Anyone watching this video, please note, the Evap Solenoid is supposed to make this clicking sound at idle. That is normal as it is using the vapours captured in the charcoal canister and recycling it through the combustion cycle. These only need changing when you have troubles starting your car after you have refilled the petrol tank. Failure is caused through trickle filling the petrol tank. Never over fill the tank. These solenoids are supposed to make a clicking sound when operating.

I'm going to replace mine soon, so this video was very handy. I never noticed any ticking in mine, but the ECM keeps throwing the P0443 Power Train error, so I'll start with the purge valve...only cause I'm no good at electrical.

Update : I followed the first and second methods to separate the connectors, which worked well. But the third connector I discovered an easier way; the rippled tabs on the side are actually used for pulling back the internal lock. You can use your flat head to force slide back the tab which allows the internal mechanism to expand and the valve tubing to pass back out.

This part is shaking on my commodore. It’s definitely the issue. Did you replace yours at all and did it stop ticking?

Second one was good, I had no problems and the ticking stopped also, the fuel consumption was also better, crazy how something so small can do so much

Unfortunately mine still ticks. I think it's cause I got it second hand. Would have to buy a new one but not in the mood to fork out 100 just yet lol

I have been trying to figure out the ticking for years. I finally felt this part shaking and it went quite when i wrapped my hand around it. This video is what i was looking for. Did you end up stopping the ticking with a new solenoid??

I can't seem to find a new one that's for sale which is a pain in the arse. Mine ticks and has a rough idle, although my fuel economy is excellent, it doesn't throw codes and engine runs like an absolute clock.

Try and find one at your local wreckers, if they are selling it for cheap buy it, if not browse somewhere else , something so small can cause a rough idle
