The Indian economy is headed towards a strong recovery and could grow at more than 11 percent real GDP growth projected by the latest Economic Survey for the year 2021-22, Principal Economic Adviser in the finance ministry Sanjeev Sanyal said at ThePrint's Off the Cuff. Sanyal said the government is committed towards privatisation of state-owned firms and banks. He further delved upon the impact of the reservation policy announced by the Haryana government and said that competitive federalism could see firms moving out of business hubs like Gurgaon.

Even today, 30 years after the fall of the Berlin wall and the Soviet Union East Germany is still poorer compared to the west. Such are the horrid failures of socialism/communism. We must embrace laissez-faire free market capitalism in India. It was only after the 1991 anti-socialist reforms that India's growth picked up. We still have a long way to go

That (what you say) does not mean that a "policy" shouldn't be there. Most of policies fail due to mal-implementation/indifference . It needs "brilliance" in one's chosen field. Economy doesn't improve in the hands of hacks. MM Singh as the top Economist did what the others of his predecessors couldn't do. That is his genius (& we are enjoying the fruits of his work, like none before). PV (the PM) did his job choosing MM Singh & not some Pranab Mukherjea or Arjun Singh. That is his genius. Both did their work very well, with no expectations from any quarter. I don't think this can be replicated again. Most otten than not, commentors can't be implementors, but can give a new twist to an old problem. In implementation, one needs to ride a wild horse without getting thrown; that is manage everyone around. You may be good in policy but need a backbone to push it through. That MM Singh alcked later. He was doing his work unhindered as long as PV (who is not an Economist) protected him well. Modi can tame any wild horse, but seems to be lacking in choosing which way to go (direction). His school has equipped him with the knowledge but can't take him along, in every step - both will fumble & fall.
In India we atre inured of chronic poverty from ages. So, we never demand. Because we don't demand, the governance team will not take note of us. So it goes. This is the dilemma.

One of the rights of the tax payer is ‘non harassment’. This government uses its power to harass as it chooses and often selectively.

Last week I was entering banglore in by car, all of a sunden two traffic constables stopped by car and told I as driving at 80kmph but the limit was 60kmph. They asked me to look at a photo which showed my car , but the speed was show on screen as 80kmph. The police men told I should pay 1000 as per law for over speeding. As I was preparing to pay the amount , another police man approached me in mild voice told , pls pay 500 , if you pay 1000 in addition to the amount your license will be cancelled for 6 months. But no bills. But stood my ground and paid 1000 , got the bill. A blind law which can't be implemented with satistfcaion and cleanly. One law which I can relate to laws been spoken by principle economic adviser.

API - Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients. They fumbled a bit on that part. Privatisation is good as long as it does not lead to crony capitalism or huge monopolies. The reason the Indian IT sector is doing so well is because it is such a vibrant sector with so many large, mid-cap, small and start-ups attempting to make a mark and create world class products. The 5 trillion dollar economy is important but more important is an equitable growth where more of our fellow citizens enjoy the benefits of growth. That would entail spending on healthcare and education which unfortunately does not get as much attention or budget as physical infrastructure. After all, having a large working age population without the necessary skills would lead to a demographic disaster.

So this is India’s first shift to the economic right. And I am so happy that the comments are mostly positive.
We need social secularism and social liberalism but economic deregulation, sort of like Michael Shermer’s socially left and economically right and YES that is classic liberalism. This is very possible on the federal level, BUT even BJP’s state leaders can never follow this. They have the strong instincts to ban stuff.
