    Hi David! Thank you so much for your earlier advice. I am having an issue with my variable speed pump. It will work fine when it is on high. But when it is on low it cuts the power to the pump off after a little while. I am wondering if it is a flow switch issue? I have the timer set to switch to low speed for a few hours in the day and for the last couple of days each time it has done that it cuts off the power. I noticed the water flowing over from the spa looks less than usual when it does run for a bit. But again everything runs very well on high. I just ran it all night last night because we had freezing temperatures again. Do you have any idea what could be causing it to shut off at the low speed? Thank you so much for your help!

      I would call the pump brand manufacturer to see if this is a known issue. I haven't seen this before.

    I've got a pentair filtration system - can I use a Jandy pump with it? My pool is around 25,000 gallons which Jandy VS would you go with?

      Yes. These will work with any filter type.

    Hello, I recently purchased a new pool pump replace my older pool pump which recently failed. I hope you might help provide information on programing the pump configuration, it's a pump from Advantage Manufacturing here in Santa Ana, CA. A variable pump that I can't program, hoping perhaps you might even refer me to someone local to assist in the programing part of this install, it's installed already I just need help programing it.
    I'm located here in Chino, Ca.
    Thank you

    Hey! I got a Hayward MaxFlo VS 500 (240v) and a pool of 20k gals. Can you help me with my max rpm and runtime?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For that pool size I would run it at 1800 RPM for 12 hours which is roughly 130 watts per hour and then 6 hours at 2400-2600 RPM and see if that is enough to keep the pool looking good and the chlorine level up. If not increase the high speed run time a bit.

      Will try, thanks!

    Does VSP work well if I have a roof top solar water heater panels? Afraid if the pump has to run at its full speed to be able to pump enough water to roof top.

    • @SPL
      @SPL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, they work very well with solar on the roof. You can run it at 2600 RPM and pump a sufficient amount of water through the system. I have 2 on my route connected to solar panels and they work great.

    Which variable speed pump are you recommending nowadays

    • @SPL

      All three manufacturers make really good VS pumps. I like the fact that if you have a stand-alone pump both Jandy and Hayward allow you to control it from your phone with an App. 👍

      Thanks what do you mean by what do you mean by standalone pump I would be replacing a single stage pump that powers my pool which today to be honest I don’t mess with much time in lies

      Yes, that is what I mean by a stand-alone pump.

    Ok so here’s my question and it seems no one can give me a straight answer. I have a ten thousand gallon pool with a variable speed pump, if this was you what would a daily schedule look like as far as programming Rpm and and Run times?? Ty

      I am no expert but run times depends on weather/season. In summer I run my pump about 7-8 hrs total a day and in winter about 4 hrs a day. I have 13000 gallon pool. Don't know what my RPMs are

    • @SPL
      @SPL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The best way to set it is with a Flow Meter. I like The FlowVis Flow Meter. That way you can set a precise run time. Your pool is pretty small so I would guess 1400 RPM for 5-6 hours and 2100 RPM for 1-2 hours to get one cycle each day. I like the higher RPM for a little each day to get the surface skimmed.

      Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To -MrDgvb1 but doesn’t the pump need to run at least 3000 rpm’s to move the skimmer around?

    • @SPL
      @SPL  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not usually. At 2100 RMP to 2400 RPM there should be enough flow to skim debris off the surface. If it seems not to be effective you can raise it to 2600 RPM but I rarely go over that speed in a VS pump, otherwise you defeat the energy savings. If you need to speed the surface skimming up try the SkimDoctor 2.0. It is around $40 and it really increases the surface flow.

      Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To -MrDgvb1 my bad I didn’t mean to say Skimmer I meant to say my Pool Sweeper.... do you think 2400 Rpm will still move the Sweep around the pool? Thanks for ur help 👌🏽

    I got a new pool built about 8 mo ago. I do believe I have variable speed pump but I am not sure. How do I confirm it ?

    • @davidgarza77
      @davidgarza77 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mota Pappa if u can adjust the rpm on ur pump then u have a variable speed pump

      Also look on the label. there should be a VS somewhere printed on it. VS stands for Variable Speed Pump.

    What a major difference in installing a variable speed pump not only did I notice a big change in my bill but how quiet they are amazing.

    • @SPL

      Yes, how quite it is now in your backyard is pretty amazing. Now for a variable speed air conditioner and it will be silence all Summer long in the backyard. 👍
