Hi. I saw a lot of garden feeding/hosting videos of small wild animals, especially wild hedgehogs. The problem usually is the same: a garden owner starts to feed them and/or build a small house for them. A hedgehog coming from the forest and eats or moves in. The problem started when another hedgehog recognizes it, and the poor small creatures start to bother each other, sometimes sparkes physical aggression as well. Wild hedgehogs are not group animals, avoid each other territoties. What is the solution? The basic solution is to avoid feeding or hosting wild animals in a household or garden. If a resque is needed, that is another case. But never accustom any wild animal to a human life sphere. But if you don't want to release this idea, in this situation, build 2 hedgehog houses and put them in big distance from each other.
In the UK hedgehogs are critically endangered. We are many miles from a forest here. We are encouraged to make access available to hedgehogs in our gardens and linking them via hedgehog highways. We have destroyed their natural habitat and they need our help to survive. The hedgehog rescues constantly see starving hedgehogs so we are encouraged to feed them in our gardens. For more info see here hedgehogcabin.info Our gardens tend to be small so putting great distance between their houses is impossible.I have 3 houses in my garden and they are all occupied at the moment.
