Next to the outline of the person, there is also an outline of a cat, meaning that the cat had the same fate as nenna in that ending. I actually think that Mychael keeps us from dying tbh and that's also a reason why he doesn't want to let us go. Because in the ending peaceful slumber you can see both the cat and the body (ofc yours) meaning the mushrooms killed both Waffles and you. So I have a theory that Mychael is keeping you from dying completely. And that the purple text is death itself that's tricking you so you want to return to where you belong. Home. But in reality where you to return to being where you truly belong. Death.
And to think both the players and mycheal's problems could have been solved easily by the player getting the option to say "We can just visit each other if you don't want me to leave, if you show me the way to my home, i can just come back or you can visit me once you memorize the way to my house.😄😌" the other endings made me literally cry! T^T 😭

I imagine that because you're so insistent in that ending, he'd feel bad for keeping you since you have no real connection (yet). And supposedly, you like him. So when you flip out and try to run away he gets scared because he needs you. He needs companionship. And clearly, you, sweet, lovely you, already care for him. So why would you want to leave? If you just knew from the beginning what he looked like and everything else in between then surely you'd stay. And you did. All Mycheal wants is a friend, and if it means pretending, or making sure you're safe, he'll do whatever he deems necessary. (Evidenced by him bringing the crossbow on your "trip home" as well as every event in which he brainwashes you.)

You pick a purple option, you go away from him and back to your "home" (Aka you stop at the mushrooms) And at one of the options at the mean Nenaa ending, every option is purple except for one. The one pink option is the one where you stay with... You guessed it, mushroom tail. And, "This is wrong wrong WRONG! I wasn't meant to be here!" (The forest wanted her to probably die to them, and now that she is safe, the forest is angry) I, ME, MY. All of those are purple to be convincing. YOU, YOUR. Those are pink since mushroom man isn't used to refering to himself while hipnotizing someone's thoughts. YOU feel tired. Not I feel tired. (I am sorry this is a long comment)

Also, to note a theory for the ending Peaceful Slumber I think that when it seems that he's "looking for something" he's searching for any bit of infection on you, but can't seem to find any. And as much as he would love for you to stay due to wanting to protect you as well as his loneliness, he feels that if you aren't in danger he can't keep you. Which is why he's so reluctant.
I imagine that because you're so insistent in that ending, he'd feel bad for keeping you since you have no real connection (yet). But in another ending he completely brainwashes you, not for the sake of protection, but to cure his loneliness. In Playing Pretend you have a moment with him. You spend time with him, he likes you. And supposedly, you like him. So when you flip out and try to run away he gets scared because he needs you. He needs companionship. And clearly, you, sweet, lovely you, already care for him. So why would you want to leave? If you just knew from the beginning what he looked like and everything else in between then surely you'd stay. And you did.
All Mycheal wants is a friend, and if it means pretending, or making sure you're safe, he'll do whatever he deems necessary. (Evidenced by him bringing the crossbow on your "trip home" as well as every event in which he brainwashes you.)
