    I have this pot stand and it's the simplest pot stand you'll get and you just need any alcohol burner and you're set! Ridiculously light and almost zero weight and it can even fit into your shirt pocket...it's full titanium and one of the best pot stands you can get. I usually buy anything Chinese made but this pot stand is the exception and I'm glad that the Chinese made this!

      I have the same ‘stand’ but bought it advertised as a wind shield and never thought to add the cross bars to make it a full pot stand. Time to dig out some of the wife’s skewers.

      I've seen people using metal brick ties as the supports, which work. Mine are the pegs you get at each end of the fold out windshields, with the end bent over to act as a stopper. I had an old battered windbreak so did a bit of upcycling!

      @@SussexOutdoors was it a homemade pattie? Can't beat em 🤤
      I'm reading the comments, what stand was used? I'll watch it again 😆 never mind just read the vid description 🤣🤣

    • @SussexOutdoors
      @SussexOutdoors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @janestim79 it was definitely a homemade pattie... Others have also asked that, so there will be a video soon with the recipe (oh shucks, I'll have to cook and eat another burger! 🤣)... The stand I was using in this video was the Lixada titanium pot stand, with the @descattys alcohol burner (holds a nice lot of fuel for long cooks, not just boiling). I've since upgraded to an X-boil șpring-stainless steel stand, but it does exactly the same job as the Lixada one does.
      So, my question to you for the recipe video... What should go with the burger? (I've done blue cheese and bacon twice now, and always up for suggestions for different flavours to bung in there!
      Cheers, James 🙏 💚

      how about smoked cheese, beer soaked caramelised onions (a good nutty dark ale) and chilli jam! Plus chorizo if you wanna get really decadent 😆
      I'll look forward to your burger recipe to make with my lad when we get out.
      I've just been checking out the lixada range. Some good stuff there. I'm also going to look at getting a descattys alcohol burner to go with. I've got a trangia and various other burners but fancy branching out a bit and lighter the better!
      All the best, keep up the great work!

      @janestim79 now that sounds like a cracking idea! I have chilli jam and smoked cheese in the fridge, just need to get some chorizo! That's now going in the book for next video! 🙏 💚

    OK so you won the bet - the biggest burger in town! Mouth watered watching you eat it.

    • @SussexOutdoors
      @SussexOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My mouth was watering while I was editing the video! Those are home made, 15% fat beef mince, with salt, pepper and dried sage & parsley mixed in, then an extra dusting of salt & pepper once formed into patties. I made 4 of these from a 750g pack of mince, (froze the rest) so they're just shy of ½lb each!

    That was a very organised cup there sir! I just realised my cup was in my bag empty taking up space on last night's camp 😂 and I moaned about having trouble fitting everything in my bag 😂 lesson learnt 👌
    Banging burger 👌🍔

    • @SussexOutdoors
      @SussexOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was using the litre Nalgene bottles to carry water, so the cup used to nestle inside one of them, with the lid underneath... I've since realised that if I take water in 500ml bottles (currently recycled Ribena bottles), I can fit more in my pack, as I don't end up with so much dead space around them... That's when I looked at my kit and wondered how much of the small stuff I could Tetris-ify into my mug... It's still a fun puzzle every time! 💚🙏

    I can't stand arugula /rocket
    But it's very good for you.
    Does the heat calm down the taste like cooking celery. I can't eat raw celery without it repeating on me.
    Good looking burger

      To be fair, if you don't like Rocket, the heat of the burger doesn't take the taste away (almost like a mild mustard-y flavour)... Each to our own, as we're all different! 👍🏻

    Great video, thanks! The thin metal rods with the orange paracord you use to rest the pot on at the beginning of the video, do you have a link to those please?

    • @SussexOutdoors
      @SussexOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Those are actually the end stakes for a cheap folding windshield I bought from ebay to trim down in height to work with my remote canister stove. (the shield works perfectly fine without them!). The orange cord was microcord guy line I added later after spending half an hour searching for one of them as I'd dropped it in the grass! 🙏💚

    Lovely relaxing video. Can I ask what the small table you were using is ? I have something similar but it’s got a solid top and seeing yours with the holes in the table top makes me think it’s likely to be a lot lighter. Also is your ground sheet/mat a cut down military surplus one ?
    Keep up the great videos - you now have a new subscriber

    • @SussexOutdoors
      @SussexOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the sub, and glad you're enjoying the videos!
      The little table I use used to have a solid top (a cheap ebay purchase), but I'd been seeing another table others had been using from a different company, which was a lot lighter, but a lot more expensive (about £60 if I remember!), so I created a template for the hole positions, and spent a week of evenings drilling these out! So it's a bit of a home grown, one of a kind thing now, but I did manage to shave a good 200g off of the original weight, so I think the work was worth it!
      The groundsheet in this video is actually a German Army groundsheet.. Another eBay purchase at the time, but I think Military Mart may still do them.
      Cheers, James
