Well it was Season 4 so there is more of the unrealistically cartoony distortions/physics/logic in a bunch of these (especially in Homer's Triple Bypass being the most prominent). They took it down in S5 then pretty much just stuck to minor cartoon stretches and positions around S6 and completely got rid of most of it after S7. In my opinion I think S5 was the perfect balance of the cartoony/logical style the show had. I mean S4 I still do enjoy how great some of these scenes are but the problem is that there were too many of them, since they were coming off of Klasky-Csupo's studio to Film Roman at the time.
@@bombabombom3603 Season 5 makes the designs more 'cartoony' but trades that for a ton of Season 4's wacky movements. I've always loved how they have the characters really big eyes in Season 5, it just adds to the humor of a lot of their expressions. imo I think Seasons 2-5 had the best animations, 7 and 8 probably have the best standalone episodes/moments, especially in animation they got real experimental there.
And the joke makes perfect sense without the cut-away and the cut-away offers nothing that the audience wasn't already imagining. Maybe have someone pop into frame at the end to explain the joke a second time
@@user-lv6mu8er9z It's hard to tell if we were explaining the process of a Family Guy joke or the last thing you see before rectal cancer takes your life. I guess the difference is that the Conway Twitty intermission isn't playing when I'm dying.
Actually he, or more accurately the team that makes FG or at least the ones that did over ten years ago when you idiots clearly stopped watching, only ever pulled out an overlong joke or music video as payback to the studio or network that demanded they cut or change content, by using Conway Twitty they forced them to pay royalties to his estate.
If Seth MacFarlane wrote this joke, it would go something like this: Peter: "Hey Lois, remember when we saw that sure footed goat on a snowy mountain?" Cut to 10 uninterrupted minutes of a goat slipping and falling down a mountain
That style of animation with the goat falling was so foreign to The Simpsons, but it fit the scene perfectly
This whole episode itself felt very foreign to me.. I can't explain it but it definitely feels pretty off whenever I watch it 😅
yeah this was very early in the series and they were still experimenting, they did not yet have the big book of animation rules.
As foreign as Mr. Plow's new angsty-artsy commercial? 😂
I think this is the first and only time The Simpsons used that spinning leg animation.

I thought something looked off.
I wasn't even sure this was actually from a Simpsons episode of that point
I feel like I have seen them use the animation again but don't remember when
@@bombabombom3603 Interestingly enough, despite the animation, s4 is definitely more "grounded" than s5.
Seth McFarlane saw this scene and was like, imagine if all jokes were like this
and were extended for 5 minutes every episode.

The little weak bleat at the end KILLS me.
Gotta love Maggie in her star snowsuit.
It always makes me giggle whenever I see her in her Patrick Star cosplay.
I love how the goat goes from chilling to slipping sideways with no transition or reason. That's visual comedy at its best!
Still cracks me up decades later
0:05 I love that 😳 on the goat's face.
I love the panic at 0:07 and fun circly legs
0:11
I love seeing the kicking leg-wheels he does. oh wat I already commented this 8 mnths ago
As Calvin once said, I'd say that crossed the line from ironic coincidence to evil omen.
The goats fall parallels nicely with Homer's failed jump over Springfield Gorge.
The spinny leg animation is gold😅 👌
You can hear this goat is voiced by Dan Castellaneta (doing his Louie the Mafia Guy voice)
The way that goat was animated looks like it came from a completely different series.
That final weak bleat was the capper on the whole bit.
This scene killed me! 🤣🤣
I love that it’s Dan doing the goats sound effects !
Mountain goats are known to sometimes lose their footing or miscalculate jumps and fall to their deaths.
Also get knocked off balance by birds of prey who wait for them to hit the ground and then settle in for a buffet.
Nature isn't pretty
Sure, but you can't deny they're incredibly sure-footed the vast majority of the time.
R.i.p that mountain ⛰️ goat 🐐.
RIP mountain 🏔️ goat 🐐
Poor Mountain Goat ☹️ 🐐
It still made a sound at the end. Might not have died.
Why the emojis?
What made homer look scared at the mountain goat at first as it was t falling down the mountain yet
If Seth MacFarlane wrote this joke, it would go something like this:
Peter: "Hey Lois, remember when we saw that sure footed goat on a snowy mountain?"
Cut to 10 uninterrupted minutes of a goat slipping and falling down a mountain
Something about this joke doesn't feel very Simpson-y
I think it's the animation of the goat
The most Family Guy joke of the old seasons.
I feel like this is a parody/homage to when Homer tried to jump over the cliff and fell down repeatedly.
Ironically this was just a regular goat released onto a mountain.
In no way is that irony
The goat's fall is on a par with Homer's failed attempt to jump Springfield Gorge.
The way the goat (when panicking) is depicted is very reminiscent of Gilbert "Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers" Shelton.
You were saying, Homer?
Awww you cut out the best bit:
"Surefooted-er..."
This is false advertising. If you see a mountain goat climb, you'll wonder if you stumbled into the Matrix and they're clipping up a vertical wall.
This is why Mountain goats shouldn't climb mountains
"Not that one."
I give the thx 2 the evolution that the mountain goats in the reallity can go safety.
I surprised it was still alive by that last fall
How did the goat slip off the mountain anyways he was just sniffing the ground at first then he started slipping off the mountain top
Gotta speed, kee-💥
Gotta buzz, cu-💥
Gotta g-💥
*_GOAT_* x0⃣
Well, maybe not THAT mountain goat.
What episode is this
Season 4 Episode 9 : Mr. .Plow
If you don't recognize the jacket, you're very new to this show.
Cabrá gracias
Whoever wrote this joke has probably never seen a mountain goat. The shit they can do is pretty insane.
Eso debió doler
He ain't pretty no more!
-Moe
The next mountain that goat tries to climb better have a wheelchair ramp.
