Just found your channel. A voice that doesn't yet exist in the world of IEM youtubers. Your delivery style reminds me of old-school consumer reportage that used to be a semi-normal part of news coverage. I dig it.
Please continue your reviews I love your voice and descriptive language so so much and your technical analysis is spot on…you make the most perfect reviews of anyone I watch 😊 GOD Bless
Another enjoyable review, with the technology bits weaved in rather neatly and appropriately. Stephen, hope you don't mind, but I have sent a mail to Penon to request them to send their IEMs to you - have linked your Fan2 review. I had bought from them directly and they had sent a mail politely requesting me to drop my impressions online somewhere. So, i have just replied to them your link and asking them to check out and consider sending stuff to you for reviews. Not that an unknown user like me is going to sway them, but thought it can't hurt. Else, you are getting too greedy Stephen and going to keep burning too much money on this hobby :-) Just kidding, love your work.
@@StephenIngrahamCheers! And a song/album recco. Nala Sinephro's 'Space 1.8'. Start with the song 'space 6 ' there and if you like, hear the rest. Excellent recording.
This is the second video I saw from you and It's probably safe to say that you are the best IEM reviewer on youtube. The detail when talking about eartips is something needed in reviews when the particular iem being reviewed is picky about tips. I myself go nuts with eartips as well and truly appreciate your detail when talking about all these details including instrument naturalness in specific music etc. 2 Thumbs Up!!
I’ve had the MagicOne for a couple of weeks now and I find your review to be 100% spot on. Pretty amazing what Aful has been able to accomplish with one little BA.
Spot on with your review and thanks for doing one, Stephen. It took a bit for me since I changed cables in my equipment (DAC > Headphone Amp) while giving the MagicOne its christening and I also believe in burn in of cables (not necessarily the BA, but that's another debate maybe). At first, it sounded "okay" to me and I was actually met with some one-note performance presentations on very busy tracks. After ~100 hours, and demagnetizing my audio signal path (again, another debate among some audiophiles), it sounded ripe and ready...producing exactly what you mention in your review. I know some have likened this to Timmy's Galileo, which I do hear, but I think that on some tracks and with enough volume fed to the BA to make it really sing, that the mids and highs are more pronounced and have more air. I also see this on its squig, to some degree, so its one of those I hear it and see it graphed as well scenarios. I am currently using the Spinfit CP145's on mine which let me insert it deep into my ear canal with a good seal but I might try the Dunu S&S as well to test out how it sounds in comparison. The one issue I have since it is not a vented IEM, is that it does make it uncomfortable for me to wear for longer than a couple of hours. Again, others mileage might vary since everyone tolerates this differently. Still though, a marvelous and positive technological feat and one which I am happy to add to my collection to enjoy my music with! 🎶
Thanks for the detailed response. In further listening this morning I have petty much settled on the TRI Clarions for sound over the S&S. Slightly more expansive and special :) However the S&S are more comfortable.
What is "demagnetizing my audio signal path" - Is that the description of 'burn-in' of the IEM? or going by the context of your usage, the cables, am guessing.
@@Crashboomwallop I want to be cautious of starting a massive debate on Stephen's post here but the demagnetizing sweep tone that I have used for about two decades now came as a test tone track, along with a "burn-in" pink noise track, on the AudioSource LLC5 sound utility CD that I own (and have made digital). The demagnetizing sweep tone track plays a sinewave tone that sweeps gradually from low to high (20hz to 20khz) and is supposed to demagnetize any magnetic buildup in components and copper wiring (and maybe even other types) after many hours of use. Again, a lot of this to a lot of folks will seem like audio industry "snake oil" but to my ears, I do hear a difference after playing the track. I find that it somehow removes bass bloat/smear in my audio signal path. To give an example of what I mean, it's like applying a filter going from a warmish, thick audio sound signature to a neutral one. This is then done again after about 100+ hours of music being played to "reset" things again. Again, ymmv and this is just how I perceive it and what I have done out of habit. I will leave it at that. If you want, there are a lot of "heated" discussions on the topic from either side (believers and non-believers) on the web that you can search and read into those comments. I just wanted to respond since you asked and also to add my two cents in on what I hear, which I think is a necessary statement to include when talking about new things with others. As an end note, just keep enjoying the music and neat gear if anything...
@@infiniteuniverse805 thanks for the detailed response. I remember these demagnetisers floating around in the 80s..TDK brand (in my country) iirc for the tape cassette decks. Interesting.
I had to get out my Galileos after your mention of them. To my ears, not even close! The bass on the MagicOne is both deeper and more “solid”. The Galileo might be as loud but it is mushy by comparison. Mids are much clearer and cleaner on the MagicOne and the treble is smoother and stronger. And the sense of space is just way better on the MagicOnes. I like the natural sound of the Galileo, its strong point as far as I am concerned, but the MagicOne sounds to me to be even more natural, and a lot more fun :) They might graph similarly but they certainly do not sound the same.

Not yet! Though I have done a couple of video recommending music for iems.
agree, on small bore it sounds flat but on wide bore tips it was much clearer. by the way do you have a dac under $150 to recommend for iems ?
There are so many inexpensive dacs now…all using the new Cirrus Logic chips. You practically can not go wrong.
Great video as usual stephen! It seems like Aful did quite a good job here 🙂
Absolutely
Wow just saw you pick this as your iem for life at Gizaudio. Didn't realise you were so enamoured with this. Must be bloody good!
It really is! But only if you get the insertion and tips right! :)
