Hiya Tony, another great scene added to the North Eastern. Looks very photo typical of the type of scene back in the day. Well done again my friend, great watch..👏🏻👏🏻.. Not as Coby soo about the PC but Pitkin sounds good anyway…All the best mate, Chris n Jules
Tony Been subscribed for a few years can remember when you 1st built the Diesel Depot. Those Large Kibri Town Buildings can be made to look more English so you can Anglicise some Features, or even tone down some of the colours to more muted colours between stonework or rendering and trim. You also might be able to alter some to shop using more English looking shop features from kit parts card etc. But also having English Signs and lettering fonts will alter the look. You might be able to alter side or back walls to brick or stone. Chimneys are also something else that could be very regional so English looking ones with tall pots might alter the look as well. I know Michael at Chandwell has mentioned an area near the Bradford City Centre called Little Germany. I know you use a lot of photographic evidence so what did the larger buildings in South Tyneside look like were there common features or South Shield been a Seaside Town were there lots of bright colours on adverts and shop fronts especially for Seaside style things like Food or Amusements. Just some ideas to think about to keep the overall feel of a up to the late 1960’s. After all your modelling an era before Mass Mediterranean Holidays. Ian
Hi Ian, congratulations for staying with us for over six years. The depot came about because or the growing number of diesel locomotives i was accruing. The old south shields building are quite awn ate in appearance and very decorative not like the modern blocks that have replaced many of the old building from the 1800s. but yes the Kebri buildings will look a treat once i tinker with them. many thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony.
Tony once again I am in awe of the way you create these scenes, the placement of the buildings adjacent to the bridge piers and high level bridge , together with the steps climbing up to the station on the other side of the road reminds me very much of Dean street/Side Newcastle upon Tyne. Indeed the Kiri building wont need that much work as they already have the feel of the stone Victorian grand found in that particular area. I have been amused by Mickey Barrass's comparison of Reg Prescott and yourself with blades and chisels aplenty !!, if I may suggest, I find an reciprocating multi tool with suitable blade can aid with demolition with surprising surgeon precision. all the best pal
Very true Liam. sounds like we are on the same wave length judging by your comment. I do hope i can make the rest of the street look just as good as the first building being place. thanks again for your comments. until next time have a great weekend. cheer's for now Tony.
Totally agree Colin, the scene has come out better i had expected. especially as there was no scratch buildings in sight. Maybe by the 1970s they would have converted the back yard of the pub into a beer garden. thank you for commenting, interesting thoughts. cheer's Tony.
Hi Tony, lot’s of work done there on the re-vamp this week. Those paving slabs must have been a labour of love, there’s loads of them! As usual though plenty of detail even done to the South Shield football badge the lady on the crossing was wearing! I’m looking forward to you making the buildings more British actually, even though it might be a while yet. I have a Kibri station building for Exehaven Harbour that needs anglicising, I’d be interested to see your take on it. Anyway have a great week, chat soon, cheers, John
Hi John. i did a video years back when i did the newhassle station as that was a faller kit. all i did was remove all those European chimney stacks and replaced them with brick ones. and repainted it. to make more in keeping woth what you would find here. great to had doing these upgrades. cheer's for now. Tony...
Ah another fine video Mr Tony. That looks really good. Mind you, I must admit, I feared for your fingers, with that Chisel and Stanley knife. I feared the next edit, you'd be like the Kenny Everret character, Reg Prescott (one for the teenager's to google) with bandages, all over your hands. Just goes to show, your stuffs built to last. Bet theres a few from the Diesel shed nip over for a ploughmans lunch too. Really enjoyed watching that, Thank you for sharing.
Hi Micky. No worries i was very careful and watching every movement of the blade. I love to reference to good old Kenny Everett. i must admit the pub is handy for the fitters & drivers after their shifts. thanks my friend for commenting. cheer's for now. Tony.
Nice work to Tony. The pub looks right at home there, it really does fit in there nicely, and creates a great scene. Did you catch my grandson's Dylington Rocks video, loud rock music, flashing lights and a few trains... Cheers James 🙂👍
Hello James. thank you for stopping by. its all about atmosphere, when creating the scenes that we do on our railways. i will check in. cheer's for now my friend. Tony.
Morning Tony, what a great location for Birch Hall Inn, it does look like it's always been there. What a change to the area, really like the little cameo of the crossing. It's touches like this that brings a scene to life. That was a bit of work to lift the cobbles but you've made a good job. More room there than it looks at first. I'm very behind this weekend, we've been to Sherborne in Dorset, my nephew who's in the Army, got engaged and they had a party for family and friends. It was lovely. So glad to hear Laura is doing well now it's been a worrying time for you all., please pass on our love, I see you've got another video out so I'm go to catch up with that, Eddy and Anne xxx ps. I think the PC Pitkins was called PC Ventress, I'm probably to late for that one now. Xx
Good evening Eddy. i think this was a site to put the Birch into. and as you have said it looks like its always been there. Thank for your well wishes. and I have passed them. and Laura says thank you. As for PC Pitkin i am afraid thet the name is wrong. all will be revealed on Sunday. thanks again for commenting. stay safe and look after one and other. best wishes Tony & Laura.
Hi Tony! If only moving house was so easy in real life! :) I wasn't following you when you did the original build with the cobblestones, so it was interesting to see how you'd underpinned them with lollipop sticks! My plan with Shelfington, if I ever get onto actually adding buildings, is not to glue them down, but rather utilise magnets and small metal plates to fix them in place! That way I should be able to move them around more easily if and when required! Always a pleasure to see how you work Tony! All the best, Ian.
Hi Ian, the lolly pop stick were used to get the height to meet the top of rails. seems an age since our last video. i am spending so much time like yourself going out and about. although i am not moving house. as it would be very time consuming to re-build the north eastern layout again. cheer's for now my friend. Tony.
Glad you enjoyed the make over Phil. its been crying out to be done for a long time. and the pub looks as if its been there forever. many thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony.
That junction is very convincing Tony. Foolery PC.Pitkin had the unfortunate fall, no lasting injuries, except to his dignity! I really like the position of the pub nestling beside the railway. I enjoyed the video. Take care. Best wishes. Peter.
It looked like an angel in the street there where somebody chalked it on the street. Angelic gangs running around your layout? 😂😂. Wow, the scenic arrangement looks great. You’ve done a quick job of it. It is happenin’. 😊. Looks brilliant, Tony. Nice touch on the badge. Rob
Hello Rob. Interesting thoughts about the graffiti on the roads. i was tinkering around with ideas to see what looked best. a roundabout of T junction. but i think i have made the right decision and kept the T junction. that's the fun with model railways. as with your new feature the Bridge. thanks again my friend. cheer's Tony.
Hi Tony I know the answer to the quiz because I just watched both episodes on the same day ! plus I cant spell it so good luck to all that enter. wow that looked like hard work removing the cobbles but the result was worth it looks a lot better now !!! Birch Hall Inn Looks like it grew there well I will pop off now Hope that Mrs T is progressing well
Good morning James. If you know the answer, thats ok i am not looking for the correct spelling. as long as it sounds like the answer. i hate to think that you might miss out. i think the hours put in was about 12 for removing the cobbles the paving doing the electrics, a lot of effort but well worth it. and looking after Mrs T. she is mobile now which is great. and recovering quite well thank you for your well wishes. as i will pass them on. many thanks again for commenting. take care my friend. Tony.
Great scenics again, the different views look very realistic, just maybe missing some pedestrians and a drunk coming out the pub? Hope your Hymek survived the attack of the cobbles and lolly sticks ha-ha
Good morning James. it survive the attack of the lolly pop sticks. Only just. i check out some figures to see if you can buy drunks. they definitely would have been a few around especially on a Friday nite. thank you for commenting. all the best Tony.
Dear Sir! I nearly had a fit seeing the chisel so close to the Hymek (@ 8:30)! BTW, i luckily bought a 1967 (1968?) Hornby Class 35, it is beautiful and runs very well. Methinks they are quite rare around here. Cheers from Brazil!
Good morning Eugenio. Steady hands, but yes i did get a bit to close for comfort. i know the yard foreman was keeping a close eye on me. lol. take care. and thanks again for commenting. Tony in cold England.
It still amazes that people do not understand that PVA can be soaked and then when it is softened enough an item can be removed without any damage. I build a boat with PVA and the glue softened and the boat sank. I also use this technique for uplifting track from baseboards.
Hi Brain. very true that does work. but i still have to get through the cobble stones, which were stuck to the lolly pop sticks with UHU glue. i think i had over done it in the first place. strong stuff that UHU. thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony.
Hi Tony, great work i really like the changes the pub looks good in its new location. I really really like the canteen in the loco yard. Take care mate.
Hello Deano. The canteen is a Bachmann resin build. i dont know if you can still get them. and because of the style of the prefab building they could fit into any era model railway. thanks again for commenting cheer's for now Tony....
Hi Ron, I agree. the Chichester arms in south shields has a hatch. thanks for the tip. its certainly something to consider when i return to the street. many thanks for commenting. cheer's for now Tony.
Another fantastic job, Tony always looks the part and fits in nicely with the scenery around there be nice to see more characters on the streets, but brilliant as always, looking forward to the next scene, all the best to you and your family.
Great video --- as always... Been a while since I last visited that Inn ! T-shirt is looking a bit old and tired now... Caught myself a replica at RofS a while back - need to find a suitable spot for it !
Thank you Andy. its what the area needed a new look. the best part is that it looks like its always been there. take care my friend. cheer's for now Tony.
Hi Tony, what a transformation and so much ground covered… quite literally. Couldn’t be better rolling out of the pub straight onto the last bus home! One thing that is missing are the storm drains/ grates, I was wondering if to print or print and score with ball point cf the roof tiles. Anyway great job and the yard looks to be better lit too. All the best Stephen
Good evening Stephen. over past week a lot has changed. down at the 39 steps. other details will be added when i come back to this area. but i have a bigger challenge ahead. a new station is on its way. Roof tiles you have a couple of options. but scribing card does look more realistic. especially when its been painted. many thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony. 👍👍👍👍👍
Great work that displays just how creative you are. It's also a lesson on how just changing one or two features can change the whole appearance of the layout. I'm really looking forward to the revamping of your stations. Thanks a lot.
Good morning Alfie. that's the thing with model railways, you can change and modify areas that you are not happy with. and probably the biggest change in years is about to happen soon. until then my friend. i shall Carry On Messing around on the Railway. cheer's my friend. Tony.
That was very enjoyable. It was almost like you were designing a film set. It's a lovely part of town and getting better, thanks Tony, and hope your wife is doing well. Best wishes Kevin
Thank you very much! Kevin. Mrs T is well on the mend. and recovering very well thank you. That's the thing about model railways. with a bit of care you can changes on the layout. and with a bit of luck it all works out well in the end. many thanks again for commenting, have a great weekend. cheer's Tony
The whole has finally come to life. especially when you think that the 39 steps were built nearly 4 years ago. have a great weekend. and thanks again for commenting. cheer's Tony.
Hi Tony. Wonderful intimate scene you have created and a lovely pub building too. I’m glad you did not put that mini roundabout in , as it would not fit in with the period modelled. Sometimes less is more. You have a propensity to make bullet proof scenics that require a jack hammer and several sticks of dynamite to remove 😝 PVA is good but , like anything else, it’s horses for courses, and adhesives only need to be as strong as needed. Most structures may need lifting in the future, same with trackwork, and for these I recommend a latex adhesive called Copydex. It smells like fish. 😫 It has just enough hold to keep things in place, but being latex based, allows you to remove stuff easily. Great for laying trackwork. Better than ye olde track pins! For layout lighting, running a 12v (or whatever voltage you use) lighting bus around the layout is most helpful, as local lighting just connects to the bus nearby, just like track dropper wires connect to the DCC bus. Maybe late in the day but worth considering. Looking forward to the next one, so see you back there. Best, Jason.
Hi Jason, my friend. i use 12volts with the LEDS. one small transformer can do up 100 lights. i have 3 transformers for various areas of the layout at the moment. which will do plenty. I do like to keep my power supplies separate so there wont be any spikes or power surges. it is a bit late now to change over to Copydex. all useful ideas for anyone starting out with a new layout. thanks again my friend. stay safe. Tony.
Hello Mr rock and roll. the kibri buildings i bought of ebay years ago. they are Ho but the door heights and windows are spot for oo gauge. if your going to get some be careful and stick with the large shops. otherwise you could end up with buildings that have the smaller doors and windows. cheer's for now my friend. Tony.
Good work again Tony, I agree with you on the european buildings, theres plenty of architecture around my port town that isn`t out of place in Holland or Germany. so i`ll be using some older Heljan/Ihc kits to create a varyation in the townscape.
Absolutely Clive. i have bought these Kibri buildings to save time, so i can concentrate on the scratch builds that are more important, and in keeping with the region. thanks again for commenting. cheer's for now Tony.
Looks like PC Pitkin had one too many ales at the Birch Hall Pub. As Roger Nicks heads toward the 39 Steps. Great revamp of a street that needed it. Tony do you have street names for all of your streets in the TNE empire? Bill & Janet from California
Hi Bill & Janet. thank you for another warm welcomed comment. The street names i do have a few on my mind. King Street & Wattling street. which are from south shields. wattling used run around the back of the train station. and King street was and still is the main high street of south shields. but yes at some point i will return to the streets were we lived. but other bigger projects need to be looked at first. closing and re-building one of the stations. all will be re-vealed. until next time take care. all the best from Tony & Laura....
I dare say the Vickars' Wife is inclined to have dealings with the fitters from time to time, given how many different items of washing can be seen flapping in the wind, on the line in the vicarage garden, following a few bacon sandwiches. No doubt Mrs Simms will be seen coming out of the pub after one too many.
Hi Tony popped into the Birch Hall last night to buy you a couple Newkie Broon's my friend but the landlord said you was busy planning the new Tyne Dock Station. Left them behind the bar for you.
Oh, Stop now. Make sure you have an old gate (road width) in the back wall. The old publican would have been excited, being that close to the rail he could have his Beer delivered right to the door (back Door) by rail. The only pub in Town that has beer from all over the British Isles.
Very true George. the only pub on Tyneside that has every beer possible that was available at the time. just wide for a horse and cart. a cellar is planed for when i come back to the streets. thanks again for commenting, that's a big cheer's from me...Tony.
Good morning. the chisel is a multi purpose tool. i do sharpen the chisel now and again, when its required for those tough jobs. thank you for commenting. have a great weekend my friend. cheer's Tony.
IF you get thrown out of one pub it is a short walk around the corner to the other. That is depending if you can still walk. that is. There would be no chance of walking up the 39 steps. Is the cabin too close to the wall with an open door? Some people would complete that scene.
Hello Martyn I am glad that you have commented twice. and good luck in the quiz. The thing is if can not walk the 39steps. there always the buses. or just walk up Tyne dock station. which is further along. so plenty of options. for getting home after a nite on the toon. thanks again for commenting my friend. cheer's for now Tony.
Hi Keith. I don't think so. I am just hoping that the T.N.E county council don't notice. as it looks like it been there forever. have a great weekend my friend. cheer's Tony.
Glad you enjoyed it Chris. its a games changer the new scene. thanks again for commenting. best wishes from Laura & Myself. take care.

Lovely little scene Tony, very authentic and atmospheric, a bit noisy when enjoying a pint though great video
Totally agree Colin, the scene has come out better i had expected. especially as there was no scratch buildings in sight.
Maybe by the 1970s they would have converted the back yard of the pub into a beer garden. thank you for commenting, interesting thoughts. cheer's Tony.

Brilliant as always. One suggestion, I remember the pubs of that time having big loading hatches to allow access to the cellar to drop the barrels.

Hi our Tony. I wasn't sure, but having watched the result, you made the correct decision. As the bottom of the 39 steps area looks great
The whole has finally come to life. especially when you think that the 39 steps were built nearly 4 years ago. have a great weekend. and thanks again for commenting. cheer's Tony.
@TONYNORTHEASTERN No. It's never been four years, bloody hell. I'm getting old quick. Cheers Tony
The Policeman's Quiz is still open. for your chance to win some T.N.E sticker's. good luck everybody...
I do like to keep my power supplies separate so there wont be any spikes or power surges.
it is a bit late now to change over to Copydex.
all useful ideas for anyone starting out with a new layout. thanks again my friend. stay safe. Tony.
Great scene there Tony, I really like those buildings. May I ask where you got them from, have a great weekend.
Tony.
Hi Mr t
I hope you and Mrs t are ok
Yes it a great move.
If it hard to dig up you know you did a go job first time round
Keep safe ARP
Hi Adi. very true. but it is great fun to make changes. stay safe my friend. cheer's for now Tony.
Thanks Tony, super stuff.
Hi Andy. thank you mate. anything can be changed on a layout with a bit of care. all the best Tony. 👍👍👍👍👍
I would happily live there.❤
Me tooo. if only i was only 25mm tall. lol. have a great weekend. Tony.
That tardis is taking a long time to De-materialise lol. Very interesting video.
Tell me about it.lol. have a great weekend. cheer's for now Tony.
@@TONYNORTHEASTERN 🤝
1/76th scale pneumatic drill required for that site Tony!
I agree Dave. the chisel was a bit heavy handed. take care Tony..
Cool vid on channel nice work as always thank
Cheer's Lee. all the best Tony.
Mrs Simms gets everywhere. mind you she is a bit of a busy body...cheer's for now Tony.
In Winchester there is what used to be a hotel ( Eagle court) that still has a balcony like that, so there's your precident
Thank you Paul. i think on that note i will leave balcony on the building. cheer's my friend. have a great weekend. Tony.
Hi Tony popped into the Birch Hall last night to buy you a couple Newkie Broon's my friend but the landlord said you was busy planning the new Tyne Dock Station. Left them behind the bar for you.
Cheer's Steve I will enjoy those. after the last orders at the Saracens head....cheer's Tony.
Tony! What have you done to that chisel? Not only does it look like you used it to prise open paint, but stirred it as well!
Did you have to get planning permission? Lol
Hi Keith. I don't think so. I am just hoping that the T.N.E county council don't notice. as it looks like it been there forever. have a great weekend my friend. cheer's Tony.
