I am confused as to what caused you to become “Really, really frustrated” with the wooden handle/metal head…

Thank you so much, I was about to buy the one with the metal head, would you mind sharing why you did not like the metal one please? And would you say the Jiffy does the job faster than other full size/floor steamers? the only reason I am considering spending the $ on this one is because I need something that will cut down the steaming time in half or at least a significant amount compared to other similar steamers

According to Jiffy Steamer, tap water is fine.

Yes , but if you are investigating in a steamer or dropping $60-$200 per shirt and $300-$1000 per suit, why would you? Just like a normal iron, tap water will leave minerals in the reservoir that will build up over time. When you least expect it, those minerals will rust and you have a nice brown mineral stain deep in the fibers on your clothes thanks to the steam. If you must use tap water, never leave unused tap water in the reservoir and you’ll need to periodically use an anti-mineral solution to clean it. It’s way cheaper to just keep a couple of gallons of distilled water on hand.

@@pattgsm This is so inconvenient though. Kind of a turn off for me with this steamer. Who wants to buy separate distilled water just to steam something? It is hard to imagine that it is cheaper to buy a gallon of distilled water every time you want to use it.
