them. Many people that I know say that Disney is satanic or is not good and I would like to put these movies in a more spiritual thought. They may or may not be bad but I like to think of things/people as something more positive and what greater way to do that with relating it to the Lord! I would love to hear more about it!! Also I love your guys podcast and videos!! God bless you girls and thank you for all you girls do!!🫶🏼☺️🙏🏼♥️

You'll find a better disciple in 1978s animated movie Pilgrim's Progress. A great allegory for a Christian life.

if you want a movie that you can react to with eyes of faith check out the Ghost in the Darkness. Much of that movie can be seen with spiritual eyes. Another would be the Power of One. Thanks for your reaction

She returns gods heart. Christianity has nothing to do with it.
I understand you are taught to shove Jesus into everything, but it is rather disrespectful to take another culture religion and mythos and try to cram yoyrs into it.
