"Probably cause they were lazy" to me is not a great analogy for why content doesn't make it in. It ignores that games have deadlines to meet and "neat features / extra enemies" don't have as much a priority as getting a functional product out on release. It's Nintendo expertise on this kind of management being why We get games with very few game breaking bugs compared to something like Cyber Punk for example that was TOO fixated on less important features that they ran out of dev time to polish what they had. (Not gonna pretend I know a lot about that game though, just a disclaimer) Polish is the last part before a games release and a lot of companies are willing to take the loss on a buggy release than lose the money it would take to keep the game unreleased and polish it further. Hence day 1 patches that are far less common with Nintendo games since Nintendo understands how to manage a games development to make sure a polished product is what makes it to store shelves, even if that means underdeveloped features (Link's Awakenings Dungeon Maker comes to mind, was that in-house? still applies regardless) That kind of management requires sacrifice, which includes features that "Would've been neat." Ocarina of Time planned on having 6 elemental arrows but considering how little utilized even just the 3 that made it in. 6 would've just bloated that and took dev time away from the polish the game DID have. All for a feature that wouldn't have been fleshed out enough to be worth it. That's the great thing about a series is immediately after the concept was able to be realized in Majora's Mask and is an aspect of the game People praise rather than what it would've been in OOT. But Majora's Mask had a very strict deadline so they needed to cut it down to only 3 arrow types. Still the concept was able to realized since they decided to hold off for a better opportunity to flesh it out more proper, OOT had other things to worry about. *[ TL;DR ]* This really turned into a long comment about Game Development but meh I wanted an excuse to talk about this since calling devs lazy is a commonly said thing, Not saying it's NEVER laziness just that game devs have way more things to worry about and sometimes cutting a neat feature is necessary to get to the finish line Hopefully I didn't sound overly criticizing of what You said, I wanted to give a different perspective on it since lots of People say this, no biggie. Your videos are great 😀
Imagine if, instead of the standard Yiga assassins, at least some of the random travelers you talked to in Breath of the Wild transformed into Twilight Assassins. Or heck, maybe have it so that during the Blood Moon some of the normal NPCs do so, but will revert to normal if you defeat it or the sun comes out
2:20 - So Twilight Princess was gonna do the whole Yiga murder-you-at-random thing before BOTW was even a thing? Huh. Neat. 5:23 - That's ambitious! 8:12 - Goron Smash!
I just finished playing through Twilight Princess again last week so it's interesting to see this now. Imagine you no sooner defeat Mayor Bo and then you have to defeat that Goron golem!
I would’ve loved if the Twilight Assassin was a fully functional enemy that randomly attacked you in Hyrule Field. I feel like it should’ve been an insanely resilient enemy like that bird from Majora’s Mask that steals your sword.
6:30 that is just a reskin of the Moblin's from Windwaker. These dudes move and attack just like the WW monsters. So I think they where just a placeholder in the trailer. Nothing more nothing less. You should watch the trailers first!
I feel like a lot of this stuff was scrapped due to limitations of various sorts. Given that they already delayed the release a few times and overhauled the Twilight Realm appearance, I could buy that an open-world forest and lake were deemed too ambitious for the time and any progress on them contributed to Breath of the Wild. Regarding the pupper in the canoe, I have to wonder if they wanted some sort of feature where the dog somehow helped Link hone in on fish. My bet for the Goron golem is that they wanted that to be the obstacle Link fought while scaling the mountain for the first time, but again had to scrap it because of kinks they weren't able to fix. It looks like there
Was planned for a crowd of Gorons to assemble and block Link's path, but the assembly animation is clearly a bit... awkward and I doubt there's an easy way to have a boulder fly up to form the upper parts of the golem.
I’m happy that you mentioned these points because these were mysteries I pondered about since childhood. Btw you can play fetch with the dog in castle town and the cats can play with the ball nearby
Wild that my grandpa just bought me this for my 8th birthday and nobody thought to look into just how dark the game actually was lol. I played a little bit of OoT so I knew the Zelda series and liked it, and then I saw the new one had a wolf and went "Ooh puppy" and played through that entire game only mildly creeped out at times, and needing my older brother to do a few late game timed puzzles for me cause those floating hands that chase you down after you move an orb were kinda freaky
I hope there is a HD Switch port of twilight princess with the unused open-world rpg content and the twilight assassin implemented into the game in the near future. Nintendo would not regret that decision, many of us including myself grew up with this game since we were kids and I personally think that having a large expansion to the game in a remaster for the Switch would be a dream come true!
I saw the trailer when it was coming out and i got super hyped, especially when Link was running away from Armogohma. I got it for Christmas and played nonstop. My all time favorite zelda game. I was disappointed when several bits from the trailer were never in the finished game, but i still love it.
I think the reason they took the dog one out was because they feared people would mistreat them by leaving them in the boat. Which would've required the dogs to return by swimming to the shore. And maybe that is difficult to program without there being a chance that players might bump into them and cause boundary breaking glitches etc.
I was replaying TP before watching this video and noticed that the Eldin light spirit said “You are now hunted by the shadows” after giving you the vessel of light. At first, I didn’t know what this meant. Now after watching this I believe that the “Shadow Assassins” were originally meant to “hunt” you while you tried to gather tears of light.
I belive you do fight the twilight assassins there's only 2 of them and there's 2 phantom Zants on the way to the real Zant always figured Zant turned them into the phantom because they're stronger then the others.
If Faron woods looked that different, I can only imagine how the rest of Hyrule was originally formatted, Perhaps Hyrule field wouldn’t have been broken up into so many chunks, or perhaps death mountain would’ve been an ACTUAL mountain, I don’t even know what to call the final result
Thank you for bringing up the Twilight Assassin; that enemy’s absence despite appearing kind of prominently in a cutscene has always bothered me immensely despite(or I guess because of) being a fan of the game.
The spinner should have been able to rotate the day cycle (It could contain the God of Rotation.. or something). This would have made the spinner actually useful (besides the bits of track shoehorned in every now and again). It also lines up quite nicely, as Arbiter's Grounds is the point where Poe hunting is really introduced, and being able to control the day/night cycle would be a huge convenience.
the shadow beast assasin kind of give me the yiga clan spys that attack you after you talk to them in npc form maybe they work like that where there a wondering npc and after your done talking to them they attack you
@@tumultuousv majora's mask had a heavier air to the entire game but didn't boast the same direct maturity that twilight princess has. Majora's mask seems more mature than it really is due to the sense of impending doom and severe steaks. But in term of violence that didn't pertain directly to game mechanics like combat, twilight princess takes the cake, along with the pure dark themes the twilight realm boasts. Not to mention the initial transformation of wolf link that could be considered graphic for the time period and graphical limitations
I think the reason why faron woods was so linear in the final version of the game was because of the game cube limitations. If they have try to make twilight princess an open world game it could not fit the GameCube disk.
The Canoe was most likely placed in Ordon so that peple who tested the game at E3, could get a feel for it. I don't think it was ment to ever be there, because there is no real reason for it. It is a small river. I believe that they made The Goron giant just for fun during the making of the game, they were just playing around a bit.
I don't think that the Goron golem would have been a placeholder for Fyrus. Its too complex a design. The Arwing was used in place of Volvagia because it was a model they could easily access that flew around, and I believe the AI was even based on that of the Arwings in Star Fox 64 (might be wrong but I believe that's the case), making it perfect as a placeholder for a boss with a then unfinished model. But the Goron golem would have required making a full model, including some special animations for the Gorons merging together. And all of that just to scrap it for the model later? They'd be better off using a wire frame or just enlarging Link's model or that of a single Goron. Its more likely that it was a scrapped boss, probably ending up replaced by Fyrus but perhaps in an entirely scrapped dungeon, or even a mini boss that was replaced by the Goron guard blocking the Hero's Bow. They got the model and some unique animations, tested out the AI and design concept, then decided it was too weird and replaced it with something else, or scrapped it entirely from somewhere unknown or alongside an entire dungeon.
@@n1nj4l1nk you are wrong lol oot doesn’t show too much that reaches Inside the mature zone. Oot is a mature but not mature type of game as for TP it’s more mature than Oot do to the Npc and great fairy.
