His pants must have been custom made, because I don't think any military makes pants capable of containing that mans sheer testicular fortitude. Balls of the finest Tempered Steel!
Grunts are pretty good at languages, which is why they are put in charge of communication equipment. In games, some Grunts will scream in English at the Chief.
There were a few flaws you missed that should be considered. 1 poor and highly predictable tactics (most of the time) resulting in absorbing heavy losses with stretched out supply lines 2 As part of the cast system they used brute controlled destroyers as MAC fodder, to overwhelm Orbital defense grids, this led to the formation of the Banished, before the Great Schism 3 A complete failure to manage war fatigue, by the time of the Great Schism, the Covenant were already cracking, you had the Banished and a number of smaller rebellions cropping up, it is possible had the Halos not been discovered and Reach lasted a couple more years, they would have broken on their own, especially if the Pillar of Autumn was able to carry out the mission it was modified for. 4 being ineffective at hiding logistical infrastructure being set up in captured territory, or otherwise protecting it, this may be alternatively be attributed to ONI, but the Covenant often found forward shipyards and fuel depots that would have made logistics much more sustainable, destroyed by the UNSC before they could be truly utilized
Mind if I share some bonus flaws that aren't inherently or necessarily tied to their society and political structure? -Shield windows - Another comment already mentioned this but basically their ships usually had to temporarily open a "window" in their shielding to fire some of their more significant and powerful weapons, UNSC ships could potentially exploit these with a MAC round or even better, a nuclear missile detonating inside the shields. -Simple tactics - Because of their overall significant power in space warfare compared to the UNSC (barring Spartan boarding teams and the like), the Covenant could usually just brute force the UNSC in a space fight and their commanders often did so, leading to clever UNSC commanders finding creative ways to outsmart the Covenant. Of course, there were few exceptions such as Thel'Vadam whose tactics and unpredictability almost secured victory for the Covenant were it not for the incidents that led to the events of Halo CE and Halo 2. -Lack of fleet diversity - The Covenant has a lot of different ship types, but their fleets were usually composed almost entirely of the CCS Battlecruisers, while it is a fairly versatile and powerful workhorse, the low number of specialist and support ships in comparison means that the Covenant fleets are often a jack of all trades, but a master of none.
You guys should do a space Navy series on the Starship Troopers universe. But not the film's or receive the anime, but the old 2000 Razaks roughnecks Chronicles! You guys should watch the series! It's awesome despite the show running I to production problems
Due to them seeing that mendicant bias (the forerunner military AI commander) went againt it's master after getting the logic plague, the covenant refused to develop AI systems and replaced them with disposable grunts.
Dear humanity, we regret being alien bastards, we regret coming to earth, and we most defently regret that the core just blew up our ragedy ass fleet, HOORAH!
Good to see you again Allen, sorry about the gills. So, I'd like to ask a clarifying question that I think would help with a lot of the negative comments on these videos. So, what are you guys defining as the "Best"? Like, are you trying to decide which navy would win in total war? Which navy succeeded best at it's goals? Which navy is most efficient/well designed or run? If you answered this in an earlier video, sorry, I must have forgotten. But there was a lot of criticism on the UNSC flaws video, and I think clearly defining your definition of "best" would help stop a lot of that. Although there will always be the fanboys, haha.
We all appreciate your preparedness to make bodily sacrifices and undergo experimental gene therapy to destroy the vile Dolphin deviants. We salute your dedication to the cause, Allen. Humanity First!
The greatest flaw of the covenant? They picked a fight with humans. Humans are the luckiest, most tenacious, and downright dirtiest fighting force in the universe. It's a species so cunning and audacious it not only fielded a generically modified, dolphin fighting Allen but also TWO BENS!
I wouldn't say that was their greatest flaw. Not by a long shot. Fact of the matter is that humanity was beaten, and quite badly - the only thing that saved the UNSC and by extension humanity was the Great Schism and the Elites turning against their former masters. By the time of Halo 3 humanity had lost nearly eight hundred colonies with only Earth and a very select handful of other worlds left, none of them military or economic power houses... and had the civil war never happened Earth would've been glassed. It's quite possible and even likely that the UNSC would've been able to reach the Ark and maybe even kill Truth/prevent the rings from firing, but fact is that any human force following the Covenant through would've been facing multiple CAS assault carriers and over a dozen CCS cruisers..... using only a handful of unshielded frigates. Nothing would be left to prevent Earth's destruction afterwards. The UNSC's Hail Mary play was supposed to be the Infinity - an ark of sorts for the best and brightest of humanity should Earth fall - but the ship simply wasn't finished by the time the Covenant found Earth.
biggest 3 IMHO are tactics, logistics, and war fatigue tactics were largely predictable, which lead to very costly major engagements logistics: they were unable to set up much infrastructure to shorten the supply chain and distance reinforcements had to travel (largely thanks to ONI) so those losses took longer and longer to replenish war fatigue: they were cracking before Reach, even having very large break away factions like the Banished to deal with
Elites: Oh boy, who are we fighting today? Prophet: some low level civilization called "humanity" Elites: uhhh.... gimme a sec _Elites have switched teams_
I know that you do like some Aliens like Wookiee’s, because they aren’t too repulsive or dangerous, but what do you think of the grunts? They are a mistreated race who have a lot of potential. If they tried to align themselves with humans, would you accept that?
One of the forerunner's A.I. told the San'Shyuum (Prophets) what the forerunners really were and founded to be equal to humans. This was the reason the Covenant declared holy war on humans. In order for the San'Shyuum to maintain power and not collapsing the Covenant.

3:01 that can't be right. Different races have different stats. Different levels of speef, strength, ect. No point having a fast tvaoan when it has to slow down so the brutes can keep up. It would be like having a squad of 4 different fighter craft. Which we already covered in a previous star wars video.
I would love to see Stargate thrown into this but the human fleet is to small right now. But my favorite ship of all time is a daedalus-class cruiser fully upgraded.
@@armycowboy4313 too small 10 years ago, if they do a new stargate show they'd need to account for the time gap and keep in mind they went from seeing alien technology for the first time too building their own space fighters in like 6-8 years and then on to their first capital ships just a couple of years after that. So you can easily assume they expanded quite a bit in 10 years. Damn I want a new stargate show.

Good afternoon, my apologies for being late for this. However, I have noticed that you view the different species within the Covenant as mindless savages. But in reality, there are some species within the Covenant who respect humanity. The Unngoy absolutely love human culture... so much so that there is a Black Market of Human merchanddise on their homewarld of Balaho. The Sangheili has a great deal of respect for us, mainly because we just never gave up during the war. In fact, there were many Sangheili who asked the San' Shyuum Reformist Prophets why humanity couldn't join the Covenant when they allowed other species, like the Yanme'e, and the Lekgolo to join after similar resistance. The Sangheili figured that something was going on behind the scenes. And when Arbiter Thel 'Vadam finally learned the truth during the Great Schism, he relayed this to rest of the Sangheili and their allies. Call me a Xeno lover all you want, but I do have a great deal of respect for the Sangheili. They have indeed apologized for everything that happend in the war and said they were simply following orders. After all, nobody is perfect... and when you stop, sit down, and have a conversation with them. You realize that the Sangheili and Humanity are more alike than once thought. I hope this does not fall on deaf ears. Thank you for taking some time to read this, and I hope who ever reads this has a wonderful day. May Urs' ever lasting light shine upon you all.

Part of their technological stagnation is the inefficiencies in their tech, humans with their less advanced tech can improve upon Covenant tech with just software changes. Also their lack of tactics and strategy, their technological superiority has stunted their tactics to be forward charges and attacks
I have to admit that's one of their advantages are there plasma based weapons. In Halo reach the Plasma Pistol has the same time to kill as the standard assault rifle. Grunts are also five feet tall. So it runs on with the Plasma Pistol is equivalent to one of our soldiers armed with a assault rifle... which is insane... their weakest and shittiest Force is equivalent to our standard infantry. Also the original make of the plasma rifle that you see in wars, reach, 1 2 and 3. Was perfectly designed for the elites as it gave them amazing firepower in a single hand which allowed them better maneuverability, and a smaller silhouette. But like idiots they've since reverted to traditional two handed weapons, *and have taken to binge eating radioactice foods. That's why they look so warped and fat now.
The biggest flaw of the Covenant is their military hardware and just how badly designed some of their equipment is. Also their over-reliance on plasma is a huge draw back because plasma can't do everything and is easily stopped with a magnetic field. You don't even need a super strong magnetic field to stop plasma (a mag bench to inspect parts produces a magnetic field that is many times stronger than Earth's). Admiral Cole took advantage of this when he lured a Covenant fleet into a gas giant's magnetosphere and rendered their weapons useless. Then there is the fact that when it comes to long range engagements, plasma is the worst thing to use simply because it will start dissipate as soon as it leaves the barrel. Just because they use plasma doesn't mean they're advanced, it means they're stupid for using only 1 weapon system that can easily be counter-acted. The wraith is a horrible vehicle to use as an MBT and it shows and the Seraph is a horrible vehicle to use as a space superiority fighter. When it comes down to it, the UNSC is actually superior since their coil guns and rail guns fire projectiles that don't suffer the same way as plasma as well as fire different types of ammo (MACs can fire guided munitions) and can do damage that can be impossible to stop without the mystical energy shield that defies even the universes' own rules. Hell, even fucking Star Wars has more weapon system diversity. Take the Imperial fleet for example. They have vehicles and starships that carry not only the usual blasters and variants of them (ie ion weapons), but also several different types of missiles, mass drivers (shoots out a solid projectile) and beam weapons which allows them to fight efficiently and effectively against whatever comes their way. I love your videos but you kinda missed this major flaw about the Covenant.
Great video but I think you should have talked more about the lack of innovation. You discussed the cause but not the results so much. Look at what cortana was able to achieve in first strike while in control of a covenant ship. She instantly took their weapons and slip space capabilities to another level. If the covenant had the techniques she created then for the entirety of the war humanity would have never stood a chance
In the end all it took was two guys to make the whole thing crumble. Granted, one of them was the goddamn Master Chief, and the other was alien Keith David (that voice is a superweapon on par with the Halo Array).
What the hell? British Ben is clearly more dangerous. EDIT: It wasn't a good idea, no, but the Covenant were terrifyingly close to winning. Had a couple things here and there gone a different way, they would have absolutely won.
Trying to compare any faction to Warhammer is an exercise in futility. It's like comparing any somewhat self respecting comic book hero to Saitama from One Punch Man - you just don't. Not because it's a literary masterpiece or because it's well thought out but because Warhammer is something of a parody like OPM is. Nothing is meant to be taken seriously, and everything is over the top ridiculous because the universe runs on grimdark and the Rule of Cool. The series has no place in any meaningful comparison or versus series simply because it doesn't impose any meaningful limitations or even logic on itself or its native factions, which is why it always wins whenever anyone tries. Anyone asking for such a match up is effectively requesting a spite video, regardless of how close it might appear at a glance.
@@slate8409 40k is, at best, equal to the forerunners. The forerunners technological achievements far outclass those of the imperium. The imperium may have an advantage in the use of space magic. Other than that they would get stomped.
Scifi always puts Humanity as the only race following the "Jack of ALL trades, master of NONE" trope. Any other race we find is always specialized and either relies on other races/species for supplement, or requires a strict caste system for tasks deemed lesser in importance to the "one thing." Elites are tacticians and could put their minds to great works of the mind in technology and societal advancement, but they are kept as warriors, capitalizing on one skill. MASS EFFECT UNIVERSE: Turians take the role of elites, living in a Military Meritocracy where all "citizens" must serve by conscription. Quarians were engineers before the Morning War as well as after. Asari are deep thinkers and philosophical. Salarians are scientific and take any advantage for a positive end result. Krogan are survivors, putting brute force strategy and "all or nothing" ideals as their mainstay. I can go on! We NEED a scifi where Humanity continues its very real place of "the adaptors," but the aliens we fight are TOO. More or less in this and that, but equally as able to adapt to a challenge, leading to a Mind Race, as opposed to an Arms Race alone, putting every strategy, technology, advancement, idea and perspective on the table to win out...If other "lesser" species need to be there with their "one thing" to balance it out, fine. Ally, NeutraL or Enemy? I AGREE WITH BEN, AND I THINK WE NEED A SCIFI UNIVERSE WITH AN EQUALIZING MEASURE. NEITHER SIDE MORE OR LESS ADVANCED, BUT ONE MUST STILL RISE TO THE TOP.

All the technological supiority in the world, or rather galaxy in this case, means very little if the military power in question is also tactically/strategically inferior. While good military technology in comparison to others and good military strategic planning skills generally go hand and hand so to speak, this is not always the case, even inside of the history of our own world, which has been a good thing and a bad thing at various points of human history, not at the same time of coarse.

At 6:40, behold, on the far right, the Greatest Hero of Man, Captain John "Mad Jack" Churchill, who fought in WWII armed with a broadsword, saying that it was improper for an officer to go into battle without a sword, and a longbow, which he used to claim the only confirmed longbow kills of the entire War.
1 poor and highly predictable tactics (most of the time) resulting in absorbing heavy losses with stretched out supply lines
2 As part of the cast system they used brute controlled destroyers as MAC fodder, to overwhelm Orbital defense grids, this led to the formation of the Banished, before the Great Schism
3 A complete failure to manage war fatigue, by the time of the Great Schism, the Covenant were already cracking, you had the Banished and a number of smaller rebellions cropping up, it is possible had the Halos not been discovered and Reach lasted a couple more years, they would have broken on their own, especially if the Pillar of Autumn was able to carry out the mission it was modified for.
Seems like it would be so easy to play with the different factions of the Covenant against each other
Damn. Hard to believe that the brutes have only been part of the covenant for 34 years before the human covenant war began.
2:35 I swear thats a grunt wearing an ODST helmet...
Due to them seeing that mendicant bias (the forerunner military AI commander) went againt it's master after getting the logic plague, the covenant refused to develop AI systems and replaced them with disposable grunts.
I love all three of them but the first one I saw for this channel was allen.
Ben+ben=0.1% of your power
Dear humanity, we regret being alien bastards, we regret coming to earth, and we most defently regret that the core just blew up our ragedy ass fleet, HOORAH!
YEAH! More Space Engineers replica ships :D
6:46 HERESY! A Guardsman has no other loyalty than to the Emperor, his superiors, and his brothers in arms!
The planet broke before the Guard did!
The UNSC's Hail Mary play was supposed to be the Infinity - an ark of sorts for the best and brightest of humanity should Earth fall - but the ship simply wasn't finished by the time the Covenant found Earth.
biggest 3 IMHO are tactics, logistics, and war fatigue
tactics were largely predictable, which lead to very costly major engagements
logistics: they were unable to set up much infrastructure to shorten the supply chain and distance reinforcements had to travel (largely thanks to ONI) so those losses took longer and longer to replenish
war fatigue: they were cracking before Reach, even having very large break away factions like the Banished to deal with
Elites: Oh boy, who are we fighting today?
Prophet: some low level civilization called "humanity"
Elites: uhhh.... gimme a sec
_Elites have switched teams_
Just ask Vietnam.

Finally, someone who gets it!
I know that you do like some Aliens like Wookiee’s, because they aren’t too repulsive or dangerous, but what do you think of the grunts? They are a mistreated race who have a lot of potential. If they tried to align themselves with humans, would you accept that?
... sure
One of the forerunner's A.I. told the San'Shyuum (Prophets) what the forerunners really were and founded to be equal to humans. This was the reason the Covenant declared holy war on humans. In order for the San'Shyuum to maintain power and not collapsing the Covenant.
remember Reach
0:31 its stuff like this that make you my personal hero, the lengths your willing to go for us to destroy those dolphin fuckers even sacrificing your humanity and turning in to part fish.
For that I salute you
('-'*ゞ
Thank you for your sacrifice.
😢
3:01 that can't be right. Different races have different stats. Different levels of speef, strength, ect. No point having a fast tvaoan when it has to slow down so the brutes can keep up. It would be like having a squad of 4 different fighter craft. Which we already covered in a previous star wars video.
What about stargate Ships(304, Destiny, Atlantis,303)groups (SGC, Wraith, Tollens, Ancients, Genii, Lucien Alliances, Asgard, both Ben's are cool
@@coreymicallef365 same. And the last I heard there was at least 8 cruisers made
Give or take a few and don't forget about the fighters and the ancient ships they have like Atlantis, or Destiny (I know the Destiny is on the other side of the Universe), and free Jaffa NEED I SAY MORE
@@justinburrichter8134 hey preaching to the choir. Well I'm pretty sure once the Density get home, the stargate command get upgraded on it will make it a very powerful flag ship. And the city of Atlantis on it's own could destroy a lot of ships on it's own. The Jaffa ships are only really good for cannon fodder.
We need a flaws of the Ben episode.
Get more Ben's! We won't be able to arque about which one is better if we were too confused about new Ben's!
May Urs' ever lasting light shine upon you all.
sure it matters who has the biggest stick, but it matters a hell of a lot more on who's swinging it
It matters not how grand the castle may be, if it is built on a foundation of sand

Which Alien Hive Mind is Best? (Harvesters?, The Ceph?, The Formics?, The Wraith?, Tyranids?, The Borg?) Best and Worst Aspects of each species.
Part of their technological stagnation is the inefficiencies in their tech, humans with their less advanced tech can improve upon Covenant tech with just software changes. Also their lack of tactics and strategy, their technological superiority has stunted their tactics to be forward charges and attacks
Do stargate ships
Every new subscriber = one covenant super city destroyed.
Allen is the best and I prefer him to do all the videos
Can you do the Forerunners vs The Imperium of Man (Halo vs Warhammer 40k) please?
40k would have its as kicked by forrunners
@@slate8409
What are you saying?
@@slate8409 40k is, at best, equal to the forerunners. The forerunners technological achievements far outclass those of the imperium. The imperium may have an advantage in the use of space magic. Other than that they would get stomped.
A better one would be the Imperium vs the Flood at their height with star roads as well as Mendicant Bias.
Funny, humanity fought off the Covenant with a) an alliance with the Sangheili. And b) Humanity actually exploiting planets.
Not going to lie, he had me in the first half of the intro.
6.37 Is that Jack Churchill on the right? The one storming the beach with a broadsword!
I thought he said "breed underwater" at first and I got a little excited...
you know last night i had a dream
....
a dream where i had a trident and i was floating above the water
and dolphins where basicly leaping into my trident... all i was doing was floating backwards, not even stabbing them and they still killed themselfs... must of killed at 10 or so
All the technological supiority in the world, or rather galaxy in this case, means very little if the military power in question is also tactically/strategically inferior. While good military technology in comparison to others and good military strategic planning skills generally go hand and hand so to speak, this is not always the case, even inside of the history of our own world, which has been a good thing and a bad thing at various points of human history, not at the same time of coarse.
You should do videos for the Romulan and Klingon navies.
I like all of u guys; ur channel is one of my faves
Finally preparing to destroy the dolphin menace
My favorite part of some halo books are the grunt story
When your last name is Allen so you have to agree that one Allen will always be better than two Bens
The real question lies in how many dolphins each ben can slay
"The covenant were a spacefaring species" - what does that even mean?
Everybody knows the best Ben is Allen anyway.
I know this channel is all humanity first but i felt like he was genuinely mad at the covenant during this video. I kept expecting him to just snap and start yelling.
The jackal missionary ship pic was a build in space engineers.
You need to make more halo
