- Its been playing on my mind for awhile ever since south shields was finished. Tyne Dock is well over due to ripped up and re-built.....
The last train will not be the Final Train....Enjoy.

@@TONYNORTHEASTERNMy own wife has been burning her way through Midsomer, again. They're kooky and a little dark on occasion. Not like serious later Poirot or lighthearted early Poirot episodes. Came here for the "he's Belgian" comment. I thoroughly enjoyed the little drama between Mr. Eastern and Sid. Glad all's well that will hopefully end well - can't wait to see the new construction begin!

Cheer's Rick. last time i seen Sid he was down at the Saracens head with the bill and billy the window cleaner. but i do know Sid will be off to Blackpool for a couple of weeks while i look after his dog. as if i have enough to do with designing and building the station for him. i can imagine him lying back on a deck on those golden sands with a knotted hanky chief on his head to protect against the sun. Life is easy when your a station master...take care Tony.

Hi Tony, nice to see a new project about to start on the layout. I hope the staff don't mind too much working elsewhere. Good morning Dave. I think you know better than that my friend to build new modern image buildings. Its the original Tyne Dock station i am hoping to recreate. which means a whole new track plan. so its back to the bare baseboard. Tyne Dock was built 2 years before south shields was build in1856. its going to be a struggle. due to the lack of photos. but i know it will be 100% better than the metcalfe kits that we had as the station. but they did serve a purpose for eight years. it was a mistake which i am now going to correct. A sad end to Tyne Dock Station for the passengers and staff, but I'm sure Mr Eastern will build them something very special to replace the old one. Look forward to seeing you're plans being revealed.
Good morning Steve. there has been a slight delay so far this weeks video will come out next Friday. But i can tell you the station re-vamp has started, the buildings and platforms have gone. and the new trackwork is being laid. it does look totally different now as you will see. Well it's the end of an era, Tony, and I for one can't wait to see what you come up with! I've got to agree with you, however, Tyne Dock just doesn't compare with the likes of Jarrow Road and South Shields! Best of luck with the redevelopment...

I have only myself to blame for this redevelopment Ken. i fell into the trap of buy and plonk when i first started to build my layout. but now i am more confident with my scratch building. i have to do this before moving onto my other station little haven. but your right. south shields and Jarrow road have spurred me on. cheer's for now Tony. .
I feel sorry for Sid, but I'm sure he's looking forward to his holiday and eventual new station.

Hi Tony, a very entertaining story, only on the North Eastern. Good to see law and order being restored. We see the staff being well looked after (the missus was listening in). No break for the architect and builder however; with a station gestation period of 9 months will it be on schedule for a Christmas opening? You have a two week head start whilst Sid is on holiday! Seen a few photos of the old station, the roof will be a challenge………. is that the reason you have gone for this?

Hello Stephen. the story seemed to be a fitting way to say goodbye to the old station. which was incorrect anyway. the new tyne dock will in keeping with how it should have been. photographs are very rare to find. so hopefully i will get it as close as i can.

What a tear jerker, poor Sid, but you know i think he's going to be a very happy station master in a few months. Good morning Martyn. looks like you know me very well. 8 years ago i had a different attitude towards the model railway. like most people it was buy and plonk and the odd kits. and it funny have we have move on from those times. hence why i have gone down the this drastic road of re-building Tyne Dock as it should have been. photos are very hard to come by. but we know we can achieve something a bit better than what we did have. work on the layout has been slow this week. but the old buildings have been demolish and the new track bed has started. all will be revealed soon. next Friday. many thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now. Dear Tony, darn the ghost of Beeching roaming around at the North Eastern! Awesome episode, love the story. Tyne Dock as it should have been built in the first place? I’m just wondering what that means exactly. The version with the rounded canopy, further in similar style as South Shields, or the version with the middle platform and the station buildings incorporated into the small ‘mansard’ canopy with its flat roof. The last one looks very interesting, where that canopy covers like 2/3ds of the platform length.
Very curious as to what mr. Eastern is going to draw on his architectural drawing table. Either way it must indeed include some serious redoing of the track arrangements. Wouldn’t mind watching another canopy build. However, I humbly think the let’s say ‘Great Central’ version of Tyne Dock is the most interesting one. Great project to look forward to. Very curious for the unfolding creative endeavors mr. Eastern! Cheerio

Tyne Dock was an Island platform. but the station is as individual as they come. photos are very rare. i do have a couple of books on order so i am hoping to find more photos. before i get to drawing stage. which will be i a couple of weeks. so its onwards and upwards. cheer's for now Tony.

Wow, now that was emotional watching! And I love Poirot! Loved how you handled the little 'Frenchman' hehe. So, forgive my lack of knowledge here but I don't have the layout plan in my head. How will that affect the running? Does it mean no more trains for 9 months? Or will you make do with a rail replacement service? hehe. You could get a whole new storyline out of that; two bus company rivals fighting for the contract lol. I'm so looking forwards to you tackling this one mate. @@TONYNORTHEASTERN Good luck I was struggling to make sense of photos of Tyne Dock Shed, then found detail plans in an old magazine! Booklaw are having a clear out on eBay with some books less than half price. I picked up Tyneside electrics 1&2 under £5 each and some other NE titles. Will have a look through and see if I can find any of the station.
I do have a book coming, so hopefully there will be the odd photo in there. every little bit of information. helps.

Tony I noticed that the multi unit was an old EMU which looked out of place since it was operating over tracks without the third rail. I assume that is one of the things that you will fixing in the remodeling.

Hello Jason. If Mr Poirot did invent Pyro cable he would have been a very clever man indeed. did you know that the cable inside pyro is filled with magnesium. which can withstand temperatures up 500 degrees. that is why they use it for fire alarms in hospitals etc. clever stuff. i have been doing my homework on Tyne Dock station there is not a lot out there photo wise. but i did find a map with the old station on it. which clearly shows any island platform. and with a few odd photos i may be able to put something together...take care for now Tony.

Amazed. There’s a whole are not touched, a station which I partially named with basic platforms, an EMU running around with no third rail (except at South Shields) and you’re redoing stuff that’s already done. I don’t get the logic. Oh and if any station needs sorting it’s Newhassle, a nice closeup of its infamous floating column in this vid, people come from all around the world to see that. 😂
I agree Newhassle does need it more. but that will a huge undertaking. and it take a couple of years. one good thing though the trackwork is done. and the main building may stay after a bit of tinkering. thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony.
I’m gutted, Tyne Dock was my favourite station on the layout, it’s a sad day for TNE. On a brighter note Tone, I hope Mrs T is feeling much better, take care.
We are relieved that Tyne Dock will live to see another day, all be it in a new form. You say there are few photos of the actual station. I know you will use what ever resources you have for this build. I expect great things at Tyne Dock in the spirit of South Shields and Jarrow Road. Remember you can always use modellers licence. You used that putting a upper floor at Jarrow Road. Bill & Janet from California
