    Even though I am back at college for Drama for another two years, I still own every pair of dance shoes from my 2 years of dance. The only shoes that I don't own are the character shoes as I never needed them. I'm trying to find some affordable ones for my course though because we do some musical theatre as well as straight acting so I will need them. The past few years the actors have been doing Singing Waiters at a charity event at a big hotel and I think we are going to do this again this year so I need to get them. I'm not sure if this is important for Drama School, but you forgot to mention foot thongs. I can't dance barefoot without them. I really wish I wore knee pads when I did the dance course. I ended my college days covered in bruises and floor burns. I really do like that stuff from Sweaty Betty. I'll go have a look at what they have. I'm so excited. I have an award ceremony performance coming up and we are singing One Day More from Les Mis. I never thought that I would ever get to perform properly a song from Les Mis. It's going to be so cool and epic I hope.

    They stopped making my favourite ballet shoes so I bought so many pairs. I have like 8 new pairs lying about just because I want to keep with this make as long as possible

      @@GeorgieAshford it’s a Bloch shoe. It’s half leather, half canvas. I don’t have the most flexible feet but these shoes make my feet look so much better. My local dance shop has apparently got hold of a few more pairs so I’ll have to go and get them if they have them in my size haha

    Some might find this question stupid but how do you dress generally for drama school? Do you go in wearing leggings and a top every day? And what kind of shoe?

    Hey I know this is not what the video is about but I need advice. I am 17 I am very much interested in musical theatre, it took me long to decide what I wanted to do in life but recently knew musical theatre is what I wanted to do. I am very good at singing still lack something, I am part of my school choir and joined music conservatory focusing on singing, I dont have any acting experience nor dancing but I got moves. What I wanted to know is how do I get started into musical theatre I am really lost and dunno where to start

    • @GeorgieAshford
      @GeorgieAshford  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi I think the best place to start is by finding a local dance school and Drama club. Then if you continue to enjoy it you can look into different theatre schools- there’s lots of great ones!

    Quick question, in drama school can you take a course that it just dance? (No singing involved) I don’t really sing but I am a dancer and have musical theatre experience and I really want t9 do dramas collage but just dance xx

      You can go to a dance college, which I don't think would come under the category of 'drama school'. Just look around for vocational dance colleges (some schools which do MT also do dance courses like Bird, Urdang and Performers)

    I just started a MT btec at Nottingham College and this really helped! Obviously it's slightly different, but they run the course as they would if you were at drama school. Or do they say. I don't know, I've only been there a day... and I couldn't dance bc I've sprained my ankle 😂

    • @hazellawrence2062
      @hazellawrence2062 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also I really wanted a pair of LaDucas, but my college asks for New Yorkers, which I already have in black for rehearsals so I need to buy tan ones😂

    How important is it that you’ve done ballet to go into musical theatre as a career?? Because I’ve done a little bit but not enough really and obviously at the moment we aren’t able to go to class or join class

    • @toni4157
      @toni4157 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the reason ballet is so important is just the fact that ballet is the root of all dance, pretty much any other class you take will probably use ballet terms or you will need to use ballet techniques. Just the fact that you have done a little at the very least is better than some. Really if you just have the very basics in ballet and your not going to be completely behind when learning routines I think your on a good path. And of course there are many many famous theater people who are not dancers in the slightest but have big roles on broadway. It’s ok to be a mover if dance isn’t your thing but I think as long as you’ve got the basics and your not completely behind your probably going to be ok as long as your not going out for any major dance characters. And if you want to still get into more classes there are lots and lots of online things right now to keep you busy! There are studios doing online classes (my studio is opened back up but just split up classes so there aren’t too many kids in the studio at once) and you could even look up classes on TH-cam and do those at home as well!! :)

    I bought the Bloch jazz shoes because i wanna do theatre and dance, but at the time my feet were just a bit swollen so my shoes are too big for me! How do i shrink them? I don't live in London so it would be very expensive to buy them again!

    • @GeorgieAshford
      @GeorgieAshford  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not sure if you can shrink them without affecting the quality. There may be some online hacks you can find or just wear really thick socks!
