    The WNBA's greatest nemesis is themselves. They cry about wanting more people to support them but they won't even support their own. CC is someone who is likeable, talented, marketable, and will put butts in seats at games but too many of the old guard are just jealous the spotlight won't be on them so they would rather tear down everyone then elevate their peer.

    One month later, Caitlin Clark has brought an immediate and tangible impact to the WNBA in terms of record attendance and viewerships. It’s a shame that the established WNBA veterans have refused to acknowledge what is changing. The WNBA’s biggest problem is they don’t realize how big a problem they have. The WNBA has yet to be truly profitable and these old heads don’t realize how much benefit Caitlin Clark will bring to the league. NBA players have recognized the impact Caitlin Clark can have because the NBA is a truly competitive league where the old veterans have to keep improving their game to stay relevant. The WNBA is an old players club who refuses to acknowledge forward progress in the game.

    • @RIbigDave
      @RIbigDave 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree with you but it's not that they haven't become fully profitable they've lost money every year of their existence. If the WNBA had a stand on its own two feet financially the league would have to be a lot more cognizant of the image they project to the world. So far the s*** directed at Calvin Clark has just confirmed the reasons that I don't watch the WNBA. By the way if they were a men's league that have gone out of business after 10 years of not making any money just like countless male sports leagues have folded in the past. Social injustice is tearing up our culture community and finally we got a new WNBA star that's changing the way the game should be played and current and former WNBA players better get used to it because she's here to stay and WNBA players better get over it. It shouldn't be about jealousy or envy because she's not better than what you think due to your envious lifestyle, It's all about keeping the game real so fans can enjoy the game of professional sports. But since NCAA women Basketball players play 4 yrs most there are plenty of Jr. And Senior players in there 20s. That Clark played against night in and night out since she was a freshmen up to her Senior year.

      Diana's points are valid for sure. It's just the total disdain in her delivery that makes it seem more personal than MAYBE it is.
      We also have to understand that college is a cult, and Taurasi was in Cultville, UConn, so again, when referencing Paige, the favoritism towards the UConn connection shows up in Taurasi's voice, meaning that if Paige played for Iowa and Clark played for UConn, Taurasi's comments would be completely reversed even though she would have been speaking about the exact same players. (A big part of it may not be related to the Caitlin/Paige debate, but rather the UConn vs non-UConn angle.)
      Peer pressure from her UConn connection, whether real or perceived, I'm sure has an effect on how she views, and vocally translates those views on audio/video, referring to the non-UConn star Clark and the UConn star Paige.
      Some people just are perceived as abrasive even though they may not be as abrasive as they come across to the masses.

Yet the reason for this is 1, as we all know, the wnba loses 10 million each year, and besides that, is subsidized by the NBA. And to say its unfair for women to be payed less, is completely an understatement. In fact, if you look at it, sabrina is making more than most wnba rookies, and, numbers wise, is making more on percentage value if you look at the numbers than 80% of NBA rookies of comparing to revenue to salary. I have learned more about basketball in the past 2 weeks than I have my entire life and is it because Caitlin Clark? Yes, but did I also manage to discover other players and learned more about the game in time? Yes.
    But I would have not be bothered to do all of this had it not been me coming across Clark’s buzzer beater shot against Indiana in 2022-2023 season.
    Isn’t that what you want though? A positive domino effect? You may not be the cause of the effect, but you WILL profit off of it as well. Take advantage of it instead of whining because the spotlight isn’t on you.
    The cold hard truth is that Caitlin Clark is the current face of demand and that’s something that can’t be helped. She didn’t ask for it, the girl was chosen by demand.

    Clark isn't polarizing. The only one that don't like her are a minority of WNBA players who are insanely jealous of her.
    And its true, most people didn't give a darn about women's college basketball or the WNBA until Clark. I actually attended two WNBA games in the 90s and hardly anyone was in the stands and the play was uninspiring. And yes I've seen Taurasi, Wilson, Stewart, Plum, Parker, Griner, Lobo Swoopes and many others WNBA and NCAA women's basketball players on ESPN and during the Olympics and they didn't inspire me to come back for more -- Clark has.

    Revenue is generated by TV viewership and advertising dollars. The WNBA TV ratings will double or triple due to Caitlyn Clark's arrival. This is the effect Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan had, bringing in casual fans to TV watch and sell out stadiums. This will double or triple WNBA salaries. All WNBA players should be happy about Caitlyn Clark.
    The effect on Women's NCAA Basketball Finals TV ratings with Clark in the 2023 and 2024 Finals:

    CC has fans because, first and foremost, she loves the game! The WNBA is full of unknowns because most of the players love their wokeness more than the game. They love their identities. Fans love players who play sports. They don’t love players who play politics. These other WNBA players you mentioned as greats were not and are not greats because they are agenda driven activists first and basketball players second. They are forgotten because basketball was never their first love.
