- During the 2012 Workers Reunion being held at the Workshops Rail Museum, steam locomotives BB18 ¼'s 1079 and 1089 as well as English Electric 1620 made several runs for the public up and down the yard at North Ipswich.

I did my apprentiship as a Fitter here starting in 1957. A wonderful place that provided the best training I've seen my intire career. All the tradesmen were craftsmen who went out of their way to pass on their skills. It makes me cry to see what's left of this great workshop
My grandfather started as an apprentice fitter there in 1899, at the grand wage of 1 shilling per day.
@ Colhad, on the ATRQ website there are some Diesels, including the ones you mentioned, being offered for sale to heritage/tourist railways for $1, less transport costs.
Why did they only use the BB18 engines for this event
974 and 221A were under repair at the time.
Note the 1150 and the 1400 there, would like to see them restored to their former glory. We can only live in hope I'm afraid.
